To find the fix, compare the original files, your playlist’s local output, and the audio in a recording of the YouTube stream. A pop already present in a source file calls for media repair; a pop that appears only as the playlist changes items points toward the transition or streaming path. A 4K/60 video setting is a separate stream-health check—not an established cause of audio pops.
First locate where the pop enters the audio chain
Listen to the same passage at three points: in each original file, in a local recording of the playlist output, and in the live playback or its archive. This separates a damaged edit from an artifact introduced while the playlist changes items or the stream is delivered. YouTube recommends testing with audio and motion representative of the intended stream and monitoring stream health; a clean local preview alone cannot confirm that viewers receive clean audio. YouTube Live encoder settings
- The pop is in an original file: repair or replace that source, then test it again before changing streaming settings.
- The files sound clean, but the local playlist recording pops: investigate the edit boundary and the player or playlist source.
- The local output is clean, but the live playback or archive pops: check the stream’s audio configuration and source behavior, then run another representative test.
- It happens only at some boundaries: compare the affected items with boundaries that play cleanly. Note changes in resolution, frame rate, audio channel layout, or codec.
Inspect the boundary between the two videos
Listen closely to the final moment of the outgoing clip and the first moment of the next one. In an audio editor, zoom in on the waveform around the boundary. A sudden cut or discontinuity is a useful lead to investigate, but the symptom alone does not establish its cause.
- Duplicate the playlist or make a test copy of the two files so you can compare against the original transition.
- Add a short fade-out and fade-in, or a short crossfade, at the boundary.
- Replay the same transition several times and compare it with the unmodified version.
If the fade masks the pop, inspect the cut and timing at that boundary. A fade can conceal a discontinuity; it does not prove what caused it, and it is not a universal fix.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check audio format and sample-rate consistency
Confirm that the encoder uses a supported audio codec and a stable audio configuration across the stream. YouTube lists AAC and MP3 as supported Live audio codecs. Its current encoder guidance recommends these audio settings: YouTube Live encoder settings
| Audio format | Sample rate | Audio bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| Stereo | 44.1 kHz recommended | 128 kbps |
| 5.1 surround | 48 kHz recommended | 384 kbps |
Different source formats or conversion behavior are reasonable things to test when a pop occurs at item changes, but YouTube’s guidance does not identify them as the cause of this particular symptom. Make one change at a time and compare the result.

Verify the 4K/60 video settings separately
Check that the video encoder is configured for the intended 2160p, 60 fps stream and that its output is healthy. YouTube’s current Live guidance gives these settings for 2160p at 60 fps: YouTube Live encoder settings
| Setting | YouTube guidance for 2160p at 60 fps |
|---|---|
| Video bitrate | 10–40 Mbps; 35 Mbps recommended |
| Rate control | CBR recommended |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds |
These are platform recommendations for stream configuration, not evidence that 4K resolution or video bitrate causes a click between playlist items. Treat video settings as a separate health check, especially if the pop coincides with broader stream-health or dropped-frame problems.

If you use OBS with a VLC playlist source
Record your OBS version and playlist-source configuration, then observe what changes at the affected item boundary. Check whether the next video switches resolution, frame rate, audio layout, or codec, and test the same pair repeatedly.
OBS Studio 29 release notes mention a crash fix involving a video source that frequently changed resolution, with a VLC playlist as an example. That note supports checking software version and source changes; it does not document a fix for audio popping. OBS Studio 29.0.0 release notes

Run a controlled stream test
- Use representative clips: include the affected boundary, similar audio and movement to the intended stream, and any source that changes format or resolution.
- Where appropriate, test privately or unlisted, and monitor YouTube’s stream health.
- Listen to the resulting live playback or archive, not only the local preview.
- Change one variable at a time—transition, audio-format consistency, then player or source configuration—and record which test changes the result.
This sequence helps avoid conflating a media edit, playlist behavior, and encoder configuration. If a test changes nothing, restore the prior setting before testing another variable.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your playlist is pre-recorded video for a 24/7 YouTube stream, StreamNeo runs the playlist from the cloud: upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. Uploaded files stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo does not repair a pop already in a source file, so check the media and transition using the steps above.
