Netflix’s official listing identifies FUBAR as a two-season action series created by Nick Santora and led by Schwarzenegger, Barbaro, and Milan Carter.

Main cast and characters

Arnold Schwarzenegger as Luke Brunner

Luke Brunner is a veteran CIA operative who had been nearing retirement before another dangerous mission pulled him back into the field. He is experienced, forceful, and intimidating, but his most important motivation is protecting his family—especially his daughter, Emma.

Luke’s professional competence does not make family disagreements disappear. His relationship with Emma remains the show’s main source of conflict and comedy: both are trained agents, yet each believes the other is making the wrong decision when missions become personal. Season 2 also places Luke between his renewed relationship with Tally and his unresolved romantic history with Greta.

  • Family: Emma’s father and Tally’s former husband.
  • Relationships: Renewed partner of Tally; former lover of Greta.
  • Team: Senior operative to Barry, Roo, Aldon, and the wider CIA group; longtime colleague and friend of Dot.

Monica Barbaro as Emma Brunner

Emma Brunner is Luke’s adult daughter and a CIA operative in her own right. The father-daughter spy partnership is the defining idea of FUBAR: Luke and Emma are both capable field agents, but their family history makes even ordinary professional disagreements volatile.

In season 2, Emma is dealing with her past relationship with civilian Carter while also attracting the immediate and rather complicated romantic attention of Chips. Her story continues to balance operational skill with the difficulty of having Luke as both a parent and a colleague.

  • Family: Luke’s daughter and Tally’s daughter.
  • Relationships: Carter’s former girlfriend; the focus of Chips’s romantic interest.
  • Team: Member of the CIA group working with Luke and the other operatives.

Carrie-Anne Moss as Greta Nelso

Greta Nelso is season 2’s major new character. A former East German spy, Greta faked her death in 1989 and has a romantic history with Luke. She is an accomplished opponent who repeatedly outmaneuvers the CIA while advancing a plan to destabilize the United States by attacking the power grid.

Greta is more than a conventional external threat. Her past with Luke makes every confrontation emotionally charged, particularly while Luke is trying to rebuild his relationship with Tally. She is connected to the shadowy Dante Cress and serves as a superior or employer to Chips during part of the season.

  • Past: Former East German spy who faked her death.
  • Connection to Luke: Former lover.
  • Season 2 role: Adversary of Luke and Emma’s CIA team, linked to the power-grid plot and Dante Cress.

Guy Burnet as Theodore “Theo” Chips

Theodore “Theo” Chips is a former MI6 agent who became a mercenary working for Greta. He enters the story as a captive of Luke’s team and appears to be seeking redemption. His attraction to Emma is part of his stated reason for wanting to move toward the “good guys,” but the show deliberately keeps his supposed change of allegiance uncertain.

That uncertainty makes Chips one of season 2’s main suspense engines. He can be useful to the team because of his intelligence background and field experience, but the question is whether he is genuinely helping or simply positioning himself for another betrayal.

Spoiler: The finale reveals that Chips is actually Dante Cress, the hidden architect of the power-grid and global-chaos plot. The revelation recontextualizes his apparent redemption and his connection to Greta.

Returning CIA team and supporting characters

Milan Carter as Barry Putt

Barry Putt is the team’s technology and intelligence specialist. He decodes and analyzes critical information and is one of Luke’s longtime colleagues. Barry is characterized as a proud nerd and lovable man-child, but season 2 gives him a more difficult personal storyline through his relationship with Tina.

Fortune Feimster as Roo Russell

Roo Russell is a smart, sarcastic, and fiercely loyal CIA officer who is ready to act when a mission turns dangerous. Her season 2 arc includes considering a promotion to regional director, adding professional ambition to her role within the ensemble.

Travis Van Winkle as Aldon Reece

Aldon Reece is a highly capable CIA officer and one of Luke’s wisecracking teammates. Season 2 exposes more of his vulnerable side, including his feelings for Emma and his attachment to Hamsteak, the pig he treats as a genuine companion rather than a disposable gag.

Jay Baruchel as Carter Perlmutter

Carter Perlmutter is Emma’s former boyfriend and a civilian caught up in the danger surrounding the CIA group. He is earnest and well-meaning, but his lack of professional training leaves him frequently out of his depth among agents, spies, and covert operations.

Aparna Brielle as Tina Mukerji

Tina Mukerji is an NSA analyst who has become a double agent. Once her espionage activities are exposed, her loyalties become a major source of distrust and betrayal within the broader intelligence storyline. Her situation also affects Barry personally.

Andy Buckley as Donnie

Donnie is Tally’s former boyfriend. He is forced into witness protection and must live in a safe house with Tally and her family. The bizarre domestic arrangement gives the season much of its situational comedy, especially as ordinary relationship tensions collide with CIA security procedures.

Fabiana Udenio as Tally Brunner

Tally Brunner is Emma’s mother and Luke’s former wife. Season 2 presents Luke and Tally as a renewed romantic pairing while Tally adjusts to witness protection and the danger that comes with being connected to the CIA.

Her relationship with Luke is tested by Greta’s return. Tally is not simply dealing with an old romantic rival; she is also confronting Luke’s history and the possibility that the past could affect their family’s safety.

Scott Thompson as Dr. Louis Pfeffer

Dr. Louis Pfeffer is the CIA team’s resident psychiatrist, assigned to support the operatives living in the safe house. His role combines comic ensemble energy with a practical function: he gives the characters a way to address stress, behavior, and the emotional cost of espionage.

By the finale, Pfeffer also becomes part of a deception intended to protect Luke and Tally’s relationship. He helps them maintain the appearance of marital conflict so Greta will believe she still has a chance with Luke.

Barbara Eve Harris as Dot Okoye

Dot Okoye is the commanding regional CIA director and Luke’s longtime trusted friend. She represents institutional authority above the field team and helps connect the operatives’ missions to the larger agency structure.

Gabriel Luna as Boro

Gabriel Luna is listed among the series cast, and season 2 cast-and-crew listings identify his character as Boro. He is part of the season’s additional credited cast beyond the central Brunner family and returning ensemble.

Key relationships in season 2

Relationship Why it matters
Luke and Emma The emotional and comic center of the series. They are both trained CIA agents, but their father-daughter disagreements repeatedly complicate missions.
Luke, Tally, and Greta Luke’s renewed relationship with Tally is threatened by Greta’s return and the history between Luke and his former lover.
Greta and Chips Greta initially appears to be the main antagonist while Chips appears to be a compromised captive who might be redeemed. The finale reverses that apparent alignment.
Emma and Chips Chips’s immediate attraction to Emma makes his supposed conversion more emotionally complicated—and more suspicious.
Aldon and Hamsteak Aldon’s bond with the pig reveals a sentimental side beneath his jokes and becomes a storyline about care, sacrifice, and unconditional attachment.

Spoiler explanation: who is the real villain?

Major finale spoilers follow.

Season 2 initially frames Greta as the principal threat. She is a former spy with a personal connection to Luke, she is working against the CIA, and her operation targets the American power grid. Chips, by contrast, is introduced as a dangerous but potentially useful captive whose attraction to Emma appears to encourage him to change sides.

The finale overturns that reading: Chips is Dante Cress, the mastermind behind the power-grid and global-chaos plan. Greta is therefore a more complicated figure than the season’s early episodes suggest. Although she is an adversary and has helped advance the plot, she ultimately helps stop the attack.

The personal storyline receives its own deception. Luke and Tally’s apparent marital problems are staged so Greta will think she still has an opportunity with Luke. Once the plan works, Luke proposes to Tally again. The resolution preserves the show’s preference for combining spycraft with family and relationship comedy rather than separating the two.

Where to watch FUBAR season 2

FUBAR season 2 premiered on June 12, 2025, and has eight episodes. Netflix currently lists the series as having two seasons and streaming on Netflix, so season 2 is a completed, available season rather than an upcoming release. Availability and catalog presentation can vary by country, so check the official Netflix title page for your region.

There is no basis in the supplied official listings for claiming that Netflix has released an official DVD or Blu-ray edition of season 2. The season should be treated as a streaming release unless an official physical release is announced separately.

Is there going to be a FUBAR season 3?

Netflix lists two released seasons. Trade reporting published in August 2025 reported that Netflix canceled FUBAR after two seasons. Because that cancellation status comes from trade reporting rather than a cancellation announcement on Netflix’s public title page, it is best stated as reported, not as a direct Netflix announcement. No season 3 should currently be presented as confirmed or in production.
