Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIn OBS Studio, add the video as a Media Source, enable Loop, then send the scene to YouTube Live using the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. That makes OBS replay the file, but it does not guarantee a gapless boundary: check the picture and sound through a full repeat using your actual setup before relying on it.
What “loop” can—and cannot—guarantee
YouTube Live receives a feed from an encoder; the encoder handles playback of the prerecorded video. OBS’s Media Source offers a Loop property, which OBS Project describes as: “Specifies whether the file play again once playback has completed.” This repeats the file after playback ends, but OBS does not document that the transition is guaranteed to be seamless. A brief pause, black frame, or audio discontinuity therefore has to be checked in the actual media and playback path.
The OBS Media Source is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and supports common containers including MP4, TS, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WebM. See OBS Project’s Media Sources documentation.
Set up a looping video in OBS and YouTube Live
- Create or select the scene. In OBS, choose the scene you want viewers to see while the stream is live.
- Add the video. In the Sources panel, select + > Media Source. Choose the local video file in the source properties.
- Enable looping. Turn on Loop in the Media Source properties. Check Show nothing when playback ends as well: that option can hide the source at the end of playback. Confirm that Loop is enabled and that the expected source remains visible in the active scene.
- Check playback before going live. Watch the file reach its end and begin again in the OBS preview. Listen at the boundary as well as watching for a black frame or pause. Repeat the check with the scene and media file you intend to use.
- Get the YouTube ingest details. In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream and open its Live Control Room. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the encoder workflow.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. Enter the stream URL and stream key in OBS’s streaming settings, then start the stream when ready. Treat the stream key as a credential: YouTube uses it to identify the feed the encoder sends. YouTube recommends RTMPS for ingest. Follow the current YouTube encoder settings for the resolution and frame rate you plan to send, since appropriate encoding settings depend on that choice.
- Verify the viewer-facing result. Before making the stream public, test it as a private or unlisted stream and check the transition through YouTube playback. A clean OBS preview alone does not establish that the viewer-facing stream has no boundary issue.
For the current YouTube workflow and labels, consult YouTube’s live-stream settings. Interface labels and platform guidance can change.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If a black frame or pause appears at the boundary
There is no documented OBS checkbox or export setting here that guarantees a seamless restart. The cause of a particular black frame cannot be determined from the symptom alone, so isolate where it appears before changing settings.
- The OBS preview goes blank: Recheck that the correct Media Source is in the active scene, Loop is enabled, and Show nothing when playback ends is not hiding the source. Watch the source through the end of the file and into the restart.
- The OBS preview looks continuous, but YouTube playback does not: Test with a private or unlisted stream and inspect the viewer playback path. Use YouTube’s current encoder table for the intended resolution and frame rate; do not assume a particular codec, frame rate, or export change will fix every boundary.
- Picture repeats but audio breaks: Listen specifically across the restart. The Loop property repeats playback, but the documentation does not promise uninterrupted audio at the boundary.
- You are using HLS rather than RTMP: YouTube documents HLS requirements including TS segments, segment durations from 1–4 seconds, and a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments. YouTube also documents higher latency than continuous RTMP. These constraints are not a documented fix for a loop boundary. See YouTube’s HLS ingestion guidance.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a prerecorded video or playlist to keep running on YouTube without leaving a computer on at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. The stream runs from the cloud, supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month.
