Yes—ESPN can show multiple live games on one television through Multiview, but it cannot pair any two games you choose. ESPN supplies pre-curated combinations of up to four events on supported TV and living-room devices. If your preferred games are not in the same Multiview tile, the reliable solution is to run two separate ESPN streams on two screens or devices.
The three ways to watch two games at once
| Setup | What it does | Best for | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| ESPN Multiview | Shows an ESPN-selected group of up to four games on one supported big-screen device. | One remote, one television, and a simple official setup. | You cannot freely choose or combine arbitrary games. |
| Two separate screens | Runs one ESPN stream on each television, computer, or streaming device. | Two specific games at full size. | Requires two playback endpoints and enough simultaneous-stream capacity. |
| Two browser windows | Attempts to play two events in separate desktop tabs or windows. | An experimental option when existing computer hardware is all you have. | Not an officially documented ESPN Multiview mode; browser, DRM, performance, and account restrictions can interfere. |
The fastest method: ESPN Multiview
ESPN describes Multiview as a big-screen feature that presents multiple live events together, with up to four games at once. ESPN support says it is available to ESPN Select and ESPN Unlimited subscribers. The combinations are created by ESPN, not assembled by the viewer.
That distinction matters: Multiview is a convenient one-screen presentation, not a universal split-screen tool. A tile might contain two games, four games, or another event mix selected for the current schedule.
See ESPN’s current explanation of the feature at ESPN Multiview support and its app overview at ESPN+.

How to find a Multiview screen
- Confirm access. Sign in to the ESPN app on your television or living-room device. Use your ESPN account or participating TV-provider credentials, and verify that your access includes ESPN Select or ESPN Unlimited, as applicable.
- Update the software. Install the latest ESPN app and device software. ESPN’s documented minimum app versions are listed below.
- Open Watch. Launch ESPN and select Watch. Menu labels can change, so use the current interface rather than relying on an old screenshot.
- Check the live rows. Look in Top Live, generally under Featured or Live.
- Select the tile. Look for a Multiview or quad-screen tile and open it. ESPN’s discovery instructions are at How do I find a Multiview screen experience?
- Verify the events. Make sure both games you want are included. There is no documented “add another game” control when the desired pair is absent.
Can you choose any two ESPN games?
No. ESPN says Multiview combinations are pre-curated and cannot be customized. If your two games do not appear in one tile, ESPN does not currently document a way to build a custom pair inside Multiview. Use two independent streams instead, or check later for another ESPN-curated combination.
Supported devices and app versions
ESPN’s support list is platform-specific and time-sensitive. The following minimum versions were listed for Multiview:
| Platform | Minimum ESPN app version |
|---|---|
| Android TV | 6.0.2 or later |
| Fire TV | 6.0.2 or later |
| Roku | 6.0 or later |
| Samsung smart TVs | 3.16 or later |
| LG smart TVs | 3.16 or later |
| Comcast devices | 3.16 or later |
| Cox devices | 3.16 or later |
| Charter devices | 3.16 or later |
Check ESPN’s live list before buying or assuming compatibility: What devices support Multiview? A device family can have model, software, and regional differences, so a compatible brand does not guarantee identical behavior on every television or box.
When Multiview does not include your games
Use two televisions
Run the ESPN app on each TV, sign in, and start one event per screen. This is usually the most dependable way to watch two specific games at full size.

Use a television and a laptop
Play one stream on the laptop and connect the other to a TV with HDMI. You may need an adapter, a reliable network connection, and a laptop capable of decoding two high-definition streams if both displays are active.
Use a TV app plus another streaming device
One game can run in the television’s ESPN app while a Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, game console, or provider box runs the other on a separate input. Showing both inputs simultaneously depends on the television’s picture-in-picture or multi-input features.
Try two browser windows only as a fallback
Open each event in a separate tab or window, sign in, and start both streams. This is not ESPN’s official Multiview mode. Playback may fail because of browser behavior, DRM, processor load, account limits, or a provider restriction. If one stream pauses or errors, move it to another device.
Subscription, access, and simultaneous-stream limits
ESPN’s U.S. pages displayed standalone ESPN from $29.99 per month and a Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN bundle from $35.99 per month on August 18, 2026. Prices and features can change. Existing cable, satellite, telecom, or live-TV customers may already have access and can authenticate in the ESPN app instead of purchasing a second subscription. ESPN says eligible subscriptions permit simultaneous streaming on up to three devices for most content, including live events. That makes two separate streams practical, but it is not an unconditional promise for every event or provider-billed account. Content rights, account rules, device restrictions, and provider terms can apply. Details are at ESPN’s partner program page.
Subscription access is also different from event rights. A plan may not cover a particular network or game, and regional restrictions, blackouts, incomplete provider authentication, or the current Multiview schedule can still prevent playback.
Troubleshooting Multiview and dual streams
The Multiview tile is missing
- Confirm that the device appears on ESPN’s supported list.
- Update the ESPN app to the required version and update the device software.
- Check that you are signed in to the correct account or provider.
- Verify that the account has ESPN Select or ESPN Unlimited, where required.
- Check whether a Multiview combination is currently available; the tile is schedule-dependent.
- Restart the app and streaming device.
A missing tile does not by itself prove that the subscription is invalid.
One game will not play
- Confirm that the plan includes the event’s network and rights.
- Complete TV-provider authentication again if necessary.
- Check for regional restrictions or a blackout.
- Make sure the event is not being mistaken for one included in a different service or package.
Video buffers or quality falls
- Prefer Ethernet or strong, stable Wi-Fi.
- Stop large downloads and unnecessary streams.
- Close unused apps and browser tabs.
- Update ESPN, then restart the streaming device and network equipment.
- Test each event separately before launching both.
- If Multiview remains unstable, use one stream per device.
You reach the stream limit
Two games plus a phone, tablet, or another television can approach the advertised three-device allowance. Stop unused streams and sign out of devices you no longer need. Provider-supplied access may follow different simultaneous-use rules.

Audio is confusing
A multi-game display cannot make every soundtrack equally useful. Select the game that deserves your attention and use visual cues for the secondary event. Audio controls can differ by platform, so check the controls on the specific device rather than assuming every version behaves the same way.

| Option | Advantages | Drawbacks |
|---|---|---|
| ESPN Multiview | Official, simple, one screen, up to four games. | ESPN chooses the combination; panes are smaller; supported-device requirement. |
| Two separate ESPN devices | Any two available events, full-size video, independent control. | Needs two screens or playback endpoints. |
| Two browser windows | May use hardware already on hand. | Unofficial, more prone to DRM, performance, and login problems. |
| TV picture-in-picture | Can combine multiple inputs without a second television. | Model-specific; internal streaming apps and DRM may not work together. |
Choose Multiview when the games are already paired and one-screen convenience matters. Choose two separate streams when the events are specific, need full-size viewing, or are not offered together. If games come from different services, expect separate subscriptions, apps, rights, and stream limits.
Important platform qualifications
ESPN promotes mobile viewing, but its documented Multiview support is for selected TV and living-room platforms. Do not assume that the same quad-screen interface appears on every phone or tablet. Likewise, a television’s own picture-in-picture feature is not automatically ESPN Multiview. Consult the television manufacturer’s manual for the exact model.

Does Multiview combine games from different networks?
Only when ESPN includes those events in one of its current curated tiles and your account has rights to each event. The app does not provide a general-purpose network mixer.
Can I use Multiview on a phone?
ESPN’s current Multiview documentation specifically covers selected TV and living-room platforms, not every mobile device.
Do blackouts affect Multiview?
Yes. A Multiview tile does not override regional, network, provider, or event-specific restrictions.
Is buying a new streaming device necessary?
Not always. A second television, a laptop connected by HDMI, or an existing streaming box may provide the second playback endpoint.
