For a continuous YouTube Live real estate showcase, start with YouTube’s automatic resolution and frame-rate detection. If you need to choose manually, create a custom stream key in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, enable manual settings under Stream resolution, and set the encoder’s resolution, frame rate, and bitrate as a matching combination your venue’s upload connection can sustain. YouTube does not prescribe a best resolution specifically for real estate: choose the detail level that remains reliable on your connection.
Choose automatic or manual resolution
Automatic detection is the default
With a custom stream key, YouTube detects the incoming resolution and frame rate automatically. For many setups, leave this enabled and configure the encoder to send a supported format at a sustainable bitrate.
When to set resolution manually
If you need control over the incoming format, create a custom stream key in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and enable manual settings under Stream resolution. The encoder’s resolution and frame rate must match the settings you intend to send. YouTube’s documentation does not name a preferred resolution for room interiors, property exteriors, or real estate tours, so decide based on desired image detail and stable upload capacity rather than assuming 4K is always better.
Configure YouTube Live and the encoder
- Prepare a stream in YouTube Studio. Open Go Live and prepare an encoder stream. Use the stream URL and stream key shown in the encoder workflow: the URL routes the feed to YouTube, and the key authorizes it.
- Choose how resolution is controlled. Keep automatic detection, or use a custom stream key and enable manual settings under Stream resolution in Live Control Room.
- Set a supported protocol and codec. YouTube lists RTMP or RTMPS as supported protocols and H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 as supported video codecs. Its guidance supports up to 60 fps.
- Set rate control and keyframes. Use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says the interval should not exceed four seconds.
- Match bitrate to codec, resolution, and frame rate. Use the corresponding row in the table below. These figures are live encoder ingestion recommendations, not settings for uploading a prerecorded video.
- Test before the showcase. Run an upload speed test and test the stream with audio and movement similar to the actual event. Monitor stream health and any messages in YouTube during the broadcast.
YouTube-recommended live ingestion bitrates
The table reproduces YouTube Help’s minimum and recommended bitrate values in Mbps. Select the column matching the incoming codec family and the row matching both resolution and frame rate. A minimum is not a guarantee of stability: the connection must sustain the feed reliably, including during the event.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Incoming resolution and frame rate | AV1/H.265 minimum | AV1/H.265 recommended | H.264 minimum | H.264 recommended |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2160p (4K) at 60 fps | 10 Mbps | 35 Mbps | 14 Mbps | 50 Mbps |
| 2160p (4K) at 30 fps | 8 Mbps | 30 Mbps | 11 Mbps | 42 Mbps |
| 1440p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps | 24 Mbps | 8 Mbps | 34 Mbps |
| 1440p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 15 Mbps | 7 Mbps | 21 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 4 Mbps | 12 Mbps | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 4 Mbps | 10 Mbps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 2 Mbps | 6 Mbps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 2 Mbps | 6 Mbps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 480p at 30 fps | 0.3 Mbps | 3 Mbps | 0.4 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
| 360p at 30 fps | 0.3 Mbps | 3 Mbps | 0.4 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
For example, YouTube recommends 14 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p30 and 17 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p60; the listed minimums are 5 Mbps and 6 Mbps, respectively. The recommended figure is a useful target, but nominal upload speed alone does not establish that a connection will remain stable.
Plan for a continuous stream’s archive and DVR limits
Keep a separate recording if the replay matters
YouTube says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. Its archive guidance says streams at 1440p and 2160p are automatically archived, but that does not remove the explicit risk for streams that exceed 12 hours.

Know what viewers can rewind
DVR allows viewers to pause and rewind a live stream, but YouTube says this capability may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Viewers cannot seek to a point before the stream began. If retaining a complete replay or viewer rewind is important, consider running the showcase as separate shorter sessions and keep an independent recording; splitting sessions is an operational response to YouTube’s stated limits, not a platform requirement.
Troubleshoot resolution and stream reliability
- The incoming resolution or frame rate is not what you expected: Check whether the stream is using automatic detection or a custom stream key with manual settings enabled under Stream resolution. Confirm the encoder is configured for the intended output.
- The stream struggles at a higher resolution: Check the bitrate against YouTube’s matching codec, resolution, and frame-rate row, then test the venue’s upload connection. If it cannot sustain the target reliably, reduce resolution, frame rate, or both rather than relying on a higher nominal setting.
- The encoder does not connect to YouTube: Verify that the encoder uses the stream URL and the correct stream key from the prepared YouTube Studio stream, and that it is sending with a supported protocol and codec.
- Motion or audio behaves differently during the event than in a setup check: Repeat the test with comparable audio and movement, then watch YouTube’s stream-health information and messages while live.
- The replay is missing or viewers cannot rewind a long broadcast: A stream over 12 hours may not be archived, and DVR may be limited or unavailable beyond that duration. Use a local recording if a replay matters; for viewer rewind, plan around the 12-hour limitation.
Or let it run in the cloud
For an uploaded, prerecorded showcase that should loop continuously on YouTube, StreamNeo keeps the stream running from the cloud, so no computer or home internet connection has to stay on. Upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
