Set up each YouTube channel before scheduling
- Enable live streaming on every channel. YouTube requires channel verification and live streaming to be enabled. First-time activation can take at least 24 hours, so do this before a planned launch. YouTube: enable live streaming.
- Authorize the account that owns each channel. YouTube API requests must be authorized by the Google Account that owns the broadcasting channel. - Allocate one stream connection per concurrently live channel. Match the number of active streams or slots to the number of channels that need simultaneous feeds. A single scheduled event or playlist does not remove the need for separate channel streams.
- Test the complete handoff. Before relying on a recurring schedule, check that the right playlist reaches the intended channel at the intended time, and confirm what happens if a scheduled item is missing or the feed disconnects.
Rights, monetization, and replay limits
Clear rights before broadcasting
YouTube’s livestream terms make the provider responsible for having the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights involving artists, labels, publishers, and other rights participants. A 24/7 loop is not a monetization guarantee
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and require original, authentic content. In its July 15, 2025 policy clarification, YouTube described “inauthentic content” as repetitive or mass-produced material; interchangeable programming or content lacking creative, educational, or other value may be ineligible. YouTube reported that channels choosing live automatic mid-roll ads had over 20% higher in-stream ad revenue per hour on average than channels that did not, across 207 countries in January 2024.
