The series is set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ ascension. It follows two Harkonnen sisters confronting forces that threaten humanity and helping establish the sect that becomes the Bene Gesserit. The official series description identifies Sisterhood of Dune, by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, as its inspiration. That makes the novel useful background reading, but the stated relationship is “inspired by,” not a claim that the series directly adapts the book. HBO Max Latin America’s series description provides the premise and literary connection.
How many episodes are in season one?
HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery announced a six-episode first season in 2024. The announcement establishes the planned season length; it does not by itself describe any later seasons. The HBO press release is the source for the episode count.
