Can You Have Multiple Accounts on Hulu? Sharing, Profiles and Stream Limits Explained

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Yes. You can maintain multiple Hulu accounts, but each account is a separate paid subscription with its own login and billing. If everyone lives in one home, a single account with profiles is usually enough. If users live in different households, need independent billing, or regularly watch in separate locations, separate accounts are the safer arrangement.

Multiple Hulu accounts versus multiple profiles

A Hulu account is the subscription itself. A profile is a personalized viewing space inside that subscription. Profiles can separate recommendations, Watchlists and viewing history, but they do not create separate passwords, payment methods, household designations or stream allowances.

Feature Separate Hulu account Hulu profile
Login credentials Separate login Uses the shared account login
Billing Separate subscription and payer One account holder pays
Viewing history and recommendations Separate Personalized within the account
Simultaneous streams Each subscription has its own allowance Shares the account’s allowance
Household rules Each account has its own subscription terms Still governed by the original account’s terms
Best use Different households or independent billing People living together

Hulu has historically offered multiple profiles, but older announcements should not be treated as proof of a current fixed profile limit. Check the profile-management screen or current Hulu Help documentation for the limit on your account.

How Hulu defines household sharing

Hulu’s Subscriber Agreement, updated February 5, 2026, defines a household as the devices associated with the subscriber’s primary personal residence and the people who live there. Unless a service tier specifically permits it, sharing a subscription outside that household is restricted. Hulu says it may analyze account use and can limit or terminate access when it determines that the agreement has been violated.

  • TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
  • Family members in one home: Normally the straightforward use case for one account and separate profiles.
  • Relatives in different homes: A family relationship alone does not make two addresses one Hulu household.
  • Roommates: One account is generally practical while everyone shares the residence. A roommate who permanently moves out should normally obtain a separate subscription.
  • College students and relatives: There is no blanket answer; the household arrangement, service tier, device use and Hulu’s current rules matter.

How many people can watch Hulu at once?

Count simultaneous streams, not the number of devices signed in. A household may have several televisions, phones and browsers connected, yet only the permitted number can play at the same time.

  • Hulu’s current plan presentation says the Hulu library can be watched on two different screens at the same time: Hulu plan page.
  • Hulu + Live TV provides two simultaneous screens by default, subject to service-tier, content, device and account conditions.
  • Hulu notes in its agreement that concurrent-stream limits can vary by tier or content and may change.

Two screens means two active playbacks, not two total registered devices or two permitted households.

What Unlimited Screens does—and does not—do

Qualifying Hulu + Live TV subscribers can add Unlimited Screens. Hulu describes it as expanded viewing on more than two supported devices at home; its public information also says the add-on permits three screens while away from home. See Hulu’s Live TV page and Hulu’s Live Sports information.

  • It is intended for several viewers in the same household.
  • It does not create sub-accounts, separate passwords or independent billing.
  • It does not override the household-sharing restriction.
  • It does not provide unlimited out-of-home streams.
  • It is available only with qualifying Hulu + Live TV plans. Hulu’s public pages reviewed do not show a dependable standalone price, so verify the current amount in your account’s checkout flow.

Why Hulu + Live TV has extra location rules

Hulu + Live TV requires a designated Home network. Under the Subscriber Agreement, that network must be a residential, non-mobile internet connection. Hulu specifically says a mobile hotspot cannot serve as the Home network: Hulu Live Sports.

The agreement also says mobile-device access from the Home location should occur every 30 days, or within the period specified by Hulu Help. These rules matter when parents and adult children live apart, when a roommate moves, or when someone wants to use one Live TV subscription permanently in two homes. Travel is not the same as authorizing a second household; keep the Home setting and follow Hulu’s current travel and mobile-access requirements.

Choose the arrangement that matches your living situation

Situation Best starting point Reason
Family or roommates in one home One Hulu account with profiles Shared billing and personalized viewing are usually sufficient.
One home with frequent simultaneous Live TV viewing Hulu + Live TV with Unlimited Screens, if eligible Expands in-home concurrent viewing without opening another subscription.
Adult child or former roommate in another home Separate Hulu account Clearer household compliance and independent access.
Two households that need Hulu at the same time Separate subscriptions Each household controls its own streams and account.
Separate billing, passwords or privacy Separate accounts A profile cannot provide those independently.
Temporary travel Keep the existing account and follow Hulu’s travel/Home rules Travel does not automatically authorize permanent use from another residence.

Cost and plan considerations

A second account normally means paying for a second subscription rather than adding a profile. Hulu’s public page displayed the following Hulu + Live TV prices on August 18, 2026: $89.99 per month for Hulu + Live TV with Disney+ and ESPN Select, and $99.99 per month for the Premium version. Prices and plan names can change, so confirm the current offer before subscribing.

For a single household, compare the price of an eligible Unlimited Screens add-on with the cost of another full subscription. That comparison is useful only when the viewers share the same household; Unlimited Screens is not a license to split one account between addresses.

Disney+ bundles and linked profiles

A Disney bundle does not automatically combine every service’s stream allowance. Disney’s help pages say Hulu content viewed through Disney+ can be streamed on up to two devices simultaneously, subject to the applicable app and subscription rules: Hulu through Disney+ and Disney+ concurrent streams.

Disney also offers profile linking in eligible situations, but exclusions can include Hulu + Live TV, certain bundles and Hulu add-ons: Disney+ profile-linking guidance. Linking a profile is not the same as merging two Hulu subscriptions, transferring their histories or combining their billing. The available official material does not establish a general Hulu-account merger process.

Can separate accounts use one email address?

Hulu’s current public material does not establish the email-address rule for a second subscription. Use the current signup flow to determine whether Hulu requires a different email address; do not assume that aliases, plus-addressing or a recycled address will work.

Fixing a “too many streams” problem

  1. Stop playback on unused televisions, phones, tablets and browsers.
  2. Close the Hulu app or browser tab on those devices.
  3. Sign out of devices the household no longer uses and change the password if a former household member still has access.
  4. Check the account’s plan and confirm whether the simultaneous-stream allowance has been reached.
  5. If you have Hulu + Live TV, verify whether Unlimited Screens is active and whether the viewing is treated as in-home or away from Home.
  6. If playback still appears stuck, use Hulu’s current troubleshooting destination, How many screens can I watch Hulu on at the same time?, or contact Hulu Support.

Bottom line for families, roommates and separate households

Use profiles when people share one household account and only need personalized recommendations and Watchlists. Use separate Hulu accounts when people live at different addresses, require independent billing or privacy, or need separate plan choices. For a crowded home that watches Hulu + Live TV simultaneously, Unlimited Screens may solve an in-home capacity problem—but it does not turn one subscription into multiple household accounts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Hulu profiles have separate passwords?

No. Profiles personalize viewing inside one account and use the account’s shared login; they do not create independent credentials.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I use one Hulu + Live TV account at two permanent addresses?

That arrangement can conflict with Hulu’s household and Home-network requirements. Separate subscriptions are the clearer option for two permanent households.

Can I merge two Hulu subscriptions?

The available official information confirms some Hulu-to-Disney+ profile linking, but does not establish a general process for merging two separately billed Hulu accounts.

Does a Disney+ and Hulu bundle give unlimited Hulu streams?

No. Hulu, Disney+ and Hulu content viewed through Disney+ can have different app-specific limits and terms.
