You can create and order separate music and ambience playlists, but looping repeats one playlist, autoplay selects a related video, and the sleep timer pauses playback—it does not start the other playlist.
What YouTube’s playback controls can—and can’t—do
YouTube’s documented controls handle playlist order, repetition, related-video playback, timed pausing, and queues. None of the reviewed YouTube Help instructions establishes a clock-based handoff from one selected playlist to another.

Prepare separate music and ambience playlists
Create one playlist for music and another for ambience, then arrange the videos in each playlist in the order you want them to play. YouTube Music Help documents creating and editing playlists, including their title, description, privacy, and order: Make or edit a playlist — Computer.
- Create the music playlist. Add the tracks you want for the music portion of the night.
- Create the ambience playlist. Add your chosen ambience videos separately, rather than relying on autoplay to find them.
- Set the order. Edit each playlist’s order so its own videos play in the sequence you prefer.
- Choose privacy deliberately. Set each playlist’s visibility to suit whether you want it private, unlisted, or public.
These steps make the two playlists ready for playback, but they do not configure an overnight schedule between them.

Choose a playback method for the night
Repeat one playlist
Start either the music playlist or the ambience playlist, then turn on playlist looping if you want that same playlist to repeat continuously. YouTube’s loop instructions explain how to loop a playlist and how to set the control to repeat one video: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube — Android. The available device instructions include computer/mobile and TV or game console.
Use autoplay for related-video continuation
Autoplay is for continuing with a related video after the current one ends. YouTube Help defines it this way: “When Autoplay is on, another related video will automatically play after a video ends.” It is not a documented way to select your ambience playlist after your music playlist, or vice versa. Set a sleep timer to pause playback
If you want playback to stop after a chosen duration, set YouTube’s sleep timer. It pauses the current video when the timer expires; it does not hand playback to another playlist. The computer instructions are at Set a sleep timer — Computer.
Queue selected videos manually
A queue can put selected videos in a chosen sequence for a session, but it is not a clock-based playlist scheduler. YouTube documents queueing on desktop/web and notes that the browser queue is lost when the browser closes. Its mobile queue instructions require YouTube Premium. If you need music to switch to ambience at a set time
The official YouTube Help pages cited here explain playlists, looping, autoplay, the sleep timer, and queueing, but do not establish a native feature for scheduling a switch between two selected playlists. Do not depend on autoplay, looping, a queue, or the sleep timer to perform that handoff: their documented behavior is different.
For a simple overnight setup, choose one playlist and loop it, or manually start the other playlist when you are available to do so. If you use an external automation tool or another service, check its current documentation and permissions independently; the YouTube Help pages above do not verify a particular third-party option.
