To sign in to Amazon Prime Video on a smart TV, install and open the Prime Video app, choose Sign In or Sign In and Start Watching, then complete the method shown on screen: scan a QR code, enter the displayed registration code at primevideo.com/mytv, or enter your Amazon credentials directly on the TV. The exact screens vary by TV brand, model, and software version.
Use the Amazon account that has the Prime membership, Prime Video subscription, or purchased content you want to watch. Your Samsung, LG, Google, Roku, or TV-manufacturer account is not automatically the account you need for Prime Video.
These steps reflect Amazon and manufacturer support information checked August 7, 2026. Menu names and available features can vary by country, TV model, and software version.
What you need before signing in
- A smart TV connected to the internet.
- The Prime Video app installed on the TV, or access to the TV’s app store.
- The Amazon account associated with the Prime Video entitlement you intend to use.
- A phone, tablet, or computer if the TV gives you a QR code or registration code.
Prime Video access may come from an Amazon Prime membership, a separate Prime Video subscription, or an eligible purchased title. If you use the wrong Amazon account, the app may accept the login but show no expected membership or purchases.

Standard sign-in steps
- Connect the TV to the internet. Check the TV’s network settings if other online apps also fail to load.
- Open the TV’s app store and search for Prime Video.
- Install the app if it is not already on the TV. Some supported televisions include Prime Video by default.
- Open Prime Video.
- Select Sign In or Sign In and Start Watching. Amazon uses different labels and registration screens on different devices.
- Complete the sign-in method displayed on the TV: QR code, registration code, or direct login.
Once registration succeeds, the TV app should refresh and show the Prime Video home screen. If it does not, wait briefly and then restart the sign-in process from the app.
Option 1: Sign in with the registration code
A code-based sign-in is often the easiest option when typing with a TV remote is inconvenient.
- On a phone, tablet, or computer, open primevideo.com/mytv.
- Sign in using the Amazon account that has the intended Prime Video subscription or content entitlement.
- Enter the registration code currently shown on the TV.
- Select Register Device.
- Return to the TV and wait for Prime Video to complete registration.
Use the code from the current TV screen only. Registration codes can expire or become invalid after you restart the process. If the code fails, return to the Prime Video app, begin sign-in again, generate a new code, and enter that new code at primevideo.com/mytv.
Important: Amazon’s current Prime Video registration link is primevideo.com/mytv. Instructions telling you to use amazon.com/mytv are outdated or may refer to older Amazon routing.
Option 2: Sign in with a QR code
- Open the camera app on your phone.
- Point it at the QR code shown by Prime Video on the TV.
- Open the notification or link produced by the scan.
- Follow Amazon’s sign-in and registration prompts.
- Choose the Amazon account associated with the Prime Video access you want to use.
Amazon also says its Prime Video mobile app may display a sign-in notification when the phone is connected to the same home network as the TV. This notification is not guaranteed to appear. If it does not appear, use the QR code or the code-entry method shown on the TV instead. Amazon documents these registration options in its Prime Video sign-in help.
Option 3: Enter your Amazon details directly on the TV
Some smart TVs display Sign in and Start Watching and let you enter the Amazon account email address and password with the remote or an attached keyboard. If this option appears, follow the on-screen prompts and use the Amazon account linked to your Prime Video entitlement.

Do not assume that every television offers direct credential entry. Amazon supports several sign-in designs, including QR registration and code entry, so the absence of a password box is normal.
Brand-specific ways to find Prime Video
After locating the app, the sign-in process is generally the same. The paths below are manufacturer-documented examples; exact labels can change with the TV model, operating system, region, and software update.

Samsung Smart TV
On current Samsung televisions, try:
Home → Apps → Downloaded apps → Prime Video
Prime Video may already be installed. If it is in Downloaded apps but not visible in the Home or Quick Access area, Samsung documents selecting the app, holding Enter, and choosing Add to home. Samsung provides its current instructions in its Prime Video app support guide.
Amazon lists Prime Video support for selected Samsung TV models from 2015 onward, while some Samsung models released in 2012 are no longer supported. This is model-specific, so an older Samsung TV may not show the app even when the internet connection is working. Check Amazon’s supported Smart TV list.
LG webOS TV
The path depends on the webOS version:
- 2022 webOS 22: Home → Apps → Search icon → search for Prime Video → select the app → Install → Launch.
- 2020 webOS 5.0: Home → LG Content Store → Search icon → search for Prime Video → select the app → Install → Launch.
LG availability and supported Prime Video features depend on the particular television model. See LG’s smart-app installation instructions and Amazon’s supported-device information.
Google TV
Google TV provides two documented ways to find the app:

- Home → Search → type or say Prime Video → select the app → Install.
- Home → Apps → select Prime Video and follow the installation instructions.
On Google TV, the installation control is labeled Install. After installation, open Prime Video and choose the sign-in option shown.
Sony TV
Sony’s menu names vary by model. Look under one of these areas:
HOME or MENU → Video, Application, My Apps, or Apps → Prime Video → Sign In or Sign In and Start Watching
If Prime Video is missing on a supported Android TV model, Sony says to download it from the Google Play Store. Sony’s Prime Video sign-in guide includes examples of the different menu paths.
Roku TV
On Roku, open Prime Video from the Roku Home screen and sign in with the streaming service’s username and password. Because Prime Video is a service obtained directly from Amazon, use the Amazon account credentials—not the Roku account credentials. Roku explains this distinction in its sign-in-to-apps support article.
Which account should you use?
Use the Amazon account that actually owns or receives the Prime Video access. This might be the account used to pay for:

- Amazon Prime;
- a standalone Prime Video subscription;
- a Prime Video channel or other eligible subscription; or
- a movie or program purchased through Amazon.
A Samsung account, LG account, Google account, Roku account, Apple ID, or television manufacturer account does not automatically provide Prime Video access. Those accounts may be needed to operate the TV or install apps, but they are separate from the Amazon account used inside Prime Video.
If you are unsure which Amazon account has the subscription, sign in to Amazon or Prime Video on a phone or computer and check the membership or purchase information before registering the TV. Amazon’s sign-in troubleshooting guidance specifically recommends checking that the credentials belong to the account intended for Prime Video.
Prime Video sign-in problems and fixes
The Prime Video app is missing
If Prime Video does not appear in the app store, that does not necessarily mean the television is malfunctioning. Possible explanations include:
- the TV model is not supported;
- the television is too old;
- the app is hidden somewhere else in the TV’s app interface;
- Prime Video is no longer available for that model; or
- the TV’s app store or internet connection is not working.
Amazon supports Prime Video only on selected smart-TV models, and features vary by model. Check Amazon’s supported Smart TV list for the exact manufacturer and model where possible. If the TV is unsupported, installing the app may not be possible through its built-in store.
The registration code does not work
- Confirm that you opened primevideo.com/mytv, not an outdated activation address.
- Make sure you are signed in to the correct Amazon account.
- Enter the code currently displayed on the TV, exactly as shown.
- If you already tried that code, restart sign-in in the TV app and request a new one.
- Try again later if Amazon or the TV is experiencing a temporary connection problem.
Do not reuse a code from an earlier attempt. Amazon identifies temporary connection problems as one possible cause of sign-in failure.
The TV is linked to the wrong Amazon account
If Prime Video opens under another account or normal sign-out is unavailable, remove the TV’s registration remotely:

- Open the Prime Video website.
- Go to Account & Settings → Devices.
- Find the affected television.
- Select Deregister beside that device.
- Reopen Prime Video on the TV and complete sign-in with the correct Amazon account.

The login succeeds, but a title will not play
Device registration only confirms that the TV is connected to an Amazon account; it does not guarantee that every Prime Video title or feature will work on every television. Availability can depend on the country, title, subscription type, and TV model. Amazon also notes that supported features may vary, including:
- the available catalog;
- live streaming;
- profiles;
- subtitles and audio tracks; and
- maximum playback quality.
Check the title and device limitations rather than assuming that a successful sign-in guarantees access to every feature. Amazon’s supported Smart TV documentation lists these model-dependent differences.
The app freezes or sign-in keeps failing
Work through these checks in order:
- Confirm that the Amazon email address and password belong to the intended Prime Video account.
- Try the sign-in process again in case the failure was caused by a temporary connection problem.
- Close Prime Video and reopen it.
- Restart the television.
- If the problem continues, turn the TV off, unplug it for about one minute, reconnect it, and turn it back on. Sony recommends this restart procedure for some devices.
- Deregister the TV from Account & Settings → Devices, then register it again.

- Using the TV brand’s account: Prime Video requires the Amazon account associated with the subscription or purchased content.
- Assuming every TV has the same menus: sign-in labels and app locations differ across manufacturers, models, and software versions.
- Typing your password when the TV offers a code: QR registration or code entry may be faster and is an official sign-in method.
- Using an old activation URL: use primevideo.com/mytv for the current Prime Video registration flow.
- Assuming a missing app means a broken TV: the model may be unsupported or the app may have been retired for that platform.
- Assuming registration unlocks every title: catalog access and features still depend on location, subscription, title, and TV model.

The reliable process is: install or open Prime Video, choose the sign-in option shown by your TV, and use the correct Amazon account. For a code, go to primevideo.com/mytv; for a QR code, scan it with your phone. If the app is missing, the TV may be unsupported rather than faulty, and if playback fails after registration, check model, country, title, and subscription limitations.
