Open the archived video under Content, select Editor, choose End screen, add a video or playlist, set its timing and placement, preview, and save. YouTube’s general end-screen guidance covers videos, but does not promise that the editor is available on every livestream archive—check the specific archive before planning around it.
How to add an end screen to a 24/7 stream archive
- End the stream and locate its archive. In YouTube Studio, find the livestream recording under Content (live content may be available from the Live tab). Wait until the archive is available to edit.
- Open the video editor. Select the archived video, choose Editor from the left menu, then select End screen.
- Add the next-watch element. Choose Video to feature a particular related video, let YouTube select a viewer-relevant video, or feature a recent upload. Choose Playlist to direct viewers to a public YouTube playlist.
- Set timing and placement. Keep the element within the eligible ending, position it where it will not cover important picture content, and consider the composition of the final shot.
- Preview and save. Check that the end screen is readable and that its video or playlist is the intended destination before saving.
- Measure clicks. In the video’s Engagement analytics, look for End screen element click rate. Channel-level analytics also include cards for top element types and videos by end-screen activity.

Choose a destination that fits the stream
Feature one related video
A specific video gives the viewer a direct next step—for example, another documentary on the same subject or a related episode. If the archive has an appropriate recent upload, YouTube also provides a recent-video option. Its viewer-relevant selection option lets YouTube choose a video for the viewer.
Send viewers to a playlist
A public playlist is a better fit when the next step is a sequence: a documentary series, a set of films on one topic, or a curated collection. Check that the playlist is public and ordered as intended before linking it.

YouTube also supports subscribe and channel elements, plus an external website element for eligible channels in the YouTube Partner Program. These options serve different goals from sending a viewer to another video or playlist.
End-screen limits and display conditions
- Timing: End screens occupy the final 5–20 seconds of a video. The video must be at least 25 seconds long.
- Element count: A standard 16:9 video can have up to four elements. Other aspect ratios may have a lower limit.
- Eligibility: End screens are unavailable on videos set as made for kids. YouTube also lists the YouTube Music app, Flash videos, mobile web, and 360 videos as contexts where they are unavailable.
- Viewer experience: Viewers can hide end screens, and how they appear can vary by device and context. A configured end screen is not a guarantee that every viewer will see it.

Can you add an end screen to every livestream archive?
Not necessarily. YouTube documents end-screen editing for videos and separately documents livestream archive management; its guidance does not expressly guarantee that every live archive will expose the End screen option. Open the archive’s Editor and verify that the control is present. If it is missing, the documented guidance does not establish an archive-specific workaround. A separately edited and uploaded video may be a practical alternative, but it is not a confirmed workaround for adding an end screen to that archive.
There is also a practical limit to treating one continuous 24/7 broadcast as one replay destination: YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as a backup. Its archive guidance does not make a complete replay of a longer continuous stream certain.

End screens versus Live Redirect
An end screen is attached to a video and configured in that video’s Editor. Live Redirect is a separate feature for sending a live audience to a Premiere or another live stream after the current stream ends. If the goal is to move viewers from one live event directly into another, evaluate Live Redirect rather than treating it as an end-screen setting. See YouTube’s Live Redirect guidance.
