For U.S. viewers, the cheapest Hulu-only plan is Hulu with ads at $11.99 per month. The better deal for anyone who also wants Disney+ is the Disney+, Hulu Bundle with ads at $12.99 per month—just $1 more than Hulu by itself. Hulu Premium costs $18.99 per month, while the premium Disney+ and Hulu bundle costs $19.99 per month.

What does Hulu with ads include?
Hulu with ads provides access to Hulu’s on-demand catalog at the lowest standalone price. It is the right choice if monthly cost matters more than uninterrupted viewing, or if you are primarily subscribing for a particular show or collection of shows.

The $1 difference makes the ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu bundle the obvious value choice if anyone in the household will watch Disney+. At the listed prices, Hulu with ads costs $143.88 over 12 months, while the ad-supported bundle costs $155.88—only $12 more for the year.
The same logic applies to the premium options. Hulu Premium costs $18.99 per month, compared with $19.99 for Disney+, Hulu Premium. That is a $12 annual difference, assuming the bundle remains available at those list prices and you would otherwise pay separately for Disney+ Premium.
Do not choose the bundle solely because it is labeled a discount. It is a good deal only if the household will use the second service. A bundle can still cost more overall than paying for one service that you actually watch.

Hulu lists a three-day trial for eligible users on the standard Live TV configuration. Trial availability and eligibility can differ, so do not assume that every account will receive one.

Hulu says its unlimited DVR can store recordings for up to nine months. Live-channel lineups, local broadcast stations, regional sports availability, blackouts, and other restrictions vary by location and subscription. Hulu may require location information to determine what is available at your address.
Is Hulu + Live TV ad-free?
No. The premium Live TV configuration should not be described as making live programming commercial-free. Live channels carry advertising. The premium distinction primarily applies to the Hulu and Disney+ on-demand libraries, not to every live channel or every live recording.
Hulu + Live TV makes the most sense for someone replacing part of a traditional cable or satellite package—particularly someone who needs broadcast channels, news, sports, or a familiar DVR. It is not a cost-effective upgrade merely to obtain the regular Hulu catalog.

Add-on pricing can vary by the underlying Hulu plan and promotional eligibility. Check the add-on screen and checkout summary rather than assuming that the listed standard price applies to every account.
Adding several networks can quickly erase the savings of choosing Hulu instead of a competing service. If you want only one network for a short period, adding it for a specific series and then canceling that add-on may be more economical than maintaining multiple subscriptions indefinitely.

Netflix’s former Basic plan has been discontinued. Its current U.S. lineup is Standard with ads at $8.99, Standard at $19.99, and Premium at $26.99.
Netflix with ads is $3 less per month than standalone Hulu with ads. Hulu with ads is $8 less than Netflix Standard without ads. Hulu’s site currently uses the name HBO Max for its premium-network add-on, while current plan documentation from the service itself may use Max. The naming can vary by page and rollout, but the relevant comparison is between Hulu and the Max service.
