As of August 10, 2026, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is easiest to watch at home in the U.S. Prime Video currently lists the film, although your account may show it as included, ad-supported, or available only to rent or buy. Hulu and the Disney+/Hulu ecosystem also list the movie, subject to plan and app availability. You can rent or buy it digitally through Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play/YouTube, and Fandango at Home, with current 4K benchmarks of $3.99 to rent and $19.99 to buy at Google Play and Prime Video.
The film is not currently showing as a dependable nationwide first-run theatrical release. However, limited, repertory, festival, or special-event screenings may still appear. Enter your ZIP code on Fandango’s movie page and verify any result directly with the theater before purchasing.
Availability checked: August 10, 2026. The information below is for the United States. Streaming catalogs, ticket listings, prices, and television schedules can change without notice.
Can you still see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes in theaters?
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes had its wide U.S. theatrical release on May 10, 2024, following early-access screenings on May 8. It originally played in conventional theaters as well as premium formats including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and ScreenX. It should now be treated as an older theatrical title rather than a normal first-run release.

- Generations in the future following Caesar?s reign, apes are living harmoniously as the dominant species ? and humans are living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question the past and make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
There is no dependable nationwide showtime listing at the time of this check. The film remains on Fandango, but the publicly rendered page currently displays a Know When Tickets Go On Sale notification rather than a reliable list of bookable local showtimes. AMC categorizes the film as rent or buy on demand.
Some aggregators, including JustWatch, still report possible tickets through Fandango and B&B Theatres. That may reflect a limited screening, an isolated special event, or stale theater metadata. A title page alone does not prove that tickets are currently available.
How to find a local screening
- Open the film’s Fandango title page.
- Enter your city, state, or ZIP code in the location field.
- Choose the date you want from the movie-times calendar.
- Review the nearby theaters and use any available format filters.
- Before paying, confirm the theater name, date, time, language or captioning information, and any premium-format surcharge.
Fandango’s general theater-search page also supports searches by city, state, ZIP code, and theater. If nothing appears, try a wider radius and check the direct websites of AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Alamo, B&B Theatres, and nearby independent cinemas.
If Fandango only offers Notify Me, interpret that as no currently confirmed Fandango showtime—not as proof that the film can never return to theaters. Repertory programs, film festivals, military-base cinemas, and special screenings can be listed separately from a regular theatrical run.

Where to stream the movie with a subscription
Current U.S. listings are not perfectly consistent across services. The most important distinction is between a film being included with a subscription and a film merely appearing in a service’s store, where it still requires a rental or purchase.
| Service | Current status | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Prime Video | Current U.S. availability trackers and August 2026 coverage list the film, and the Prime Video title page resolves to the movie. | Sign in and check whether it is included with your Prime or Prime Video plan, available with ads, or presented only as a paid rental or purchase. |
| Prime Video with Ads | Listed as an option by JustWatch. | Ad-supported catalog access can vary by account and market. Confirm that the play button, rather than a rental button, appears for your account. |
| Hulu | The film appears in Hulu’s official Planet of the Apes collection. Disney’s February 2026 programming guide also identifies it as a Hulu title. | Catalog access depends on the current Hulu catalog and your plan. Availability can change even if an older article says Hulu was the exclusive streaming home. |
| Disney+ | Disney has a current title page, and some third-party listings identify Disney+ as an option. | Disney’s own programming information labels the film as Hulu content. A Disney+ search result does not necessarily mean it is included in every standalone Disney+ plan or available through the same app in every country. Check the relevant Disney+/Hulu plan and app details. |
| YouTube TV | Currently listed by JustWatch as a possible route. | Treat this as a live-TV or account-entitlement listing, not as confirmation of a normal on-demand YouTube rental. Search within your signed-in YouTube TV account. |
| Fubo | Some older pages mention Fubo, but the direct Fubo route currently opens as unavailable. | Fubo is not a confirmed current option and should not be treated as one without an active play listing in your account. |
The safest method is to open the service while signed in and look for an actual Play button. If the page instead shows a price, your subscription does not include the film through that route.
Where to rent Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
Legal digital rental options currently include:
- Prime Video/Amazon Video
- Apple TV Store
- Google Play Movies/YouTube
- Fandango at Home
- Spectrum On Demand, where available through the reader’s provider
As a current price benchmark, Google Play displays a $3.99 4K rental, and the Prime Video listing displays the same $3.99 UHD rental price. Prices can differ by retailer, resolution, promotion, location, and account, so treat $3.99 as a checked benchmark rather than a guaranteed permanent price.
A digital rental generally gives you a limited period to begin watching and a shorter period to finish once playback starts. The exact window belongs to the retailer and can vary, so read the rental terms shown at checkout. If several people need to watch at different times, buying or using a disc may be more practical than renting.

Where to buy it digitally
You can currently look for a digital purchase at:
- Prime Video/Amazon Video
- Apple TV
- Google Play/YouTube
- Fandango at Home
Google Play and Prime Video currently show a $19.99 4K purchase. Other retailers may show a different price, offer HD rather than 4K, or run a temporary sale. A digital purchase is tied to the retailer account and its licensing arrangements, so choose the ecosystem you already use most often rather than assuming every store provides identical access.
Is there a free legal way to watch it?
No verified, no-subscription free stream was found in the current U.S. listings. JustWatch currently reports no free streaming option.
Be careful with the word free:
- Included with Prime or Hulu means you are using a paid subscription.
- Free with ads may mean access through an ad-supported plan, not access without an account or fee.
- A free trial may reduce the cost to zero for an eligible new subscriber, but it usually requires payment details and can convert to a paid plan.
- Unauthorized free-movie websites are not legal or dependable and may expose visitors to intrusive advertising or malware.
Could it be on live television?
Television listings have carried Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on movie channels including FX Movie Channel. TV Insider’s FX Movie Channel schedule is one place to check, but a listing is dependent on the date, provider, market, and channel package.
Search the exact title in your cable, satellite, or live-TV provider’s current program guide. A scheduled linear-TV airing is different from on-demand streaming: you may need to watch at the listed time, record it, or confirm that your package includes the channel.

DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD
The movie is also available on physical media. Its U.S. digital release was July 9, 2024, followed by the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on August 27, 2024. The release dates are confirmed by 20th Century Studios and the studio’s home-release promotion.
Physical media is the most stable choice if you do not want to track changing streaming rights. The 4K Ultra HD edition is the relevant option for viewers with a compatible 4K player and display who want the highest-quality home presentation and disc-based supplemental material. Check current stock and prices with individual retailers; availability and pricing are not fixed.

| Your priority | Best starting point | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| You already pay for an eligible service | Check Prime Video first, then Hulu or the Disney+/Hulu ecosystem. | The title may be listed but not included in your particular plan. |
| You want the lowest one-time cost | Compare the current rental prices, especially the $3.99 4K benchmark. | You have a limited time to start and finish the rental. |
| You expect to watch it repeatedly | Buy the digital version or a physical disc. | Digital access remains tied to a retailer account; discs require storage and compatible hardware. |
| You want the best home presentation | Choose the 4K Ultra HD release if your equipment supports it. | It costs more up front and requires a 4K disc player. |
| You specifically want a theater experience | Search Fandango and local theater sites by ZIP code. | There may be no current screening even though the movie has an active title page. |
| You are willing to wait for television | Search your provider’s guide for FX Movie Channel and other movie channels. | Schedules vary and may not offer on-demand playback. |
Do you need to watch the earlier movies first?
No. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is designed to be relatively accessible as a sequel, so you can watch it without completing the franchise first.
For the clearest continuity, watch the modern reboot series in this order:

Best Value
- Rise of the Planet of the Apes
- Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
- War for the Planet of the Apes
- Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
This is the order given in Hulu’s Planet of the Apes guide. The 1968 original and its 1970s sequels belong to a different continuity structure and are not prerequisites for following the main plot of Kingdom. If you are searching on a documentary-focused site, make sure you select the 2024 20th Century Studios feature rather than the similarly titled 2017 documentary Kingdom of the Apes: Battle Lines.

When a listing does not work
- No theater showtimes: Expand the search radius, try nearby ZIP codes, check independent theaters, and look for repertory or special-event programming.
- A theater page has the title but no dates: Treat it as an archived or inactive page until a date and bookable time appear.
- A subscription service asks for payment: Check whether your plan includes the title or whether you have reached the service’s rental store.
- Disney+ shows the film but playback fails: Check whether the title is being routed to Hulu and whether your account has the eligible Disney+/Hulu bundle or app access.
- The listing says free: Determine whether that means a trial, an ad-supported subscription, or genuinely free viewing without a subscription.
- Your price differs from the article: Trust the checkout screen. Prices change by retailer, resolution, promotion, account, and region.
- You are outside the U.S.: Do not assume the U.S. streaming table applies. Rights, subtitles, ratings, release dates, prices, and services vary by country.
The Bottom Line
Best practical choice: check Prime Video first if you already subscribe, then verify Hulu or the Disney+/Hulu ecosystem. If you want a one-time viewing, compare the current digital rental prices; if you want reliable long-term access, choose the digital purchase or the 4K/Blu-ray/DVD release. For theaters, use a ZIP-code search and confirm a real, bookable showtime—an existing movie page is not enough.
