You can edit any Disney+ profile, but you cannot delete the primary profile. To edit one, open Profile → Edit Profile, choose the profile, make your changes, and select Save. To remove a secondary profile, choose Delete Profile and confirm. Deletion is permanent and does not cancel your Disney+ subscription.
Quick answer
- Edit: Open Profile → Edit Profile, select a profile, change its settings, then choose Save.
- Delete: Open Profile → Edit Profile, select a secondary profile, choose Delete Profile, and confirm.
Disney+ says the primary profile cannot be deleted. Menu names and available settings can vary by country, profile age, account configuration, device, and app version. See Disney’s profile-management guidance.

How to edit a Disney+ profile
- Open Disney+ and select the current Profile icon.
- Select Edit Profile or Edit Profiles.
- Choose the profile you want to change.
- Adjust the available settings.
- Select Save.
Depending on your region and account, the edit screen may include:
- Profile name and avatar
- App language
- Autoplay and background video
- Content rating
- Profile PIN
- Junior Mode
- Kid-Proof Exit
Change the profile name
Go to Profile → Edit Profile → select the profile → Profile Name, enter the new name, and select Save. Disney’s current help information lists a maximum of 30 characters and says certain special characters are not accepted. If Disney+ rejects the name, shorten it and try simpler letters or numbers.

Change the avatar
Open the profile editor, select Avatar, choose one of the available Disney+ character icons, and save. The artwork available can change over time or vary by market.
Change the app language
Choose App Language in the profile editor, select a language, and save. This changes the language for that profile rather than necessarily changing the language of the device or every profile.
Change Disney+ parental controls
Disney describes parental-control management through a supported web browser or the mobile app. On those devices, open the profile list, choose Edit Profiles, select the profile, and look under Parental Controls.

Content rating
- Select Content rating.
- Enter the Disney+ account password.
- Choose the permitted rating.
- Select Save.
Disney says titles above the selected rating will not appear while browsing or searching on that profile. The setting does not necessarily prevent titles from appearing in Disney+ promotions.
Profile PIN
Choose Profile PIN under Parental Controls, enter the account password, and select Continue. You can then create, change, or remove the four-digit PIN and select Save. If you forget the PIN, choose Forgot your PIN? and verify the account with its password.
A profile PIN prevents someone from opening that profile. It is different from a content rating, which controls the maturity level of titles shown on the profile.

Junior Mode and Kid-Proof Exit
To enable Junior Mode, edit the profile and switch Junior Mode on. To turn it off, edit the Junior Mode profile, switch it off, enter the account password when prompted, and finish with Done or the equivalent button.

Kid-Proof Exit can be enabled from the same profile-editing screen. It adds an exit challenge before a child can leave Junior Mode. Disney’s instructions are available in its Kids Profiles help page.

How to delete a Disney+ profile
- Select the current Profile.
- Select Edit Profile.
- Choose the profile you want to remove.
- Select Delete Profile.
- Confirm the deletion.
Check the profile name and avatar carefully before confirming. Disney says profile deletion is permanent and the profile cannot be recovered.

The most likely reason is that you selected the primary profile. Disney creates this profile for the subscription holder and does not allow it to be deleted. You can edit it, but removing it requires a different solution, such as using another profile or closing the entire account.

- Confirm that you selected the intended profile and that it is not the primary profile.
- Try Disney+ in a web browser or the mobile app, particularly if you are using a TV app.
- Update or restart the Disney+ app.
- Sign out and sign back in.
- Contact Disney+ support if a secondary profile still cannot be removed.
TV interfaces may not expose every profile or parental-control option. Disney specifically directs users to supported browsers and the mobile app for several parental-control actions.
Deleting a profile does not cancel Disney+
Deleting a profile only removes that profile. It does not cancel billing, cancel the subscription, or delete the entire Disney+ account.
To stop charges, use the subscription-management process. If you subscribed through a third party, Disney says subscription management may need to be handled through that provider. Account closure is a separate process described in Disney’s account-management FAQ.
Should you delete or transfer the profile?

Profile Transfer may preserve a person’s watch history and settings when they move to a new subscription. It is permanent, requires approval from the account holder, and the approval request remains available for up to seven days. Primary profiles, profiles for viewers under 18, and Junior Mode profiles cannot be transferred. See Disney’s Profile Transfer information.
