Spoilers for the ending of Tron: Ares follow.
Yes. Tron: Ares has one mid-credits scene, so stay when the credits begin. The scene is reported during the credits—not after they have completely finished. It follows Julian Dillinger into a ruined Grid, where he activates an identity disc and begins forming a suit with a silhouette reminiscent of Sark, the antagonist from the original Tron. The moment hints at a possible continuation, but it does not confirm that Tron 4 has been approved.
What happens in the Tron: Ares mid-credits scene?
After the credits begin, Julian Dillinger escapes into Dillinger Corp.’s Grid. The digital world is in ruins. Julian finds an identity disc and activates it; as his suit begins to form, its silhouette recalls Sark. The Los Angeles Times’ account of the scene describes the resemblance, and director Joachim Rønning later made the callback explicit in an interview.
Rønning said the film was “bringing back Sark” and described the scene as “just like hinting [at] something to come” in a GamesRadar+ interview published October 10, 2025.
Does the scene mean Julian is Sark?
No such identity is established on screen. The scene shows Julian activating a disc and taking on a Sark-like appearance; it does not show that he literally becomes Sark, that Sark has been resurrected, or what Julian will do next. The image leaves open the possibility that Julian could carry forward a Sark-like threat in the Grid.

How does the ending set up a possible sequel?
The ending leaves several character threads available for a continuation. Ares is alive and traveling in the real world, while Eve has changed ENCOM’s direction and receives postcards from him. The mid-credits scene, meanwhile, points toward Julian and the damaged Grid as another possible source of conflict. These are unresolved story possibilities, not a confirmed outline for another film.
Rønning called Julian “a good starting point for that continuation of that character” in the GamesRadar+ interview. That is a creative hint, not confirmation that a sequel is in development.

Is Tron 4 confirmed?
No. The available interviews describe a possible continuation conditionally. Rønning said, “In this day and age, you never know where you will end up. And if we were to be that lucky, if enough people come watch it…” In a separate TechRadar interview published October 13, 2025, he said it “always depends on how many people want to see it.” TechRadar reported at the time that no sequel had been confirmed.
Those comments support calling a fourth film unconfirmed, not announced or greenlit. Sequel status can change; the interviews cited here do not establish whether Disney has made a later announcement.
