Yes—Apple currently offers up to three months of Apple Music free to some new subscribers who activate an eligible promotion, most commonly after setting up or pairing a qualifying new Apple device. The offer is not automatic for every Apple device, account, country, or Apple Music user. After setup, open the Apple Music app and look for the offer shown for your account.
Before accepting, check the confirmation screen for the trial’s end date and the price that will apply afterward. If you do not want a paid subscription, cancel at least 24 hours before renewal—but do not cancel immediately if the promotion says cancellation will end access to the remaining free period.
Which Apple devices may qualify?
Apple’s current promotional pages describe several possible routes, although availability depends on the country, device category, account history, and promotion active when you redeem it. Apple’s U.S. Apple Music page currently highlights a three-month offer for new subscribers with an eligible audio device and separately lists an offer connected with certain new-device purchases. Check Apple’s current Apple Music offer for the promotion displayed in your market.
Apple’s dedicated new-device offer page identifies these general categories:

- AirPods and other eligible audio devices
- Beats headphones or speakers
- New iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV
- Apple Watch paired with an iPhone
- Other qualifying Apple devices covered by the promotion
That does not mean every model or retail listing qualifies. A used, refurbished, previously activated, or otherwise ineligible device may not trigger the offer, and the same device category may be covered differently in another country.
How to claim the free trial
- Confirm that you are eligible. The offer is generally intended for new Apple Music subscribers. Existing subscribers, people who have recently used an Apple Music trial, or accounts that have already redeemed a promotional offer may not qualify.
- Update the associated device. If the promotion requires an iPhone or iPad for pairing, install the latest available iOS or iPadOS update before trying to redeem it.
- Set up or pair the device. Set up a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV. For AirPods, HomePod, Beats headphones, or speakers, connect or pair the device with an iPhone or iPad running the latest available software. Apple Watch offers generally require pairing the watch with an iPhone running the latest iOS.
- Open Apple Music. Launch the Apple Music app on an eligible Apple device after setup or pairing. Follow the on-screen instructions if the three-month offer appears.
- Review the confirmation screen. Check the trial duration, renewal date, and post-trial price before confirming. Apple’s paid introductory prices and standard subscription prices can change, so an old price quoted elsewhere should not be treated as current.
Apple’s dedicated offer instructions are available on its new-device Apple Music offer page. The page is regional, so the exact terms and availability may differ from what appears in the United States or another country.
Redeem it promptly
Apple promotional terms commonly require the offer to be claimed within 90 days of first setup or pairing. The precise deadline should be verified in the terms displayed with your individual offer. If Apple Music does not show the promotion, confirm that the device was newly set up or paired, that you are signed in to the intended Apple Account, and that your account has not previously used a qualifying trial.
Eligibility rules that are easy to miss
It is for eligible new subscribers, not every Apple Music user
Buying an Apple device does not guarantee three free months. Apple describes the offer as limited-time and intended for new Apple Music subscribers under the applicable promotion. Prior trial use, an existing subscription, account-specific restrictions, or regional differences can make an account ineligible.

One Apple Account may be limited to one offer
Apple’s published promotional terms state that an offer may be available per eligible device, but only one offer may be used per Apple Account, regardless of how many qualifying devices are purchased. In other words, buying several eligible devices should not be treated as a way to stack multiple free periods.

The offer cannot necessarily be combined with other Apple deals
The cited Apple promotional terms say that the offer cannot be combined with another Apple Music trial or offer and cannot be combined with Apple One. Read the terms attached to the offer on your account before accepting it, particularly if you already have an Apple One subscription or another Apple Music promotion.
Country and device category matter
Apple’s pages do not present one universal worldwide offer. The U.S. consumer page currently emphasizes an eligible-audio-device route, while other Apple regional pages describe broader categories such as a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, or Apple Watch. Use “eligible new Apple device” as the safe description and trust the offer actually displayed in Apple Music.
Should you buy a device just to get the trial?
Usually, no. Three months of music service is unlikely to justify buying a device you do not need. The offer makes more sense when you are already planning to purchase headphones or another Apple device and the offer appears after activation.
For readers already shopping for compatible audio hardware, new AirPods or eligible Beats headphones may be the most direct device-based route described by Apple. However, do not assume that every model, retailer listing, or open-box product will trigger the promotion. Confirm the exact model, condition, region, and account eligibility before buying for this purpose.
If you were already going to replace a phone, tablet, computer, streaming device, or watch, Apple’s new-device page also describes possible offers for an eligible new Apple device. Treat the free subscription as a bonus rather than the reason to make an expensive purchase.
Disclosure: Product availability and eligibility can change. A purchase does not guarantee an Apple Music promotion; Apple Account, country, device condition, model, and the live promotional terms control.
What happens when the free period ends?
Apple Music subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel them. The final confirmation screen should show the price that will apply after the promotion. Do not rely on a permanent monthly price copied from an older article or retailer page.

- Wireless Bluetooth streaming
- 12 hours of playtime
- IPX7 waterproof
- Pair multiple speakers with party boost
- Premium JBL sound quality
If you want to keep the service, no action is normally needed. If you do not want to be charged, Apple says to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Apple’s U.S. terms and Apple Support provide the same practical warning for free or discounted trials. See Apple’s U.S. media services terms for the relevant subscription conditions.
Important cancellation warning
Do not automatically cancel the moment you redeem the offer. Apple’s promotional terms state that cancelling during the free-offer period may immediately end Apple Music access and forfeit the rest of the free trial; the offer cannot then be reactivated. Set a calendar reminder for at least 24 hours before the renewal date, then cancel if you do not want to continue.
How to cancel before renewal
On an iPhone or iPad, the usual path is:
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions.
- Select Apple Music.
- Tap Cancel Free Trial or the applicable cancellation option and confirm.
Apple may change interface labels or display the subscription through a different account-management screen. The subscription page should show the renewal date and the available cancellation control. Cancel no later than 24 hours before that date if you want to avoid the next charge.
If the offer does not appear
- Check the Apple Account: Make sure Apple Music is open under the account you intended to use.
- Check prior subscription history: A previous Apple Music trial or promotion may disqualify the account.
- Finish setup or pairing: Simply owning the device may not be enough; complete the setup or connect the audio device as Apple instructs.
- Update iOS or iPadOS: Pairing-based promotions may require the latest available software.
- Check the deadline: The offer may have expired if more than the stated redemption window—often 90 days—has passed.
- Check your region: A promotion advertised on an Apple page for another country may not apply to your account.
- Read the on-screen terms: The account-specific offer is more authoritative than a retailer listing or an old promotional article.

Can I cancel Apple Music immediately after redeeming the offer?
You can cancel, but Apple’s promotional terms warn that cancellation during the free-offer period may immediately end access and forfeit the remaining trial. To preserve access, set a reminder and cancel at least 24 hours before renewal instead.
What if I already subscribe to Apple Music?
An existing or recently subscribed account is not guaranteed to qualify. The offer is generally for new subscribers, and it cannot necessarily be combined with another Apple Music trial, promotion, or Apple One.
Does every pair of AirPods or Beats headphones qualify?
No. Eligibility can depend on the exact model, whether the device is new, the country, the Apple Account, and the promotion active when you redeem it. Look for the offer in Apple Music after pairing rather than assuming a purchase guarantees it.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: You may be able to get up to three months of Apple Music free by setting up or pairing an eligible new Apple device, especially qualifying AirPods or Beats hardware. Open Apple Music after setup, redeem within the stated deadline, and verify the post-trial price. If you do not want to pay afterward, cancel at least 24 hours before renewal—but avoid cancelling during the free period if Apple warns that doing so ends access immediately.
