American Idol Season 22 voting is over: the competition took place in 2024. During its voting rounds, viewers could vote on AmericanIdol.com, through the official American Idol app, or by texting a contestant’s assigned number to 21523. The number and voting window changed by round, so there is no valid code to use now.
How Season 22 voting worked
Season 22 offered three voting channels, according to contemporaneous coverage of the competition:
- Website: Vote through AmericanIdol.com.
- App: Use the official American Idol app.
- Text message: Text the contestant’s assigned number to 21523.
The available reporting establishes these options but does not establish differences in eligibility, vote limits, or accessibility among them for Season 22.
When and how to cast a vote during a round
- Check the instructions for the specific episode or voting round to find the contestant’s assigned text number and the opening and closing times.
- While the round is open, vote through the website or app, or text the assigned number to 21523.
- Submit votes before that round’s stated deadline. Do not reuse a number or schedule from another round.
For example, one reported Top 14 round ran from 11 p.m. Eastern on Sunday until 9 a.m. Eastern on Monday. Those were the hours for that round, not a season-wide schedule.

What is known about vote limits and eligibility
The available Season 22 sources do not verify a vote cap or eligibility requirements. ABC’s current FAQ includes later rules, including social-media voting, and should not be treated as the 2024 rulebook: ABC’s current American Idol voting FAQ. Similarly, ABC’s 2021 explainer described a limit of 10 votes per contestant per method, but that older rule does not establish the cap for Season 22: ABC’s 2021 voting explainer.
How America’s vote shaped the Top 14
In the Top 20 round, America’s vote advanced 10 contestants. Judges selected four additional contestants for the Top 14, according to ABC’s Season 22 recap.

No. Season 22 was a 2024 competition, and its voting rounds have ended. Its contestant-specific text numbers and deadlines were temporary; current-season instructions do not reopen or apply to the past season. No physical product was required to participate—voting was by website, app, or text.
