Guy Ritchie’s movies range from fast-cut London crime comedies to studio fantasy, spy adventures, and war thrillers. This ranking covers his released feature films through In the Grey (2026), using Rotten Tomatoes’ critic order as a starting point and making the final placements editorial rather than definitive.
How this ranking works
Rotten Tomatoes’ editorial guide, updated June 10, 2025, ranked 16 films by Tomatometer. This list reverses that order into a worst-to-best ranking and adds In the Grey, released May 15, 2026. Its position reflects the available critic reception, not a placement in the earlier guide. The scores below are snapshots and can change.
The Tomatometer measures the share of critics whose reviews are classified as positive; it is not a universal quality score. Audience response can look quite different: Rotten Tomatoes’ current profile lists Aladdin at 57% from critics and 94% from audiences, and In the Grey at 53% and 82%, respectively. Genre preference matters too: a viewer looking for the early London crime-comedy style may rank these films differently from someone who prefers large-scale action or adventure.

Swept Away (2002)
Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer: 6%. The lowest-rated film in the June 2025 guide, this remake drew criticism for muddled handling and for losing the political context of the original. Rotten Tomatoes’ current profile lists a 28% audience score as well.

-
Revolver (2005)
Tomatometer: 13%. The film mixes elements of Ritchie’s earlier crime style with philosophical material, but critics found the combination incoherent. It is a conspicuous detour from the cleaner, more straightforward pleasures of his best-known gangster films.
-
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
Tomatometer: 31%. This action-heavy modernization of the Arthurian story has scale and energy, but the critical response was that its approach diminished the classic material rather than giving it a persuasive new shape.
-
Fountain of Youth (2025)
Tomatometer: 35%; Metascore: 41. Rotten Tomatoes’ consensus found the adventure story derivative and uninspired. The lower critical reception places it among Ritchie’s least successful studio-era outings.
-
In the Grey (2026)
Rotten Tomatoes: 53% critics, 82% audience; Metascore: 53. Released May 15, 2026, this caper was not part of Rotten Tomatoes’ 2025 ranking. The site’s current consensus describes it as underpowered, with familiar ideas. The comparatively stronger audience score suggests it may play better for some viewers than its middling critical reception implies.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre (2023)
Tomatometer: 52%. The guide’s consensus allows for undemanding thrills but finds the spy-action comedy short of the genre’s strongest examples. It is a light option for viewers who want a breezy caper more than a tightly distinctive story.
-
Aladdin (2019)
Tomatometer: 57%. Ritchie brings polish and spectacle to Disney’s live-action adaptation, but critics generally found it less compelling than the animated original. Its 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes’ current profile points to a much warmer audience response.
-
RocknRolla (2008)
Tomatometer: 60%. A return to London gangsters after two poorly received films, it was seen as a step back toward the crime-comedy territory that first made Ritchie’s name. Its placement reflects a qualified recovery rather than a return to the heights of his early work.
-
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011)
Tomatometer: 60%. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law remain the sequel’s chief assets, but critics felt it struggled to recreate the first film’s thrills. It is an enjoyable fit for viewers who want more of that Holmes-and-Watson partnership, even if the follow-up is less consistently engaging.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024)
Tomatometer: 68%. Rotten Tomatoes characterizes this wartime action film as high-octane spectacle with limited suspense. Its appeal is primarily in the brisk, outsized action rather than tension or historical drama.
-
Wrath of Man (2021)
Tomatometer: 68%. The consensus praises the action ride while noting a thin plot. It is a more severe, stripped-down choice than Ritchie’s quip-heavy crime films, with the action carrying more weight than narrative complexity.
-
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
Tomatometer: 68%. Charismatic performances and stylish set pieces help this spy adventure, though critics found its story unremarkable. It sits between Ritchie’s crime-comedy roots and his more expansive studio filmmaking.
-
Sherlock Holmes (2009)
Tomatometer: 69%. Robert Downey Jr.’s performance is a major strength of this action-forward take on the detective. It reimagines Holmes as a kinetic blockbuster lead rather than leaning solely on a traditional mystery structure.

Snatch (2000)
Tomatometer: 74%. Snappy dialogue, dark comedy, and a crowded cast of memorable characters make this one of Ritchie’s defining crime films. The familiar criticism is that style can sometimes outrun substance, but the film’s brisk, interlocking energy remains a clear draw.
-
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
Tomatometer: 75%; audience score: 93%. Ritchie’s debut feature established his grimy, twisted, funny take on London crime. Its ensemble plotting and tangled schemes laid out a distinctive formula that Snatch would refine.
-
The Gentlemen (2019)
Tomatometer: 75%. This return to brash gangland comedy is most likely to click for viewers who already enjoy Ritchie’s rapid-fire style. The consensus is favorable but explicitly style-dependent, making it a stronger recommendation for existing fans than for newcomers.
-

- For a big, mainstream adventure: try Aladdin, whose audience score is substantially higher than its critic score.
- For Holmes with blockbuster action: begin with Sherlock Holmes before its sequel.
