YouTube pays the channel’s partner under the applicable monetization agreement; the collaborators then need a separate written agreement defining how they divide the money actually received. A 24/7 schedule does not change that distinction, and it does not exempt a stream from YouTube’s monetization or copyright policies.
Separate YouTube’s share from your collaborators’ split
YouTube’s partner terms determine what the channel earns from each eligible monetization feature. They do not prescribe how two or more people working on the channel must divide those earnings. A 50/50 arrangement may suit particular collaborators, but it is a negotiated choice—not a YouTube rule or an established industry standard.
YouTube’s current earnings overview describes a 70% partner share of net revenues from channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks under the Commerce Product Module. It describes a 55% partner share of net revenues from ads shown or streamed on public videos on the content Watch Page under the Watch Page Monetization Module. These are YouTube-to-partner rates, not collaborator-to-collaborator percentages. Confirm the creator’s signed terms and applicable modules before using a rate in your calculations. YouTube also lists YouTube Premium and Shopping among monetization features. Whether a particular feature is available or applies depends on eligibility and the channel’s terms. Fan-funding features have their own conditions: creators must be in the YouTube Partner Program, be at least 18, live where the feature is available, meet feature-specific criteria, accept the relevant module or addendum, and follow applicable policies. Agree on what money the split covers
Before the stream earns money, list the income sources included in the arrangement and state what is excluded. A clear agreement might distinguish watch-page ads, memberships, Super Chat and Super Stickers, Super Thanks, YouTube Premium, Shopping, and separately negotiated sponsorships. It should also say whether revenue from unrelated videos or other channels belongs to the project.
Do not leave the calculation base at “net revenue” without defining it. Specify whether collaborator shares are calculated from finalized platform receipts, what platform deductions or refunds are reflected, and which documented operating costs—if any—come out before the split. Distinguish platform accounting language from your own definition of distributable cash.

Choose a formula that matches the work and risk
There is no supported universal percentage to start from. Instead, compare the proposed terms using the actual contributions and obligations of each collaborator. Consider:
- Recurring work: Who handles stream setup and maintenance, moderation, programming, technical operations, audience development, and coverage when problems arise?
- Contributions and rights: Who provides the channel, existing audience, format, content, music or other rights, and brand assets?
- Costs: Who pays for equipment, software, rights, or other operating expenses, and which costs qualify for reimbursement before distributions?
- Exposure: Who bears the practical risk of policy or rights disputes, payment adjustments, and interruptions to the continuous stream?
- Duration: Does the arrangement reward only initial setup, or does it account for recurring duties over time?
These are negotiation factors, not a platform formula. The right allocation depends on the collaborators’ actual roles, rights, expenses, channel structure, and risk tolerance.

Plan for estimates, adjustments, and payout timing
YouTube’s estimated earnings can change after they are generated because of invalid traffic, Content ID claims, disputes, or certain ad campaign types. YouTube says finalized previous-month earnings are generally added to the AdSense for YouTube balance between the 7th and 12th of the current month. Actual payout timing can also depend on payment thresholds, holds, tax information, and policy compliance. Your agreement should therefore identify which records govern distributions and how later adjustments are handled. YouTube partner earnings overview
Decide whether the project retains a reserve for expenses or reversals, how a later Content ID or invalid-traffic adjustment affects prior payments, and whether a future distribution can reconcile an overpayment. Set a distribution cadence and date, the payment method, any minimum distribution amount, who can review Analytics and finalized payment records, how statements are shared, and how collaborators can raise a discrepancy.
Put responsibilities, access, and exit terms in writing
A revenue percentage alone does not explain how a 24/7 collaboration works. Address who owns or controls the channel and project assets; who is responsible for content and music rights; each person’s duties during the continuous stream; and how account access will be granted, changed, or handed over through appropriate channel permissions. Also define what happens if someone stops contributing, the stream ends, or the collaboration terminates—including how previously earned but unpaid amounts are handled.

YouTube’s public monetization guidance explains platform terms and earnings; it does not settle ownership or legal rights between collaborators. Those terms depend on the parties’ circumstances and jurisdiction. Consider having a qualified professional review an agreement tailored to your arrangement rather than treating a generic percentage as a complete contract.

YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. A 24/7 schedule does not shield a stream or channel from policy issues, and policy violations or Content ID claims may limit or eliminate earnings or lead YouTube to withhold or adjust earnings. Review the YouTube channel monetization policies and make sure collaborators understand who is responsible for rights clearance and responding to claims.
