She was 27 when her death was reported in June 2021. Her career and the reports about her death are best understood by separating documented public information from details that remain unverified.
Who was Dakota Skye?
Skye worked under the professional name Dakota Skye. XBIZ reported that she entered the adult-film industry in 2013 and worked with multiple studios. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution identified her as Lauren Kaye Scott and reported that she appeared in more than 300 adult videos between 2013 and 2019. That figure is the newspaper’s reported count; it has not been independently confirmed against a complete filmography.
What work was she known for?
XBIZ’s June 2021 career summary named Girlsway, Girlfriends Films, Brazzers, Hustler Video, Digital Playground, Evil Angel, Burning Angel, Jules Jordan Video, Reality Kings, Bang, Kink.com, Mile High and Naughty America among the studios associated with her work. This is a trade-publication list, not an exhaustive catalog of her appearances. The AJC’s reported total likewise should not be treated as a verified complete tally.
What happened to Dakota Skye?
XBIZ reported on June 10, 2021, that Skye had died at 27, citing confirmation from her aunt; the report said she died on June 9. The XBIZ report quoted her aunt as writing: “This is truly a tragedy. If you are suffering from addiction, I beg you to get help!” That was a family member’s appeal, not a medical finding about Skye.

When the Atlanta Journal-Constitution updated its report on June 14, 2021, it said the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner had not yet determined a cause of death. That was the status reported at the time, not necessarily the final determination.
What has been reported about the cause of death?
A later Hollywood LA News page reproduces case details and reports acute multidrug intoxication as the cause of death. The underlying official case report was not independently reviewed here, so this should be understood as a secondary account rather than a direct review of the county finding. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner explains that its online services can provide case information, including the final cause and manner of death; that service information does not itself verify the specific details reported about Skye.
