Apple and Major League Baseball’s August 2026 Friday Night Baseball package features four Friday doubleheaders on August 7, 14, 21, and 28. The month includes Yankees–Red Sox, Cardinals–Cubs, and two Toronto postseason rematches. Live games require an Apple TV subscription, which costs $12.99 per month in the U.S. and includes a seven-day trial for new subscribers.
Apple announced the schedule on July 9, 2026. Because August 7 and August 14 have already passed as of August 18, the remaining live dates are August 21 and August 28.
August 2026 Friday Night Baseball schedule
Friday Night Baseball remains a weekly Apple TV doubleheader during the 2026 regular season. Apple says the games are available in 60 countries and regions and have no local broadcast restrictions for this package.

The biggest August matchups
Yankees at Red Sox — August 28
The month’s most immediately recognizable game is the Yankees–Red Sox rivalry at Boston. It is the clearest marquee attraction in the remaining schedule and gives viewers a nationally familiar matchup without needing to follow a particular local broadcast.
Cardinals at Cubs — August 14
St. Louis and Chicago renew one of baseball’s oldest rivalries in a daytime game. Apple highlighted Jordan Walker and Alex Bregman among the players connected with the matchup.
Blue Jays postseason rematches
Toronto appears twice in notable rematches: at Yankee Stadium on August 14, following the 2025 American League Division Series, and at Seattle on August 28, following the 2025 American League Championship Series.
Seattle and Tampa Bay appear twice
Seattle and Tampa Bay are each scheduled to appear twice during August. Apple described Seattle and Tampa Bay as American League leaders when it published the announcement on July 9; standings and playoff positioning can change, so that description should not be treated as a current August standings claim.

How to watch
- Open the Apple TV app on a supported device and select the game.
- Alternatively, visit tv.apple.com, sign in or create an Apple ID, and choose the live broadcast.
- In supported locations, the MLB.TV app may show an Apple TV game link that redirects viewers to Apple’s service.
You need both an Apple ID and an active Apple TV subscription. An MLB.TV subscription is not presented by MLB as a substitute for the Apple TV subscription for these games.
Apple TV, Apple TV+, and MLB.TV are not the same thing
The assignment is commonly described as “Apple TV+ Friday Night Baseball,” and older coverage uses that name. Apple’s 2026 announcement, however, uses Apple TV as the current service branding. Viewers should look for the Apple TV app or visit tv.apple.com—not an app named Apple TV+.
The Apple TV streaming service is also different from Apple TV 4K hardware. MLB.TV is a separate MLB subscription product with broader baseball access, but it does not replace the Apple TV subscription for these Friday doubleheaders.

As of August 18, 2026, Apple lists the U.S. price at $12.99 per month. New subscribers can receive a seven-day free trial. The trial is not permanent free access: it is for eligible new subscribers and normally renews as a paid subscription unless canceled under Apple’s terms.

Apple TV’s subscription is required for the live games. The Apple TV app may also offer free MLB-related material such as highlights, recaps, interviews, classic games, and other programming, but those free items do not make the Friday Night Baseball doubleheaders free.
The subscription also does not automatically include third-party branded subscription services or content separately rented or purchased through the Apple TV app. The U.S. price, trial eligibility, and availability can change.

- Compatible Samsung, LG, Sony, VIZIO, TCL, and other smart TVs
- Roku devices
- Amazon Fire TV devices

- Web browsers at tv.apple.com
Compatibility can vary by device model, operating system, and region. If the game is not immediately visible, search within the Apple TV app or check its Sports section. Apple’s support pages provide the latest device and account guidance.

Game-specific announcer assignments are released weekly, so a particular August booth should not be assumed until Apple confirms it. Pregame coverage is hosted by Lauren Gardner, former MLB All-Star Eric Hosmer, and insider Russell Dorsey.
The broadcasts are produced by MLB Network’s Emmy Award-winning production team in partnership with Apple’s live sports production team. The first game of each weekly doubleheader is presented by Essilor.

Fans in the United States and Canada can choose home and away local radio broadcasts when available. In Canada, Apple says radio broadcasts are available only for Toronto Blue Jays home games. Radio availability is therefore an option, not a guaranteed feature for every game or location.

Apple TV is a sensible short-term option for viewers who want the selected Friday doubleheaders, already have a compatible device, value the absence of local broadcast restrictions for this package, or want Apple’s studio presentation and available local-radio choices.

It is less suitable for fans who want every MLB game. Friday Night Baseball is a curated weekly doubleheader, not a replacement for a full-season MLB package. Commercial venues also need business-specific arrangements rather than a household subscription; Apple identifies DIRECTV FOR BUSINESS and EverPass as business access options.
What remains in August?
As of August 18, the August 21 and August 28 doubleheaders are still ahead. The August 28 Yankees–Red Sox and Blue Jays–Mariners games are the month’s most prominent remaining matchups. Check Apple or MLB shortly before each Friday for confirmed start times, broadcast assignments, availability, and any schedule changes.
