A regular YouTube playlist is not itself a live stream. You can run the encoder on a computer that stays on, or use a cloud service built for continuous prerecorded-video streaming.
Before you start: check live-stream access and prepare your videos
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s current guidance sets the minimum age for live streaming at 16. If this is your first time enabling live streaming, activation may take up to 24 hours. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming help.
- Choose Malayalam videos you have the right to broadcast, and make sure the files play correctly from beginning to end. Check the video, images, and audio tracks—not just the main footage—for rights issues.
- Decide whether you need individual broadcasts archived. YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours; a single 24-hour broadcast exceeds that window.
DIY method: run a looping playlist through an encoder
1. Create or schedule a YouTube Live stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to enter the Live Control Room. Create or schedule the broadcast and choose its title, description, visibility, and other stream details. You can identify the language and Malayalam content in the metadata; the reviewed YouTube encoder guidance does not specify a separate Malayalam streaming mode.
- In the stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key for your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not post it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel. YouTube explains the encoder workflow in its live encoder guide.
2. Set up the continuous video feed
Use computer software or standalone encoder hardware that can play your prerecorded videos in sequence and repeat them. Keep the encoder running and connected to the internet for as long as you want the broadcast to continue. The specific playlist controls vary by encoder; YouTube’s general guide does not prescribe a particular computer, application, or minimum system requirement for this use case.
Before going live, confirm that the playlist advances between videos, repeats as intended, and produces continuous audio and video. If your encoder has a preview or test mode, use it to check representative sections, including quiet passages, motion, and transitions.
3. Configure the encoder and start the broadcast
YouTube recommends RTMPS. Its encoder settings allow H.264, H.265, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR) encoding; and frame rates up to 60 fps. Set a two-second keyframe interval if possible; YouTube says the interval should not exceed four seconds. Choose resolution and bitrate your upload connection can sustain, then verify the encoder’s output and YouTube’s stream-health messages before relying on a long-running broadcast. Once the encoder is sending video, check the Live Control Room to confirm that YouTube is receiving the stream and that the preview looks and sounds right. Keep monitoring the stream health and messages while it is live; a successful initial connection does not guarantee that the computer, encoder, or internet connection will remain available.
Plan for 24-hour operation and replays

A single 24-hour stream is longer than YouTube’s documented under-12-hour automatic archive window, so do not assume one complete automatic replay will be available. If a replay matters, consider shorter sessions and check the resulting archive in YouTube Studio.

Clear rights before broadcasting Malayalam content
You are responsible for having the necessary rights to everything in the live feed, including music. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A match can replace the live picture, interrupt the broadcast, or terminate it. YouTube also warns that licensed third-party content can still be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Review the current guidance on copyright issues with live streams and YouTube’s Terms of Service before scheduling.
For a practical preflight, confirm permissions for each video, soundtrack, image, and other included material; do not assume that crediting an owner or having a license alone prevents an automated interruption.

Troubleshoot common failures
- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification, live-stream eligibility, and whether initial activation is still processing. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours; also check for a restriction in the prior 90 days.
- YouTube receives no video: Confirm the encoder is running, the stream URL and key are entered correctly, and the computer or encoder is online. If you suspect the key was exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- The stream health warning appears or playback stutters: Check the upload connection and whether the chosen bitrate and resolution are sustainable. Confirm CBR encoding and the keyframe interval, then test again with representative footage.
- The broadcast is interrupted after a copyright match: Review the specific content identified in YouTube’s notice and resolve rights or Content ID allowlisting issues with the relevant rights owner before restarting.
- You cannot find a full 24-hour replay: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours. Check Studio’s archive status and consider shorter sessions if complete replays are important.
