Teleparty lets you watch supported movies and shows with remote friends by synchronizing playback and adding text chat. It does not provide the video or share one person’s subscription: each participant generally needs access to the same streaming service, the same title, and a supported Teleparty browser extension or Android app.
For the most reliable current desktop setup, use Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Opera. Teleparty’s support page lists Android mobile support; iPhone, iPad, smart TVs, and game consoles are not currently listed as generally supported. Check the official support page before scheduling a group watch.
What you need before starting
- A movie or show on a streaming service supported by Teleparty.
- Access to the same service and title for every participant.
- Chrome, Edge, or Opera on a computer, or the Teleparty Android app.
- Teleparty installed for everyone.
- A stable internet connection.
- A title available in every participant’s country, account, and subscription tier.
Streaming catalogs, advertising plans, playback rights, and simultaneous-streaming limits can differ by country and subscription. A Teleparty invitation does not give guests access to the host’s account or bypass regional restrictions.
How to install Teleparty on a computer
- Open Teleparty’s official website or its verified Chrome Web Store listing.
- Choose the browser-store installation option and add the extension.
- Open the browser’s extensions menu and pin Teleparty if you want its red TP button visible in the toolbar.
- Sign in if Teleparty requests an account connection.
The verified Chrome listing is titled “Netflix Party is now Teleparty” and identifies teleparty.com as its website. Avoid installing similarly named extensions from search results.

How to host a Teleparty
- Sign in to the relevant streaming service.
- Use the service’s main account profile rather than an account-selection or landing page.
- Open the movie, episode, or video you want to watch.
- Start playback. Teleparty usually detects the extension only after a supported video is playing.
- Click the red TP button.
- Create the party and copy the generated invitation link.
- Send the link privately to your friends and keep the streaming tab open.
If the button is gray or unavailable, you may be signed out, on the wrong account page, or viewing a home, search, trailer, or account page instead of the actual video. Teleparty’s Netflix guide shows the same basic host flow: open the video, click TP, and share the resulting link.
How to join a Teleparty
- Install the Teleparty extension or Android app before opening the invitation.
- Sign in to the same streaming service used by the host.
- Open the invitation link in the supported browser or app.
- Allow it to redirect to the streaming site or party room.
- Open the title if it does not load automatically.
- Press play if prompted, then use the chat panel to communicate.
Every guest still needs permitted access to the relevant Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Max, Prime Video, YouTube, or other supported service. One shared account may work only when its plan and account rules allow the required simultaneous viewers.
Watching Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Max, Prime Video, and YouTube
Teleparty currently lists free support for services including Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Amazon, YouTube, and Max. Premium can add hosting on further supported services, including examples such as Crunchyroll, Paramount+, and ESPN+. Service support changes, and availability can vary by country, plan, browser, and mobile app.

Do not treat any list as permanent. Check Teleparty’s live support information before choosing a title, particularly if your group uses an ad-supported plan or a service not among the basic examples.
Does everyone need a subscription?
Usually, yes. Teleparty synchronizes separate playback sessions; it is not a video stream shared from the host’s computer. Teleparty Premium also does not include Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Max, Prime Video, or any other content subscription.
If several people use one streaming account, its plan must permit simultaneous viewing and the arrangement must comply with the service’s account rules. A party link cannot overcome a regional catalog difference: if a title is unavailable to one friend, choose another title or service.

Does Teleparty work on phones, iPhones, TVs, and consoles?

Using the Android app
Teleparty currently says Android users can log in to the streaming service inside the app, host from the party tab, and use the invite button in the lower-left corner. Guests install the app, sign in to the relevant service, and open the invite. The mobile support page lists Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and Max, plus a limited-time Crunchyroll arrangement. These details are subject to change.
Teleparty Premium: what it adds and costs
The free version may be enough for supported services and basic text chat. Premium can provide access to additional supported services and richer chat or customization features. Choose it only when your group needs a service or feature unavailable on the free tier.

The red TP icon is missing
- Open the browser’s extensions menu and pin Teleparty.
- Restart the browser and reopen the streaming site.
- If the icon still does not appear, remove and reinstall the official extension.
The TP button is gray or does nothing
Confirm that you are signed in, using the correct account profile, actively playing a supported movie or episode, and on the actual video page. Then check the browser, extension version, service plan, and regional availability. A search page, trailer, landing page, or unsupported title may not activate the button.

- Have the guest install Teleparty before opening the invite.
- Confirm that the guest is signed in to the same streaming service.
- Open the link in the same supported browser where Teleparty is installed.
- Ask the host to create a new party link.
- Temporarily disable conflicting extensions.
- Uninstall and reinstall Teleparty if the problem continues.
Playback is out of sync
Teleparty synchronizes playback but cannot guarantee perfect timing. Buffering differences, local pausing or seeking, late arrivals, ad-supported playback, service-interface changes, and unstable connections can interrupt synchronization.

- Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
- Pause playback for everyone.
- Have participants refresh or reopen the party.
- Return to the exact title page.
- Start a new party if the room remains stuck.
- Update or reinstall Teleparty.
If only one viewer is affected, check that person’s browser, account, plan, connection, and regional catalog separately.
The title is unavailable to one participant
This is normally a catalog, region, plan, or account-access issue rather than a party-link failure. Choose a title available to everyone; Teleparty cannot make a region-locked title appear in another country.
Ads behave differently
Ad-supported plans may not produce identical timing or playback behavior. Teleparty’s extension release notes include fixes for ad-based plans and service-interface changes, so update the extension and restart the party rather than assuming every tier behaves identically.

Privacy and party-link safety
Share invitation links privately and avoid posting them in public channels. Review Teleparty’s current privacy information before signing in, especially if you are organizing a large group. For public or very large events, remember that a party link is an invitation to a specific room, not a substitute for access controls.
