The cited VLC documentation does not establish a direct YouTube ingest method. For Telugu film songs, clear the rights first; then use a supported encoder workflow or a cloud service designed to loop uploaded videos.
Can VLC stream directly to YouTube Live?
Do not assume VLC alone can take a playlist of old Telugu movie songs and publish it as a YouTube livestream. VLC has a flexible stream-output chain for media it can read, including options to process, transcode, duplicate, save or send media over a network. Its documented standard network outputs include HTTP, UDP and RTP. YouTube’s encoder instructions, by contrast, call for an encoder configured with YouTube’s stream URL and stream key, and recommend RTMPS. The cited VLC pages do not document RTMP or RTMPS as a standard VLC network destination or establish a compatible direct workflow.
That distinction matters: a VLC network stream working on a local network does not prove that YouTube can ingest it. Avoid copying commands that put a stream key into an unverified VLC destination. The key is a credential; YouTube describes it as being like a password and address. Keep it private and reset it if it is exposed.
VideoLAN’s documentation explains VLC’s capabilities at Introduction to Stream Output and Introduction to the Standard Output Module. Those pages describe VLC 3.0 stream output; they are not a verified recipe for YouTube Live.

Clear the music rights before building a continuous stream
An old release is not automatically free to rebroadcast. A song being available online, or having been released decades ago, does not establish that you have permission to use it in a public 24/7 livestream. YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have all necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content, including music licensing rights involving artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Review the YouTube livestream terms and conditions and obtain the permissions applicable to your recordings and territories before streaming.
YouTube may restrict live access for copyright-related reasons, including a copyright strike on an active livestream or a match to another copyrighted live broadcast. See YouTube’s guidance on avoiding live-stream restrictions. Do not treat a lack of an immediate claim as proof that a song is cleared, and do not describe a particular Telugu film song as public domain without jurisdiction-specific evidence and a rights analysis.

Check that the channel can go live
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance requires a verified channel, no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and that the creator be at least 16 years old. Enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours. Start setup well before the planned launch and check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance if the option is unavailable.
Use YouTube’s supported encoder workflow
Once you have rights-cleared material and an eligible channel, YouTube’s documented encoder process is the reliable foundation. This is not a VLC-only recipe: choose a software or hardware encoder that supports YouTube’s ingest settings. YouTube supports software encoders as well as recommending professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events; a hardware device is not required solely because the stream runs continuously.

- Enable live streaming. In YouTube Studio, open the live-streaming setup and complete any required verification or activation. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours.
- Create or open the stream in Live Control Room. Use YouTube Studio’s live-streaming flow to configure the stream. For the encoder workflow, retrieve the stream URL and stream key from the stream settings. Labels can change; use the fields shown in Live Control Room rather than relying on a third-party command example.
- Choose a compatible encoder and enter the ingest details. In the encoder’s YouTube or custom RTMP/RTMPS destination settings, use the stream URL and key supplied by YouTube. Prefer RTMPS where the encoder offers it. Treat the key like a password: do not post it, include it in public screenshots, or share it with people who do not need access.
- Prepare a representative source and playlist. Make sure the recordings are locally accessible to the encoder and that you have permission to stream them. Set up the playlist or playback method in the encoder workflow you selected; the cited YouTube setup pages do not prescribe a VLC playlist or guarantee automatic playlist recovery.
- Set compatible encoding parameters. YouTube’s standard encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265 or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. Use a resolution and bitrate that the encoder and upload connection can sustain. For a music-led stream, the audio still needs an encoder-supported video feed that meets YouTube’s ingest requirements; do not assume that sending audio alone or choosing a high video bitrate improves the song audio.
- Test before going public. Start sending the encoder feed and inspect YouTube’s preview. Test representative audio and video, check that the picture and sound remain synchronized, and choose a bitrate that is reliable for the available upload connection. YouTube recommends testing bitrate and the actual audio/video before the event.
- Go live and monitor stream health. Follow the Live Control Room prompt to start the public stream. Watch stream-health indicators and messages while it runs; investigate dropped frames, connection instability or other warnings rather than assuming a feed that started will remain healthy.

Plan for a 24-hour run, not just a successful start
A continuous broadcast needs more than a working encoder configuration. The computer or server running a local encoder must stay powered, connected and able to play the playlist; someone should be able to respond to interruptions. Confirm that your chosen playback and encoder setup can loop the intended material and recover after playback or network failures before depending on it for an unattended channel. The cited VLC and YouTube pages do not establish that a VLC playlist will automatically recover or run unattended indefinitely.

Also plan separately for recording the live session. YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that a single 24-hour stream receives the same automatic archive behavior. See the archive note in YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.

Common problems and fixes
- YouTube does not show a stream preview: Confirm live streaming is enabled, that the encoder is sending to the current YouTube stream URL, and that the matching stream key is entered correctly. If you have just enabled live streaming, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- The stream key may have leaked: Treat it as compromised if it appears in a public screenshot, video, command, or chat. Replace or reset it in YouTube’s live stream settings, then update the encoder.
- The feed starts but stream health is poor: Test upload bitrate, lower the chosen quality if the connection cannot sustain it, and use the encoder settings YouTube recommends. Check the live preview and stream-health messages.
- VLC can send to a local destination but YouTube does not ingest it: The documented VLC HTTP, UDP and RTP outputs are not proof of a compatible YouTube encoder feed. Switch to an encoder workflow documented for YouTube rather than guessing a VLC destination or exposing the key in a command.
- The stream stops during a long run: Check power, network stability, source-file availability and encoder/playback recovery behavior. A successful initial test does not establish unattended restart or failover.
- A song triggers a copyright issue or live restriction: Stop relying on that material until the relevant rights are resolved. Age, online availability or an earlier uninterrupted broadcast does not establish permission to rebroadcast.
