Season 2 and The Punisher: One Last Kill have since been released, clarifying where those storylines went.
What happens at the end of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1?
The ninth and final episode, “Straight to Hell,” closes with Fisk’s anti-vigilante task force putting Matt and Frank in danger. Frank helps Matt escape the assault on Matt’s apartment. In the mid-credits scene, Frank is shown imprisoned with other opponents in Fisk’s Red Hook holding area.

Frank manipulates a guard into reaching his cell, creating an immediate opportunity to escape. The scene is a cliffhanger: it shows Frank positioned to act, but does not establish precisely how he gets out or what he does afterward.
What does the finale leave unresolved?
Matt’s resistance to Fisk
Fisk uses his political office and the Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) to suppress opposition. Matt’s response is to begin building a network of allies and resist from the shadows. The finale establishes the conflict, not its outcome: it leaves open how far Matt’s resistance will reach and whether it can weaken Fisk’s hold on New York.

Frank, Bullseye, Heather and Foggy
Frank’s immediate escape remains uncertain, as do the future choices and status of Bullseye, Heather and Foggy. The episode leaves those threads unsettled rather than resolving them in its closing scenes.
What did Season 1 set up for Season 2?
The finale points toward a contest between Fisk’s expanding power and Matt’s effort to resist it. Marvel’s later official preview confirmed that Season 2 begins with Fisk hunting Daredevil while Matt works to dismantle Fisk’s corrupt empire. Season 2 premiered on March 24, 2026.

Charlie Cox also described a change to Matt’s suit in the new season: Matt spray-paints his red Season 1 suit black to be less noticeable and remain stealthier. Cox said the change connects to the season’s story, rather than being only a visual alteration. The Punisher: One Last Kill premiered May 12, 2026, exclusively on Disney+.
