You can run a 24/7 Telugu music channel on YouTube, but the first requirement is permission—not an encoder. Secure rights for the specific recordings and compositions, confirm that those rights cover continuous YouTube livestreaming, your intended territories and any archive, then prepare and test the channel before launch. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, so a stream can be interrupted even when you have a licence unless the relevant owner has also allowlisted your channel through Content ID.
1. Clear the music rights before building the stream
A working stream setup does not give you permission to broadcast the songs. You are responsible for having the rights needed for the live content. YouTube’s livestream terms say the provider represents that it has the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers—including public performance licences—and other royalty participants. That is YouTube’s platform wording, not a complete explanation of which licences apply in any particular country.
Clear both the recording and the underlying song
A Telugu track can involve separate rights in the sound recording and the underlying composition, including its music and lyrics. Identify the relevant rights holders or authorized representatives for every recording you plan to play. A label, distributor, publisher, artist or other participant may control different permissions; do not assume that one party can grant all of them.
Get written confirmation for the specific catalog and intended use. Ask whether the permission covers a continuous YouTube livestream, the territories where viewers may watch, any promotional use, and whether YouTube may retain an archived recording after the broadcast. Confirm who can authorize each right and whether any conditions, exclusions, reporting duties or limits apply. YouTube’s guidance recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music in a live stream.

Do not assume a subscription or a video licence is enough
A consumer music-streaming subscription is not evidence that you have permission to rebroadcast its catalog on YouTube. Nor should you assume that a licence for an ordinary uploaded video covers a continuous live radio format. YouTube’s Creator Music FAQ says Creator Music does not support licensing for live content, so it is not a shortcut for this use case.
The YouTube material cited here does not establish India-specific or other territory-specific licensing steps, and it does not verify that any particular Telugu library or distributor grants these rights. Ask the rights holders or their authorized representatives about the catalog and territories you actually plan to use. For local legal or licensing requirements, get advice specific to the relevant jurisdiction rather than treating YouTube’s terms as a complete legal analysis.
Request Content ID allowlisting as a separate step
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If it finds a match, it may replace the live image with a placeholder and warn you to stop using that content; continued use can temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube specifically tells creators who have licensed third-party content to ask the owner to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist.

A licence and an allowlist are not the same thing. Ask the relevant owner or authorized distributor to confirm that your channel is allowlisted for the licensed catalog. YouTube says a live stream may still be interrupted without that step, even if the creator has a licence or has restricted viewing to territories where they own the necessary rights.

2. Decide whether the broadcast will be archived
Choose the archive policy before launch and include it in the permission request. If you plan to retain the stream on your channel, make sure the rights holders have explicitly confirmed that the agreement covers the resulting archive or video-on-demand use, not just the live transmission. YouTube notes that Content ID claims may be made after a live stream ends if it is archived.
- Live only: Confirm that the permission covers the live broadcast and make an operational plan for what happens when it ends.
- Live plus archive: Confirm that the same recordings and compositions may remain available in the archived stream, in the intended territories and for the agreed period.
- Unclear scope: Do not treat silence about archives, territories or live use as permission. Ask for clarification before scheduling the broadcast.
3. Prepare the YouTube channel
Enable live streaming ahead of the launch
- Verify the YouTube account by phone.
- Enable live streaming at least 24 hours before the first planned broadcast. Do not leave first-time activation until launch day.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and prepare the broadcast. Keep the stream private or unlisted for the test rather than directing viewers to an unverified setup.
YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test before a high-production or high-investment event. Its 2025 guidance also reports that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is a platform-wide statistic; it does not establish demand for Telugu music or predict the audience for a particular channel.

Choose a production path that matches your needs
You can use a simple live setup or an encoder. YouTube for Artists describes an encoder as a way to get more production customization and control than a basic mobile or webcam stream. An encoder is optional; the cited guidance does not require a particular model or establish that any specific device is suitable for continuous 24/7 operation.
For an encoder, use YouTube’s current technical guidance for the selected resolution and frame rate when setting video bitrate, keyframe interval and audio parameters. The official materials cited here do not provide a complete, current settings table or a validated 24/7 equipment configuration, so do not copy arbitrary values from another creator or assume that a setting suitable for a short event is suitable for continuous broadcasting. Check the equipment and connection you intend to use, and test that exact configuration before going live.

4. Build a safe playlist and run an unlisted test
- Make a rights-tracked playlist. Keep a record of each planned recording, the relevant sound-recording and composition permissions, the territories and uses allowed, archive scope, and the owner or representative who confirmed the terms.
- Check allowlisting. Confirm with the relevant rights holders or authorized distributors that the channel is on the Content ID allowlist for the catalog you intend to play. Keep their confirmation accessible to the people operating the stream.
- Prepare the broadcast and playback source. Configure your chosen production method to play only the cleared material. If you use an encoder, follow current YouTube recommendations for its video and audio settings and verify that the selected equipment can sustain the intended run.
- Start an unlisted test. Check that the stream appears in Live Control Room, that the audio and picture play as expected, and that the playlist advances correctly. This test helps validate production; it does not itself establish that the music is licensed.
- Review the test and permissions. Resolve any playback or platform warnings, and confirm that the actual playlist matches the catalog and scope that were cleared before announcing a public launch.
5. Monitor the live stream and handle claims
Keep someone responsible for the channel while it is live. Watch Live Control Room for match warnings and be ready to stop or replace a track if YouTube identifies third-party content. A written licence does not guarantee that Content ID will recognize the permission automatically; an allowlist request is important to reduce the risk of a match interrupting the broadcast, but do not describe it as a guarantee against every interruption.
If a stream is interrupted, follow the warning and stop using the identified material rather than repeatedly restarting the same playlist unchanged. Contact the relevant rights holder or authorized distributor to check the permission and allowlist status. If you keep an archive, review it after the live broadcast for Content ID claims and follow YouTube’s process for resolving a claim; do not assume that an uninterrupted live session means the archive is claim-free.
6. Plan for the realities of 24/7 operation
A continuous stream needs a plan for more than pressing “Go live.” The YouTube sources cited here do not provide a complete current checklist for machine uptime, redundant internet, failover, encoder configuration or continuous-broadcast limits. Choose equipment or a hosting approach only after checking its current capabilities and costs for your own setup. Test the full arrangement, including what the operator will do if playback stops, the connection fails, YouTube interrupts the stream or a rights warning appears.

Compare possible approaches on the factors that matter to this channel: whether music permissions cover recordings, compositions, territories and archives; whether the rights holders can allowlist the channel; what recovery controls the device or service provides; how much production control you need; and what it costs to keep the system running.
