ESPN, ABC and other Disney-owned channels returned to YouTube TV after Google and Disney announced a multi-year distribution agreement on November 14, 2025. The blackout began on October 30 and lasted more than two weeks. The channels are restored, but the agreement’s separate ESPN Unlimited benefit has a later integration timetable: YouTube TV support documentation identified fall 2026 for direct in-app streaming for eligible subscribers.
Are ESPN and ABC back on YouTube TV?
Yes. Disney-owned programming began returning after the November 14, 2025 agreement, with restoration rolling out during that day. The dispute itself is no longer an active blackout for the service. The current question is whether a particular account has received every channel, recording and ESPN Unlimited feature.
The blackout started October 30, 2025, when the previous carriage agreement expired. It lasted more than two weeks and affected viewers during college-football season, news coverage and other live programming. The Associated Press reported on the resolution, while YouTube described the restoration in its announcement.
ABC remains market-dependent. A restored national ABC relationship does not guarantee that every subscriber receives a local ABC affiliate; station carriage depends on the subscriber’s ZIP code, home area and local rights.

Why did YouTube TV and Disney go dark?
The companies gave competing accounts of the failed renewal negotiations. YouTube TV said Disney was seeking costly terms that could push up customer prices and argued that Disney’s own live-TV products, including Hulu + Live TV and Fubo, would benefit from a blackout. Disney said Google was refusing to pay fair market rates for its networks. Those are the parties’ positions, not independently established findings. You can read YouTube’s explanation and Disney’s explanation.
The dispute illustrates the pressure in live television: programmers want higher fees and stronger distribution for direct-to-consumer products, while aggregators want to control bundle costs and retain subscribers. The final agreement resolved access without publicly disclosing its exact financial terms or precise duration beyond “multi-year.”
Which Disney channels returned?
Disney said the agreement covered its full linear portfolio. The principal returning categories include:

Library recordings
YouTube said programs recorded before the blackout were expected to return to subscribers’ Libraries along with the channels. That was the company’s restoration policy, not a guarantee that every account would update immediately or identically. Search the Library by program title and network if a recording is not visible in the Live guide.
The temporary credit
YouTube TV offered eligible subscribers a $20 credit while Disney-owned content was unavailable. It was compensation for the interruption, not a permanent reduction in the monthly subscription price. The application depended on billing arrangements: notices indicated that customers billed through Google Play or a third-party provider could receive the credit automatically, while other accounts might require account-specific instructions. See the YouTube TV support update and credit-application guidance. Redemption windows and account treatment can change, so use the instructions shown in the account or current support pages.

What is ESPN Unlimited, and what does the agreement provide?
ESPN Unlimited is ESPN’s broader direct-to-consumer service. ESPN’s partner documentation describes access to ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNNEWS, ESPN Deportes, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN+, ESPN on ABC and related digital services.
The agreement intends to make ESPN Unlimited available at no additional cost to eligible YouTube TV subscribers. That benefit is separate from the restored linear ESPN channels. It also does not turn ESPN Unlimited into a replacement for a local ABC station, CBS, NBC, Fox or every general-entertainment channel.
As of August 18, 2026, Google’s YouTube TV help documentation said eligible customers were expected to stream ESPN Unlimited content directly in the YouTube TV app beginning in fall 2026. Treat that as a rollout timetable, not proof that full in-app integration is already active on every account. Account linking, plan eligibility, device support and U.S. market availability may affect access.

What to do if ESPN or ABC is still missing
- Open the YouTube TV Live tab and search for ESPN, ABC, FX or the affected network.
- Confirm that the subscription is active and paid.
- Refresh the app, sign out and back in, and install available app or device updates.
- Check the account’s home-area and playback-location settings.
- For ABC, verify that the local affiliate is carried in the subscriber’s ZIP code; a missing affiliate can be a local-market issue rather than a new Disney-wide blackout.
- Check for a local-rights or program-specific restriction.
- Contact YouTube TV support if the account still displays a blackout notice.
If recordings are missing, check the Library, search by title, allow for metadata delays and confirm that you are using the account that made the recording. Do not delete and recreate recordings until support confirms whether the original Library data can be restored.
If ESPN Unlimited is unavailable, confirm that the plan includes ESPN, look for an account-linking option in YouTube TV and use ESPN’s supported partner-login route where offered. Access to a linear ESPN channel does not automatically mean that every Unlimited feature has launched for that account.

The restored channels remove the immediate reason many subscribers considered leaving, but the best service depends on local coverage, sports needs and the value of bundled entertainment.

| Service | Best fit | Important limitations | Price or feature signal |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube TV | Broad live TV, local broadcasts, unlimited DVR and multiview | Local ABC varies by market; ESPN Unlimited access depends on eligibility and rollout | YouTube says the service supports up to six accounts and three simultaneous devices. Its published Sports Plan signal was $64.99/month, with a $54.99/month introductory price for new users at the time announced; check current checkout pricing. |
| Hulu + Live TV | Households wanting Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN in one ecosystem | May not suit users who prefer YouTube TV’s interface, multiview or DVR workflow | Hulu’s page displayed $89.99/month with ads, including Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN, when checked; pricing is volatile. |
| ESPN direct | Sports-focused viewers who do not need a full live-TV bundle | Not a substitute for local ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or broad entertainment | ESPN’s partner page lists the Unlimited network and service access; the cited official material did not establish a complete current standalone price. |
| Sling TV | Viewers seeking modular packages and a potentially lower entry cost | Local channels and ESPN coverage depend on Orange, Blue and add-ons | Official plans are at Sling; prices and lineups change. |
| Fubo | Sports-heavy households comparing live-TV alternatives | Disney channels, local stations and regional sports vary by plan and market | Check the current lineup at Fubo. |
| DIRECTV STREAM | Viewers wanting broad tiers and local or sports availability | Usually a higher-cost option; channel access varies | Verify current packages at DIRECTV STREAM. |
Before changing services, check the exact local ABC affiliate, ESPN networks, regional sports rights, DVR rules, simultaneous-stream limits and total monthly price for your ZIP code. A sports-only ESPN subscription can be cheaper than a full bundle, but it cannot replace local news or general broadcast television.
What the agreement means for live TV
The settlement is more than a technical restoration. It combines continued carriage of Disney’s linear networks with a push toward direct-to-consumer sports access, possible Disney+, Hulu and related bundles through selected YouTube offerings, and greater flexibility for YouTube TV to develop genre-specific plans. Those changes reflect a market where programmers want direct subscriber relationships while distributors try to keep bundles affordable and valuable.
A multi-year agreement reduces the immediate risk of another Disney blackout, but it does not promise no future price increase or guarantee that negotiations elsewhere will be uneventful. Consumers should expect more overlap between traditional channel bundles and standalone sports services.
