You can stream a product catalog around the clock by turning its product footage into a continuous video feed and sending that feed to YouTube Live through an encoder. First confirm your channel can livestream, prepare a rights-cleared program, and choose whether to run the encoder locally or use a cloud service. If you want viewers to shop from the stream, product tagging is a separate YouTube Shopping feature with eligibility and regional limits.
What you need for a continuous catalog stream
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- A continuous video program assembled from product footage, demonstrations, or other catalog visuals. Decide the order and how often products should recur.
- An encoder: YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders. Its encoder guidance also lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for streaming prerecorded videos 24/7; that listing is not an endorsement or a guarantee of current terms or uptime.
- The YouTube Live server URL and stream key, which you enter into the encoder. Treat the stream key as a password and keep it private.
- Rights to all video, images, music, narration, and other material used in the stream.
YouTube describes an encoder this way: “An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube.” See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for the current workflow.
Set up and launch the stream
- Confirm livestream access. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. If this is your first livestream, enable the feature early; activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Build the program feed. Arrange the catalog footage into a continuous sequence. Make the products and their details legible on mobile as well as desktop, and avoid implying that an item is available or performs in a way that the video cannot substantiate.
- Create or schedule a stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule the livestream. Use the stream settings YouTube provides for an encoder stream.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your software, hardware encoder, or cloud streaming service. Do not publish the key or include it in a public production document.
- Preview before going live. Check the incoming video and audio in Live Control Room, then start the encoder and confirm the stream appears on the channel and watch page. Test playback on a phone as well as on the device used to produce it.
- Monitor and recover. Keep an eye on audio and picture quality, verify watch-page availability, and test any failover or local recording you have configured. A 24/7 goal is not a guarantee of zero downtime.
Make the stream useful as a product catalog
Choose a clear sequence
Organize clips by category, use case, or campaign so viewers can understand what they are seeing even when they join midstream. Include accurate product names and details in the video where appropriate. Check the sequence periodically for discontinued items, changed offers, or outdated claims.
Use YouTube Shopping tags only when eligible
Product tagging is not automatic simply because a livestream shows products. YouTube says products should be featured prominently, used safely, and meaningfully related to the stream’s subject. Creator and content eligibility, the selected retailer, supported regions, and viewer delivery region can affect whether tags are available or shown. Some content cannot display product tags, including streams with claimed content, streams designated Made for Kids, or streams that are not eligible for monetization. Check the current rules in YouTube’s live product-tagging guidance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If you feature your own products, connect the relevant shop through YouTube Shopping where available. For products from other brands, confirm that the retailer and product are supported. Product tags alone do not establish that you earn a commission or have a tracked affiliate link; verify those commercial terms separately. Disclose paid promotions where applicable.
Choose where the stream runs
| Approach | Who operates it | Local computer needed? | What to plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | You operate the encoding software and feed. | Usually, the computer running the encoder must stay on and connected. | Power and network interruptions, monitoring, recovery, stream-key security, and archive handling. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | You operate the encoder hardware and feed. | A computer may not be required for encoding, but the hardware and network connection must remain available. | Device setup, monitoring, recovery, stream-key security, and archive handling. |
| Cloud prerecorded-video streaming | A cloud service runs the uploaded video feed. | Not necessarily; requirements depend on the service. | Current service terms, recovery and monitoring arrangements, recurring cost, stream-key security, and control over the sequence. |
YouTube’s encoder help page names software and hardware encoders and lists Gyre for cloud-based 24/7 prerecorded-video streams. The listing does not establish comparative performance, current pricing, or suitability for your catalog. Choose based on who can monitor the stream, how it recovers from an interruption, and whether the archive matters as much as the live channel.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Rights, live rules, and archive planning
Your livestream must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms, and you must have the necessary rights for everything in it, including music where applicable. Review YouTube’s Terms of Service and YouTube’s copyright guidance before scheduling a catalog loop.
YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that one continuous stream longer than 12 hours will receive the same archive treatment. Check the current behavior in Studio and decide whether you need a continuing live channel, replay archives, or both. If you need replays, plan a suitable recording and archive workflow rather than relying on an unconfirmed long-stream archive.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Live streaming is unavailable | The channel is not verified, has a restriction, or first-time activation is still pending. | Check channel verification and livestream eligibility in YouTube Studio. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. |
| The encoder does not connect | The server URL or stream key was copied incorrectly, or the key is no longer the one assigned to the stream. | Compare the encoder fields with the current Live Control Room settings. Keep the key private; replace it if it may have been exposed. |
| The preview is missing or playback is poor | The encoder feed, source media, connection, or audio setup is not working as expected. | Check the preview in Live Control Room, inspect audio and video at the source, test playback on a mobile device, and monitor the watch page. Test failover if your setup includes it. |
| Product tags do not appear | The channel or content may not qualify, a product may not meet prominence or relevance requirements, or retailer and region availability may differ. | Review YouTube’s current live product-tagging rules, selected retailer availability, and viewer delivery-region coverage. Check whether claimed content, Made for Kids designation, or monetization eligibility affects the stream. |
| A long stream has no expected replay | The session may exceed the under-12-hour automatic archive guidance. | Check current Studio behavior and use a separate recording and archive plan if a replay is required. |
