No—not if a cloud-hosted service is running the broadcast. Once the video is uploaded and the stream has started, StreamNeo says it runs the stream in the cloud, so you can close the browser or turn off your computer. If your own computer is the encoder sending video to YouTube, it must stay on and connected.
Why the answer depends on how you stream
YouTube supports several ways to go live, including streaming through an encoder. In a local setup, your computer reads or plays the video, encodes it, and sends it to YouTube. That computer and its internet connection remain part of the live broadcast path, so shutting it down stops its contribution to the stream. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance describes encoder streaming as one available method.
A cloud-hosted service changes where the ongoing work happens. You use your computer to upload the recording, configure the stream, connect the YouTube channel with a stream key, and start the broadcast. The cloud service then runs the uploaded video; your personal computer does not have to remain the encoder.
What to check before turning off your computer
- Finish the upload. Keep your computer and internet connection available until the video has uploaded and the service confirms it is ready.
- Start the stream. Confirm the service reports that the broadcast has begun; completing setup alone does not mean the stream is live.
- Verify playback on YouTube. Open the public watch page and check that the video is playing. Also check the service dashboard for its stream status.
- Then shut down or disconnect. With the cloud stream running, you can close the browser or turn off the computer. You may still need a device and internet access later to monitor the broadcast or make changes.
These checks matter because a successful upload and a started stream are separate stages. Do not power down before the service says the stream is running and you have confirmed YouTube playback.

What cloud hosting does—and does not—change
Your computer and home connection
Cloud hosting moves the continuous streaming task off your computer. It does not eliminate the internet connection needed to upload the video or access the service for setup and management. With a local encoder, by contrast, the computer, its power, and its network connection remain necessary while it sends the feed.
YouTube eligibility and rules
A cloud service does not bypass YouTube’s channel requirements. YouTube says a channel must be verified and must have had no live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days to live stream. Check YouTube’s current live-streaming requirements before starting; platform rules apply regardless of where the stream is encoded.

Recovery is not an uptime guarantee
StreamNeo says it monitors its stream and attempts to reconnect if YouTube drops the connection. That is a service feature, not proof that a stream can never be interrupted: the product information does not establish an independent uptime measurement or guarantee.

If you use an encoder on your own computer, leave that computer powered on, keep the encoder software running, and maintain a reliable internet connection for the duration of the stream. If your goal is for a pre-recorded video or playlist to keep broadcasting while your computer is off, a cloud-hosted service is the relevant alternative.
