What each U.S. edition includes
| Edition | Discs and copy | Best for | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Blu-ray | Blu-ray disc and digital copy | Households with a conventional Blu-ray player and buyers seeking the lowest-cost physical option | It does not provide the higher-resolution 4K Ultra HD disc. |
| Regular 4K Ultra HD | 4K Ultra HD disc and digital copy | Owners of a 4K television and 4K Ultra HD player who prioritize picture quality over packaging | The reviewed Walmart listing identifies 4K Ultra HD and digital copy, not necessarily a standard Blu-ray disc. |
| Limited-edition SteelBook | 4K Ultra HD disc, standard Blu-ray disc, digital copy and metal SteelBook case | Collectors and buyers who want both disc formats in one package | It costs more and can become difficult to find after release. |
“Blu-ray release” therefore describes a broader physical-media launch, not one single standard-Blu-ray product.
What is in the SteelBook?
The U.S. SteelBook package is a collectible metal case with one 4K Ultra HD disc, one standard Blu-ray disc and a digital movie copy. The listing does not establish that it contains a DVD, so buyers should not assume a DVD is included.

Apple made it; Warner Bros. released it
F1: The Movie is an Apple Original Film, but Apple is not the company that manufactured and retailed the U.S. discs. Apple originated and financed the production, Warner Bros. Pictures handled worldwide theatrical distribution, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment handled physical and digital home-entertainment distribution. Apple’s announcement describes the collaboration and Warner Bros.’ retail role.

Which version should you choose?
Choose the standard Blu-ray if
- You have a Blu-ray player but no 4K setup.
- You want the least expensive physical copy.
Choose regular 4K Ultra HD if
- You own a 4K Ultra HD player and compatible television.
- You want the premium disc format without paying for collector packaging.
Choose the SteelBook if
- You collect SteelBooks or are a major Formula 1, Brad Pitt or film fan.
- You want both 4K UHD and standard Blu-ray discs in one package.
The SteelBook premium primarily buys the metal packaging and bundled formats. Nothing in the listed specifications establishes a different transfer or exclusive cut.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Important compatibility and code checks
- A 4K Ultra HD disc requires a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. A standard Blu-ray player cannot play that disc, although it can play the regular Blu-ray included in the SteelBook.
- Digital-copy terms vary by SKU and territory. One Walmart listing states that its offer had to be redeemed by December 31, 2027; treat that date as specific to that listing, not every edition.
- Redemption platform, account, territory and expiration rules can differ. Check the insert or exact retailer page, especially for used or imported copies.
- “Limited edition” does not prove that a SteelBook is numbered or permanently scarce.
U.S. release versus international editions
The October 7, 2025 date is the U.S. physical release date. Countries can receive different dates, packaging, subtitles, digital-code eligibility and disc-region specifications. For example, Warner Bros. Japan lists a separate November 26, 2025 release for a 4K UHD and Blu-ray set. Imported 4K discs may be region-compatible while the accompanying Blu-ray, languages or digital code differ, so verify the specific edition.

Physical discs versus Apple TV streaming
Apple TV streaming began December 12, 2025, as shown on the official Apple TV page. Streaming is convenient for subscribers, while discs provide offline playback, collector packaging and access independent of a subscription. Subscription catalogs and pricing can change; Apple’s August 2025 announcement listed $12.99 per month at that time, which should not be treated as a current universal price. A digital copy bundled with a disc also does not guarantee permanent access if its redemption terms expire.
