Beyoncé introduced Team USA in a 2-minute-30-second video that aired on NBC and Peacock during NBCUniversal’s primetime coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Opening Ceremony on July 26, 2024. The clip ran just before the U.S. athletes appeared in the parade on the River Seine, pairing Beyoncé’s narration with footage of dozens of American athletes and her song “YA YA” from Cowboy Carter.
When and where the video aired
NBC Sports said the introduction aired on NBC and Peacock during the Opening Ceremony broadcast, immediately before Team USA’s parade appearance. The ceremony’s Seine procession featured nearly 90 boats, according to NBC’s announcement; that figure describes the flotilla, not the video or its audience. The announcement was published July 26, 2024, the night of the broadcast. NBC Sports’ announcement
Which athletes appear
The video features dozens of Team USA athletes. NBC specifically named Simone Biles, Caeleb Dressel, LeBron James, Katie Ledecky, Noah Lyles, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, and Sha’Carri Richardson among them. It is a montage and team introduction—not an individual introduction of every member of the American delegation.
Beyoncé’s appearance and words
Beyoncé appears on camera in a red, white, and blue look: a USA bodysuit, cape, blue cowboy hat, and white cowboy boots, as described by NBC. She also narrates the video. NBC quoted her opening line as: “America, give it up for Team USA, the very best of who we are.”
