If you mean shows and films you watched, use Netflix’s Viewing activity controls in a web browser. Hiding a title removes it from the profile’s visible history, stops it informing recommendations unless watched again, and removes it from Continue Watching. Browser address-bar suggestions are separate and must be cleared in the browser or device.
What “Netflix history” can mean
Three different features are commonly confused:
- Search queries: words entered in Netflix’s search field. Netflix’s current public help pages do not document a page for reviewing or deleting these queries.
- Viewing activity: episodes and films watched on one Netflix profile. This is the history Netflix officially lets you hide.
- Continue Watching: partially watched titles displayed as a row. Removing a tile from this row is narrower than hiding it from Viewing activity.

How to hide one watched title
- Open Netflix in a web browser and sign in.
- Open Account.
- Under Profiles, select the profile whose activity you want to change.
- Open Viewing activity.
- On the Watching page, select the hide icon beside the episode or title.
- If Netflix offers to hide the entire series, choose that option only if you want every episode hidden.
Netflix says the hidden title no longer appears as watched, is excluded from recommendations unless watched again, and is removed from Continue Watching. The change can take up to 24 hours to reach every device.
How to clear all viewing activity for one profile
- In a web browser, go to Account → Profiles → select profile → Viewing activity.
- Scroll to the bottom.
- Select Hide all.
- Confirm.
Check the profile name first. Viewing activity is profile-specific, so Hide all affects only the selected profile, not the entire account. Repeat the process for another profile only with the account holder’s authorization. Netflix Kids profiles cannot hide titles from the Viewing activity page.

Remove only a title from Continue Watching
If you only want to remove a tile from the row, use Netflix’s device-specific control:

| Android, iPhone or iPad | Open the title menu and select Remove From Row. |
These controls are documented at Netflix’s Continue Watching help page. They do not substitute for hiding Viewing activity when your goal is to stop a title influencing recommendations.
Can you clear the full history in the Netflix app?
Netflix’s full-history instructions use a web browser and the Account page. The mobile and TV apps may expose only Continue Watching removal. If you cannot find Viewing activity or Hide all in an app, open Netflix in a browser instead. Update the app if the Continue Watching removal option itself is missing; Netflix says that feature requires the latest app version. Older versions may require the browser-based Viewing activity method.

What happens after you hide a title?
- It disappears from the profile’s visible watched activity.
- It is removed from Continue Watching.
- Netflix no longer uses it for recommendations unless the title is watched again.
- Other recommendation signals—such as other viewing, ratings and profile activity—can still shape the home page.
- Synchronization to all devices may take up to 24 hours.
Hiding activity is a user-facing profile change, not proof that every copy of information has been permanently erased from Netflix’s systems. Netflix separately explains that it may retain personal information where required or permitted by law and for stated legal or business purposes: deletion, removal and retention of information.

- Verify the profile: Open Account → Profiles → profile → Viewing activity and confirm you edited the profile that watched it.
- Use a browser for full history: Continue Watching removal alone does not hide Viewing activity.
- Allow up to 24 hours: Netflix explicitly warns that changes may take that long to propagate.
- Refresh the session: After the delay, sign out and back in on a device whose interface appears stale.
- Check whether it was watched again: Watching the title again makes it eligible for recommendations again.
If Hide all is missing, check that you are in a web browser and not viewing the account through a Kids profile.
Download a record before hiding anything
At the bottom of the Viewing activity page, select Download all to save the profile’s activity as a CSV file. This preserves a personal copy before you hide individual titles or use Hide all. Netflix history versus browser autocomplete
Clearing browser history or address-bar autocomplete will not remove titles from Netflix recommendations or Viewing activity. Conversely, hiding Netflix activity will not necessarily erase text stored locally in Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, Android or iOS suggestions. Those controls belong to the browser or device, not to the Netflix account.

Privacy between household members
Profiles have separate viewing activity and personalized recommendations. Use the correct profile, consider a profile-lock PIN where appropriate, and do not modify another person’s profile without permission. Netflix describes profiles and their personalized experiences in Getting started with Netflix.
Frequently asked questions
Does Netflix save search history?
Netflix’s current public help documentation does not provide a user-facing search-history list or deletion control. That does not establish that Netflix retains no search-related data; it means the documented control is Viewing activity.

Can I delete one episode without deleting the whole show?
Yes. Select the hide icon beside that episode. Netflix may also present an option to hide the entire series; choose it only when wanted.
Does hiding history reset recommendations?
It removes the hidden title from recommendation inputs unless watched again, but it is not a complete reset of all recommendations.
Can I clear full history from an iPhone or Android app?
Use a web browser for the documented full-history controls. The app may let you remove a title from Continue Watching only.

Does hiding history remove Continue Watching?
Yes, Netflix says hidden titles are removed from that row. A direct row-removal command is a narrower alternative.
Can other profiles see my viewing activity?
Profiles keep separate activity, but anyone who can access your profile can see its user-facing history unless you hide it or protect the profile.
Why is a title still visible after I hid it?
Confirm the profile, use the browser-based Viewing activity page, allow up to 24 hours for synchronization, and check whether the title was watched again.
