Charity Beallis, 40, and her six-year-old twins were found dead at their home in Bonanza, Arkansas, on December 3, 2025, the day after she and her estranged husband attended a final divorce and custody hearing. In a March 2026 update, Action News 5/Gray News reported the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office’s conclusion, based on Arkansas State Crime Lab autopsies, that Beallis died by suicide and the children died by homicide. Investigators said they found no evidence that another person was in the home that night. The reported timing does not establish that the hearing caused the deaths or explain a motive.

What investigators said happened

Deputies went to a home in Bonanza on December 3, 2025, after a welfare call and found Beallis and her two children dead, according to the sheriff’s office as reported by Action News 5/Gray News on March 5, 2026. Early reports described apparent gunshot wounds. The later account reported the autopsy classifications: Beallis’s death was ruled a suicide, and the children’s deaths were ruled homicides.

The sheriff’s office said investigators examined phone records, vehicle locations and security-alarm data and found no evidence that another person had been at the home during the night of the deaths. The office said its findings were consistent with the autopsies and described the case as a murder-suicide. Its public statement was that it “has not found any evidence thus far to indicate any other conclusion other than that determined by the autopsies conducted by ASCL.” These are the agency’s reported findings; the underlying records and autopsy reports have not been independently reviewed here.

What was reported about the divorce hearing

Beallis and her estranged husband, Randall Beallis, attended a final divorce and custody hearing in Fort Smith on December 2, 2025. The sheriff’s office later said the court ordered joint custody to begin. It also said the hearing transcript showed Charity Beallis wished to reconcile with her husband, but that reconciliation did not happen. The transcript itself was not available for independent review, so those details are attributed to the sheriff’s office as reported by Action News 5/Gray News.

Oxygen’s December 9, 2025, account said Beallis had filed for divorce in March and requested full custody. That article also reported, based on records it cited, that Randall Beallis had recently been arrested in a separate domestic-battery-related matter. These are details from earlier secondary reporting, not findings about the deaths. The later sheriff’s update did not report that Randall Beallis was responsible; it said investigators found no evidence of another person in the home that night.

How the public account changed

In the first days after the discovery, reports said no suspect had been publicly named and no one had been charged in the killings. On December 11, WBTV/KFSM via CNN Newsource reported that Randall Beallis’s attorney denied his responsibility and said he had cooperated. Those statements reflected the public status and the attorney’s position at that time; they are not the later investigative conclusion.

The March 5, 2026, report from Action News 5/Gray News conveyed the sheriff’s office’s subsequent account of the autopsies and its conclusion that the deaths were a murder-suicide. That later update should be distinguished from the earlier reports that described an investigation still in progress.

What remains unestablished

  • The reviewed reporting does not establish why the deaths occurred or whether the divorce hearing played any causal role. The sequence of events alone cannot answer either question.
  • The sheriff’s office’s account of the transcript, investigative data and autopsies is reported through news coverage; the transcript, case file and reports themselves were not independently reviewed.
  • The finding that no other person was present that night is the sheriff’s office’s reported conclusion based on its investigation, not an independent examination of the underlying evidence.
