You cannot currently download Netflix on a Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED, or Nintendo Switch 2. As of August 16, 2026, Netflix’s official supported-device list does not include either Switch generation, and no official Netflix app is available in the Nintendo eShop.
Can you get Netflix on Nintendo Switch?
No. Netflix lists supported smart TVs, streaming devices, phones, tablets, computers, PlayStation consoles and Xbox consoles, but not Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2. Check Netflix’s current device list at Netflix Help Center.
This applies to the original Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED and Switch 2. Nintendo’s Switch and Switch 2 compatibility information does not add Netflix support: Nintendo’s compatibility documentation.
How to check the Nintendo eShop
- Open Nintendo eShop on the console.
- Select the search function.
- Search for Netflix.
- Look for an official Netflix listing published by Netflix.
On a standard Switch or Switch 2, no official listing should appear. That is not usually an account, region or system-update problem. Do not repeatedly change your Nintendo Account region or create another account to find an app that is not supported.

Why common Netflix-on-Switch guides do not work
There is no normal Switch web browser for Netflix
The console can display limited browser-like pages for tasks such as captive-portal Wi-Fi sign-in, but it does not provide a general-purpose browser that serves as a supported Netflix player. Treat claims that a “Netflix browser app” can be downloaded from the eShop as unreliable.
APK, Android and homebrew methods are unofficial
Some projects attempt to run Android or another operating system on particular Switch hardware. This is console modification, not a normal installation procedure. It can involve hardware or firmware changes, bricking risk, loss of Nintendo-service access, security and privacy exposure, uncertain DRM support, poor resolution or controller compatibility, and possible warranty or terms violations. Patched and newer models may not support the same modifications as older units. There is no dependable, officially supported Netflix result to recommend.
DNS tricks and captive portals do not add Netflix
A DNS change or a captive-portal trick cannot create an official Netflix application or supply the device certification and DRM that Netflix requires.

A capture card works in the opposite direction
A capture card sends the Switch’s video output to another device. It does not send Netflix into the Switch and cannot turn the console into an HDMI receiver.

Phone casting does not make the Switch a receiver
You can watch Netflix on a compatible phone or tablet, or cast it to a supported television or streaming player. There is no standard, officially supported way to mirror Netflix playback onto the Switch screen.
Does Nintendo Switch Online unlock Netflix?
No. Nintendo Switch Online provides gaming-related services such as online play, cloud saves, the Nintendo Switch App, classic games and selected member benefits. It does not include Netflix or unlock unsupported streaming applications. Nintendo describes the membership features at Nintendo Support.

What about Hulu, YouTube and older Nintendo consoles?
Hulu is not evidence of Netflix support
Hulu was removed from the Nintendo eShop on November 6, 2025, and discontinued on Switch on February 5, 2026, according to Nintendo Support. The history of one streaming app says nothing about Netflix availability.
YouTube is a separate app
YouTube has had a Switch application, but that does not establish Netflix compatibility. Nintendo’s YouTube FAQ also says YouTube TV is not available through that app: Nintendo’s FAQ.

Wii U and 3DS support ended
Netflix was formerly available on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, but Nintendo says the app was removed on December 31, 2020 and discontinued on June 30, 2021. That older support does not carry over to Switch: Nintendo’s support article.

Can you download Netflix shows for offline viewing?
Netflix says downloads may be available on compatible Android phones and tablets, iPhone, iPad and Google Chromebook devices, depending on the plan and title. They are not available as a native Nintendo Switch feature. See Netflix’s download guidance.

Choosing a separate streaming device
- Already have a compatible TV? Use its built-in Netflix app before buying anything.
- Need the simplest TV upgrade? A Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV 4K or Google TV device connects directly to the television’s HDMI port. Compare interface, ecosystem, 4K support and price at the manufacturer’s site; prices change frequently.
- Already own a PlayStation or Xbox? Use that console rather than buying another device.
- Only need Netflix? Do not buy a new game console solely for streaming; a dedicated streaming device is usually the more proportionate solution.
