To keep a hotel room tour live overnight, send the camera feed through a YouTube-compatible encoder, enter the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio, verify the Live Control Room preview, and test the whole setup before leaving it unattended. There is no special YouTube overnight mode or guarantee of uninterrupted streaming: power, network conditions, copyright matches, and equipment can all affect the broadcast. Keep a local recording, and plan for YouTube’s archive and DVR limits on streams longer than 12 hours.
Choose a streaming method
Encoder: more control for a fixed room view
An encoder-based setup sends video and audio to YouTube using a stream URL and key. It is a practical choice when you want to use a camera or computer-based video setup and configure stream settings such as auto-start and auto-stop. YouTube supports encoder streaming but does not rank encoder brands or promise that any setup will remain connected overnight. See YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance.
Webcam: simpler, but still requires a working setup
YouTube also supports streaming with a webcam. This may suit a simple, stationary room view if your computer and camera can remain powered and connected. A tripod or webcam is optional equipment, not a YouTube requirement; use gear you already have if it suits the shot.
Set up the stream in YouTube Studio

In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream. Choose the encoder workflow and find the stream URL and stream key in the stream settings. YouTube’s labels and layout can change, so follow the current live-stream setup flow in Studio.

Enter the stream URL and key in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on camera or share it publicly. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.

Configure auto-start or auto-stop in the stream settings if those controls suit your workflow. They can help manage when the stream begins or ends, but they do not make a disconnected encoder, camera, or network reconnect reliably.

Start sending the feed and check the preview in YouTube’s Live Control Room before making the stream public or leaving it running. Confirm that the intended stream is selected and the picture is framed as expected.

Run the exact camera, encoder, power, and network arrangement you intend to use overnight. YouTube advises creators to set up encoders ahead of time, check the preview, verify accessibility, check local archive growth, and monitor audio and video quality. Its guidance says to “Continuously monitor streams for audio and video quality.” That advice matters: a successful preview is a useful check, not proof that an unattended broadcast will stay uninterrupted.

Check that the camera, computer or encoder, and network connection are in their intended positions and operating before you leave them.

YouTube’s checklist is at YouTube live streaming tips. YouTube does not establish a dependable overnight duration, hotel Wi-Fi success rate, or equipment uptime figure, so do not treat a test as a guarantee.

Do not rely on YouTube as the only copy of a long room-tour stream. YouTube says it can automatically archive a live stream that is less than 12 hours; a stream that runs longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. Make sure the local recording is actually growing during your test and that the recording setup has enough available storage for the planned session.
The archive threshold is separate from the viewer’s ability to rewind. On streams longer than 12 hours, DVR may be limited or unavailable, even if a viewer wants to jump back during the live broadcast. Details: Archive live streams and Turn on DVR on live streams.

Check the room audio and content rights
Hotel room audio can capture a television, radio, or other background source. If the stream includes content you do not have rights to use, an unresolved third-party content match can interrupt or terminate the live stream. Before broadcasting, listen for background music and other copyrighted material; mute or remove sources you are not authorized to stream. YouTube’s guidance is available under Copyright issues with live streams and its Livestream terms and conditions.
