Short answer for U.S. viewers: As of August 10, 2026, there is no verified legal way to stream all five released The Hunger Games films on demand for $0 without a subscription, rental, purchase, or temporary promotion. JustWatch’s current U.S. listings show all five films on Netflix, including Netflix Standard with Ads, but list no free streaming option for any of them.
The closest complete option is Netflix Standard with Ads at $8.99 per month. If you already have authorized access through a household, school, employer, carrier, or bundle, watching the films may cost you nothing extra. A public library may also let you borrow the films free of charge, usually on DVD or Blu-ray.
Availability checked: August 10, 2026. Streaming rights, prices, and promotions can change, so verify each title immediately before watching.
What free means here
Streaming guides often use free to describe several different situations. They are not equivalent:
#1 Best Overall
- Play Media from External Storage: Plug in an external hard drive to these compact DVD players for TVs to share your favorite movies, photos, and more on a large screen
- Multi-Connectivity DVD Blu Ray Player: HDMI-CEC and USB connectors; interfaces with multiple file formats in video (MKV/MP4) and audio (MP3/FLAC/ALAC/DSD/ WAV)
- Compact Size: Space-saving design allows this Bluray/DVD player for tv to fit neatly in narrow spaces and on thin racks. Dimensions: Approx. 9 5/8" W x 1 1/2"H x 6 7/8"D
- High-Quality Picture Resolution: With full HD support, BD84P-K Panasonic DVD players beautifully up-converts images to high-definition image quality (1080p) video, rendering your favorite movies in fine detail
- High-Resolution Audio Playback: Hear clear, superior audio from this Blu-Ray DVD player in action, adventure, dialogue, and music with Dolby Digital sound for DVDs, CDs, and compatible external files
- Free with no payment: You need no card, subscription, rental, purchase, or trial. No verified U.S. service currently meets this standard for all five films.
- Free trial: You may avoid a charge if you cancel in time, but a payment method is usually required. A trial is temporary access, not permanently free streaming.
- Free with ads: The individual stream may cost nothing, but the service can still require an account, subscription, bundle, or other eligibility. Netflix Standard with Ads is not free; it costs $8.99 per month.
- Included at no additional cost: You already pay for a qualifying subscription or have access through an authorized household or bundle. This can be the most practical zero-extra-cost option, but it is not a universally free service.
For the purposes of this guide, free online means a legitimate stream that does not require any of those payments or an existing paid subscription.
All five released films: current U.S. availability
There are currently five released films in the franchise. The table below reflects U.S. listings checked between July 28 and August 10, 2026. A provider listing is not a guarantee that the title will remain available or that every account and plan can play it.
| Film | Year | Approx. runtime | Current U.S. listing | Free on demand? | Other option |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Hunger Games | 2012 | 142 minutes | Netflix; Netflix Standard with Ads; fuboTV listing | No free option listed | Rent from about $3.99; purchase or download options |
| The Hunger Games: Catching Fire | 2013 | 146 minutes | Netflix; Netflix Standard with Ads | No free option listed | Rent from about $3.99; purchase or download options |
| The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 | 2014 | 123 minutes | Netflix; Netflix Standard with Ads; fuboTV listing | No free option listed | Rent from about $3.99; purchase or download options |
| The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 | 2015 | 137 minutes | Netflix; Netflix Standard with Ads | No free option listed | Rent from about $3.99; purchase or download options |
| The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes | 2023 | 157 minutes | Netflix; Netflix Standard with Ads | No free option listed | Rent from about $3.99; purchase or download options |
At the listed runtimes, the five-film marathon lasts approximately 705 minutes, or 11 hours and 45 minutes. That total excludes advertisements, trailers, pauses, and interruptions. Rental prices, taxes, rental windows, and purchase prices vary by retailer.
The cheapest predictable way to watch all five
Netflix Standard with Ads: $8.99 for one month
For someone starting without an eligible subscription, Netflix is currently the simplest complete solution. The U.S. Netflix catalog is listed as carrying all five films, and Netflix lists Standard with Ads at $8.99 per month. The plan includes advertisements and is still a paid subscription, so it should not be described as free.

- Search Netflix for each exact title: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay – Part 1, Mockingjay – Part 2, and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
- Before starting, confirm that all five titles appear playable on your account. Catalogs can change after a guide is published.
- Watch the marathon within one billing month if minimizing cost.
- If you subscribed only for the marathon, set a reminder and cancel before the next billing date. Check Netflix’s account page for the actual date attached to your subscription.
Netflix’s currently listed U.S. prices are $8.99 per month for Standard with Ads, $19.99 for Standard, and $26.99 for Premium. The ad-free Standard plan is the cheaper choice if you do not want advertisements, while Premium is the plan listed with 4K and HDR. Netflix’s ad-plan guidance warns that plan features and title availability vary by region.

How to watch without paying anything extra
1. Borrow the films from a public library
A public library is the strongest genuinely no-additional-cost possibility. Search your library catalog for each exact film and for a Hunger Games collection. Check DVD and Blu-ray listings separately, place holds on unavailable copies, and ask whether the library offers interlibrary loan.
Some libraries provide Kanopy or Hoopla, but digital film availability depends on the individual library’s licenses and lending limits. Search the exact movie titles rather than assuming that a Hunger Games collection contains the films. For example, Hoopla’s current Hunger Games collection emphasizes books, audiobooks, music, and related material; it is not evidence that all five movies are universally available there.
A library disc is free to borrow but is not online streaming. It may nevertheless be the only reliable $0 route if you do not already have a qualifying subscription.
2. Use access you already have
Check whether Netflix is already included through an authorized household account, school or employer benefit, mobile-carrier offer, or bundle. In that case, there may be no additional charge for the marathon. Confirm that your access is permitted under the provider’s current terms and that the account’s catalog includes all five films.

3. Wait for a legitimate free rotation
Free, ad-supported streaming rights rotate. One film may become free while the others remain subscription-only, so check all five individually. On JustWatch, select the United States, open each film’s individual page, and use the Free filter. If alerts are available, set one for each title.
When a result is labeled free, inspect what that label means. It may refer to a genuinely ad-supported service, a free trial, a subscription tier, or a promotion limited by region or date. Check the provider’s current playback page rather than relying only on an aggregator’s search result.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhat about renting the films individually?
If you do not want a recurring subscription, digital rental is the clearest alternative. Current JustWatch listings show rentals starting at approximately $3.99 per film across major digital stores. Renting all five at that starting price would total about $19.95 before tax, although prices and discounts can change.
Renting is best for viewers who want to watch only one or two films or who do not want to maintain a Netflix subscription. For a complete marathon watched promptly, one month of Netflix Standard with Ads is currently less expensive than five rentals. Rental windows also vary by retailer, so check how long you have to begin and finish each film.
Which order should you watch them in?
Release order: best for first-time viewers
- The Hunger Games (2012)
- The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
- The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014)
- The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015)
- The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023)
Release order is the best default for a first viewing. It introduces the original characters and world as audiences first encountered them, then adds the prequel after the main story’s context has been established.

Chronological story order: useful for a rewatch
- The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes
- The Hunger Games
- The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
- The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1
- The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2
The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes takes place decades before Katniss’s story. Chronological order can work for a rewatch, but release order generally provides the more coherent introduction for newcomers.

Is there a sixth Hunger Games film?
Not yet as a watchable streaming title. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled for a North American theatrical release on November 20, 2026, according to Lionsgate’s announcement. Its streaming date has not been announced; JustWatch’s U.S. page does not establish a current online release.
That means the complete currently released marathon contains five films, not six. The upcoming movie should not be included in a claim that all released films are available to stream now.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Expired and unreliable free-streaming claims
Do not rely on these older claims without checking the current title page
- Philo: Philo announced that the first four films could be watched free for the entire month of May 2026. That was a time-limited promotion, not an ongoing free catalog feature.
- Tubi: Older pages and articles may identify the franchise as free with ads, but Tubi’s current page for the first film says content unavailable.
- Peacock, Freevee, IMDb TV, YouTube, and Roku Channel: These services have carried individual films or related listings at different times and in different regions. No one should assume that an older listing still provides the complete five-film series.
Philo’s May 2026 announcement specifically limited the free first-four-film offer to May. Current Philo title pages instead use paid-plan language beginning at $25 per month with a seven-day trial. Philo’s trial information does not establish that all five films are included, and the current Ballad page lists AMC+ as an add-on rather than proving it is part of a complete free trial.
In other words, do not mistake a recently expired promotion, an indexed but unavailable title page, or a search snippet for current free access.

How to verify availability before you press play
- Set the region to the United States. The availability discussed here is U.S.-specific. A title’s availability in another country does not apply to a U.S. account.
- Search the exact film title. This prevents confusing a movie with its soundtrack, audiobook, ebook, trailer, or a similarly named recommendation.
- Open the individual provider listing. Search snippets and old articles can remain visible after a license expires.
- Check the Free filter. Confirm whether the result is actually free, ad-supported, a trial, or part of a paid subscription.
- Check all five titles separately. A promotion may cover the original film but not the prequel or one of the Mockingjay installments.
- Verify playability on your account. A page can remain indexed even when the title has left the service, is unavailable on your plan, or is restricted by region.
- Set alerts for future changes. JustWatch provides notification tools on supported title pages, which can help track a later free rotation.
If the film appears but will not play
Several explanations are possible:
- The title is listed for a different country or region.
- Your plan tier does not support that title or feature.
- The film left the service after the page was indexed.
- Your account is billed through a third party with different catalog access.
- You opened a page for a trailer, soundtrack, or similar title rather than the film.
- Parental controls or profile restrictions are blocking playback.
Start by checking the provider’s own account, region, and plan information. If the title is no longer playable, use a current licensed rental listing or contact your library rather than trusting an old free-streaming article.
Stay away from unsafe free-movie sites
A website offering a high-profile film free on demand is not automatically legitimate. Avoid sites that display multiple fake play buttons, request an unknown player or browser extension, trigger executable downloads, demand notification permissions, redirect through unrelated domains, or show a supposedly free copy immediately after a theatrical release.
Do not install software or provide payment details to unlock an unauthorized stream. The safe alternatives are a current licensed listing, a public-library loan, an authorized existing subscription, or a legitimate rental. This guide does not provide piracy links or VPN-based workarounds; a VPN may violate a service’s terms and does not change the region for which your account is licensed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I watch all five Hunger Games movies free with Netflix?
No. Netflix currently lists all five released films in the U.S., including on its Standard with Ads plan, but Netflix Standard with Ads costs $8.99 per month. Netflix also says it does not offer free trials.

Does Philo’s free trial include all five Hunger Games films?
The current Philo information does not establish that it does. Philo’s free first-four-film promotion was limited to May 2026, and current title pages point to paid plans. The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is separately associated with an AMC+ add-on, so a complete five-film Philo trial marathon should not be assumed.
Can I watch The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes before the other films?
Yes. It is the chronological starting point because it takes place decades earlier. For a first viewing, release order is generally preferable: watch the original four films first, then the 2023 prequel.
Is The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping available to stream?
No current streaming release is established. It is scheduled for a North American theatrical release on November 20, 2026, and its streaming date has not been announced.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: As of August 10, 2026, there is no verified legal U.S. service offering all five released The Hunger Games films free on demand. The cheapest predictable complete option is one month of Netflix Standard with Ads for $8.99. For a strict $0 route, check your public library, use an authorized subscription or bundle you already have, and monitor JustWatch for a future free rotation.
