Many celebrities, musicians, actors, athletes and internet creators use Snapchat, but usernames and activity change frequently. Snapchat does not publish one complete celebrity directory. The reliable approach is to find a person’s current Public Profile in the app, check for Snapchat’s Snap Star label, and confirm the account through a current first-party link whenever possible.
Important: the examples below are leads checked on the dates shown, not permanent proof that an account is still active. Recheck every profile in Snapchat before following.
Quick answer
- Search a celebrity’s name in Snapchat and open the matching Public Profile.
- Look for the Snap Star label. Snapchat uses it for public figures and creators it has verified.
- A Snapchat+ badge is a paid-service indicator, not identity verification.
- Following a Public Profile is not the same as becoming friends, paying for a creator subscription, or receiving personal contact.
- Old lists—especially early-Snapchat lists from 2016—can contain renamed, abandoned or reassigned usernames.
Snap describes Public Profiles as discoverable pages that can showcase Stories, Lenses and audience information: Snapchat Public Profile help.
Celebrities to check first
These handles were reported by a third-party account tracker on the dates shown. Use them as search leads, then verify the live profile, label and content in Snapchat. A matching name alone does not establish that an account is official.

How to find a celebrity on Snapchat
- Open Snapchat on iOS or Android and tap the search field.
- Search the person’s display name, then try likely usernames.
- Open the matching Public Profile rather than a fan video, hashtag result or repost account.
- Compare the profile photo, biography, linked websites and other social handles with the celebrity’s official channels.
- Look for the Snap Star label and inspect Stories, saved Stories, Spotlight posts and Lenses.
- Use Subscribe, Follow or Add only after the identity checks. Labels and button placement can vary by account type, app version, age and country.

What the Snap Star label means
A Snap Star is a public figure or creator verified by Snapchat. Snap says its review can consider authenticity, notability or cultural relevance, engagement, public Stories, content quality and compliance with its rules—not follower count alone. Snapchat also says it does not charge for Snap Star verification and that no third party can guarantee it: Snap Star guidance.
| Label | Meaning | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Snap Star | Snapchat has verified the public figure or creator relationship. | That the celebrity personally makes or reads every post; teams, agencies and brands may manage the account. |
| Snapchat+ badge | The account holder subscribes to Snapchat+ or has enabled a related feature. | Identity, celebrity status, endorsement or authenticity. Snapchat explicitly says it is not identity verification: account-label guidance. |
A real celebrity may lack a Snap Star label, so absence is a reason to seek stronger first-party confirmation—not automatic proof of a fake.

What celebrities post
Public Profiles can contain temporary Stories, saved Stories, public Spotlight videos and augmented-reality Lenses. Snap’s developer documentation describes these formats here: Public Profile content types.
- Behind-the-scenes footage from tours, sets, rehearsals and events
- Casual, personal-style daily Snaps
- Beauty, fashion and product launches
- Promotional or sponsored Stories managed by a label, agency or brand
- Short interviews, event coverage and Spotlight clips
- Subscriber-only Stories or direct Snaps where creator subscriptions are enabled
A personal-feeling post is not evidence that the celebrity personally uploaded it. Public content can be scheduled, edited or moderated by a team.

You may be able to reply to a Public Story or interact with public content, but a celebrity may never see the message. High-volume replies can be filtered, moderated or handled by a team. How to avoid fake celebrity accounts
- Check for the Snap Star label, but do not treat a Snapchat+ badge as verification.
- Find a link to the Snapchat profile from the celebrity’s official website or verified Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or X account.
- Compare the biography, photographs, spelling and external links across official channels.
- Be suspicious of requests for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, banking details, passwords or a “verification fee.”
- Never pay anyone who claims to sell or obtain Snap Star status; Snapchat says it does not charge for verification.
- Do not trust a screenshot of a badge or a similar-looking username.
- Report impersonation through Snapchat’s official reporting tools and stop communicating with the account.
Search and Spotlight can surface fan-made celebrity videos and hashtags. A video featuring a celebrity does not prove that the publishing account belongs to that person: Snapchat celebrity discovery.
Why old Snapchat celebrity lists go wrong
Early entertainment roundups often remain highly visible even though they were published years ago. For example, a Us Weekly list dated April 9, 2016 is historical context, not current account verification: 2016 list. Handles can be renamed, abandoned, privatized or reassigned, and a celebrity can stop using Snapchat without deleting the profile.
A dependable directory should show the date checked, define “active” (for example, a post within the previous 30 days), identify whether evidence is first-party or third-party, and review entries monthly or quarterly.

Practical verification standard
- Identity: establish the person through a Snap Star label or current first-party link.
- Existence: confirm that the username resolves in the current app.
- Activity: note the most recent public post and your check date.
- Relevance: confirm that posts are genuine celebrity content, not fan reposts.
- Availability: note country, age, device and account limitations for follows or subscriptions.
- Risk: remove accounts showing impersonation or payment scams.
The Bottom Line
Use Snapchat’s live Public Profile, Snap Star label and a current first-party link—not an old username list—as your evidence that a celebrity account is genuine. Following is usually free; subscriptions are optional and limited, and neither a personal reply nor a Snapchat+ badge proves authenticity.
