To run Tamil devotional music as a YouTube Live loop, prepare a visual and a playlist you have permission to stream, connect an encoder to a YouTube Live event, configure and test the repeat behavior in that encoder, then check the Live Control Room preview before starting the event. YouTube’s setup guides cover the live connection and stream checks, but repeat-playlist controls depend on the encoder you choose.
Before you set up the stream
Confirm the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming well before the planned broadcast. Check access in YouTube Studio rather than waiting until the day of the event. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance explains eligibility and activation.
Clear both the composition and the recording
A devotional subject or an old composition does not automatically make a particular recording free to stream. Rights can differ for the composition and the sound recording, as well as by territory and permitted use. YouTube’s live-stream terms require you to hold the rights needed for both live and archived use, including applicable music licensing rights. Keep written permissions or license details accessible.
YouTube’s terms state: “You represent and warrant that You have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” A purchased CD or download is not, by itself, proof that you have livestream rights.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream or the stream to be interrupted or terminated. A licensed recording may still trigger Content ID; the rightsholder may need to add your channel to its allowlist. An archived stream can also receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast. A license does not guarantee that automated interruptions will not occur. YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams describes these outcomes.
Prepare the playlist and visual
Assemble media you can lawfully use
Choose the Tamil devotional tracks, confirm permissions for each composition and recording, and decide whether you will play them in a fixed order or a playlist. Prepare a simple static image or visual loop to accompany the audio; this format does not inherently require a live camera or microphone.

Configure the repeat in your encoder
The loop is repeated playback of prepared media by an encoder, not a YouTube playlist setting documented for every encoder. Select an encoder with media playback and repeat controls suitable for your sequence, then test the whole playlist—including the transition from the last item back to the first. The precise controls vary by software and version, so verify them in the encoder you actually use rather than assuming a setting or project will repeat unattended. YouTube lists OBS among encoders that support HLS output, but that does not establish a particular playlist-loop configuration. YouTube’s encoder guidance covers connection options.
Connect an encoder to YouTube Live
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, create a live stream or schedule one in advance. Choose the event settings and audience visibility appropriate to your broadcast.
- Copy the connection details. In the stream’s encoder setup, copy the server URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the key as a password: do not show it in a public screenshot, overlay, recording, or message. If exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting. YouTube explains stream keys and encoder setup.
- Choose an ingest protocol supported by your encoder. YouTube recommends RTMPS when available. HLS is another option supported by some encoders, including OBS, but it has higher latency and requires the relevant HLS ingestion settings. Follow the settings shown for the selected protocol in Live Control Room; do not mix protocol-specific settings. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance describes the available workflows.
- Set a sustainable output quality. Match resolution and bitrate to the prepared media and the upload connection’s reliable capacity. YouTube recommends having upload bandwidth with 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate. For example, if the total bitrate is 5 Mbps, plan for at least 6 Mbps of stable upload capacity. The connection must sustain that margin over time, not just reach it in a brief speed test. YouTube’s recommended encoder settings provide guidance for quality and bitrate.
- Run a complete private test. Start the encoder and inspect the incoming preview in Live Control Room. Confirm picture, audio level, playlist order, repeat behavior, and stream health before starting the public event. YouTube advises testing the stream and monitoring its health. YouTube’s streaming settings guidance covers stream checks.
- Start the event and monitor it. Once preview and sound are correct, start the event from Live Control Room if required by the event workflow. Keep an eye on stream health and the encoder, especially during the opening transition and a playlist wraparound.
- End cleanly and preserve a backup. Stop the encoder and end the event in Live Control Room when finished. If you want a replay, keep the session under 12 hours: YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Make a local recording as a backup. YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance explains the limit.
Choose the setup that fits the broadcast
A software encoder is a practical starting point for prepared audio and visuals. YouTube supports encoder software as well as hardware encoders, but a static music loop does not, by itself, establish a need for dedicated capture hardware or a camera. Compare options on whether they can repeat the playlist reliably, remain stable for the intended duration, use the available upload bandwidth efficiently, and make a local recording. Also confirm what support is available if the stream loses its connection.

Troubleshoot common problems
- No live option or event access: Verify the channel and live-stream eligibility in YouTube Studio and allow for the first-time activation delay, which can take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder: Recheck that the server URL and stream key belong to the same event, that the selected protocol matches the encoder settings, and that the key has not been exposed or reset.
- Buffering or poor stream health: Lower the output bitrate or resolution and retest. Confirm that reliable upload capacity exceeds the total bitrate by YouTube’s recommended 20% margin.
- Audio or picture is missing in preview: Check the encoder’s selected media sources, audio routing, and output levels, then inspect the preview again before starting the event.
- The playlist stops or does not return to its first item: Repeat behavior is encoder-specific. Check the media source or playlist repeat controls in the software version you use and test beyond one full cycle before relying on an unattended broadcast.
- A licensed track is flagged during the live stream: Review the notice in Live Control Room or YouTube Studio. Contact the relevant rightsholder about channel allowlisting if appropriate; possession of a license does not itself prevent Content ID matching or interruption.
- No replay appears: Check whether the event ended normally and whether it exceeded 12 hours. Keep a local recording because YouTube does not guarantee capture of streams longer than that limit.
Or let it run in the cloud
