Dune: Part Two was the standout new streaming arrival for May 21–27, 2024. This guide rounds up all nine films from that week, separating subscription streaming from premium rentals and purchases—and clearly labeling the list as historical because streaming catalogs change.
The biggest arrival in this May 21–27, 2024 streaming guide is Dune: Part Two on Max. The nine-film lineup also includes the action-comedy The Fall Guy, the aviation documentary The Blue Angels, Jennifer Lopez’s sci-fi thriller Atlas, and documentaries about Ferrari and the Beach Boys.
There is an important date and pricing distinction: this is a historical guide to the week of May 21–27, 2024. The platform assignments below describe that original release window, not guaranteed availability today. The titles marked PVOD were offered to rent or buy separately, rather than as part of a standard subscription.

1. Dune: Part Two — Max
Dune: Part Two is the clear headline pick. Denis Villeneuve’s sequel follows Paul Atreides as he joins the Fremen, seeks revenge against the forces that destroyed his family, and confronts the political and messianic consequences of his growing influence. His relationship with Chani remains central as personal loyalty collides with prophecy and power.

This is the choice for viewers who want the largest-scale film in the group: immense desert imagery, elaborate world-building, major action set pieces, and an ensemble built around Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Austin Butler, and Florence Pugh. It works best when you are prepared to give the film your full attention rather than treat it as background viewing.
In the original 2024 window, the film arrived on Max. That subscription placement should not be read as a promise that it remains in the service’s catalog. If you prefer a permanent copy or a higher-end home-theater presentation, the film also received physical 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray editions; an optional Dune: Part Two 4K UHD purchase is the most natural ownership route for this list. Check the live retailer page for region, price, format, and current stock before buying.
2. The Fall Guy — PVOD
Ryan Gosling plays Colt Seavers, a stuntman pulled into the search for a missing movie star while trying to repair his relationship with Jody Moreno, played by Emily Blunt. What begins as a professional assignment develops into a conspiracy wrapped in a Hollywood romance.
The film’s strongest appeal is its combination of practical stunt spectacle, romantic comedy, and self-aware movie-business humor. It is a particularly good fit if you want something lighter and more energetic than the week’s darker thrillers.

3. Stress Positions — PVOD
Theda Hammel’s comedy-drama is set in Brooklyn during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Terry Goon tries to impose quarantine rules while caring for his injured nephew in a brownstone, but friends and relatives continually disrupt the arrangement.

This is a more specialized recommendation than Dune: Part Two or The Fall Guy. Its appeal comes from the claustrophobic social setup, messy relationships, and deliberately chaotic portrait of people attempting—and repeatedly failing—to maintain boundaries during an extraordinary period.
The film was presented as a PVOD rental or purchase in the May 21–27, 2024 guide. Because digital rights for a niche title can move between services, search for the film by name at your preferred video store rather than assuming that any one retailer still carries it.
4. The Blue Angels — Prime Video
This feature documentary follows the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron through selection, training, and its performance season. Rather than focusing only on the finished aerial displays, it gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the precision, teamwork, and demanding preparation required to become a Blue Angel.
It is the week’s most straightforward documentary recommendation for aviation enthusiasts, military-documentary viewers, and anyone interested in how a highly coordinated flight team works under extreme pressure. The appeal is as much procedural as spectacular: the performances are the payoff, while the selection and training process supplies the human story.
The historical listing placed The Blue Angels on Prime Video. As with every subscription title here, confirm the current catalog in your country before planning a viewing.
5. The Seeding — Hulu
The Seeding is a bleak desert survival thriller. After becoming stranded, a man finds a shack and discovers that the woman inside is trapped in a violent situation involving feral teenagers.

The film is best approached as an atmospheric, contained genre movie. Its harsh setting and escalating sense of entrapment are the main attractions. It is a better match for viewers seeking unease and isolation than for anyone looking for a fast, explanation-heavy thriller. The film’s pacing and relatively thin narrative were points of criticism, so expectations should be calibrated accordingly.
It was listed on Hulu during the 2024 week covered here. Catalog availability is region-specific and may have changed.
6. Atlas — Netflix
Jennifer Lopez stars as Atlas Shepherd, a highly capable analyst who distrusts artificial intelligence. When a mission to capture a renegade robot goes wrong, Atlas must depend on an AI system in order to survive and finish the operation—the very kind of technology she believes cannot be trusted.
The film offers accessible science-fiction action built around a recognizable star, space travel, robots, and the human-versus-AI conflict. Its central hook is not simply whether the mission succeeds, but whether Atlas can revise her assumptions about artificial intelligence when survival makes cooperation unavoidable.

7. Civil War — PVOD
Alex Garland’s Civil War follows journalists traveling from New York to Washington, D.C., during a second American civil war. The film is not structured primarily as a conventional frontline battle movie. Its road-thriller perspective keeps attention on the journalists, the media’s role, and the way ordinary social order breaks down around them.

That framing makes it a strong choice for viewers interested in political tension, journalism, and unsettling speculative drama. It should be understood as fictional filmmaking—not a factual account or a prediction of real events.
In the original week, Civil War was offered through PVOD. A verified digital store may offer a choice to buy Civil War digitally or rent it, but prices, formats, and availability are volatile. Check the current listing before paying.
8. Ferrari — Hulu
Michael Mann’s Ferrari dramatizes Enzo Ferrari’s personal and professional pressures in 1957. Adam Driver plays Enzo Ferrari, while Penélope Cruz plays Laura Ferrari. The story brings together the company’s financial danger, Enzo’s strained marriage, and preparations for the Mille Miglia.
This is less a simple racing showcase than a character-driven drama about the cost of building a legendary automotive operation. Motorsport fans will find the Mille Miglia context, engineering ambition, and racing stakes compelling, while viewers interested in biographical cinema can approach it as a portrait of a man balancing business, family, grief, and reputation.
The film was listed on Hulu for the 2024 streaming week. Confirm its present-day home before searching for it there.
9. The Beach Boys — Disney+
The Beach Boys is a feature documentary about the band’s formation, rise, musical legacy, and carefully cultivated California image. Disney+ announced an exclusive debut on May 24, 2024, supported by archival footage and new interviews with band members and other music-industry figures.

It is the natural choice for viewers who want music history rather than a fictionalized band biopic. The documentary’s value lies in the combination of archival access, the group’s cultural impact, and the story behind the sound and image associated with the Beach Boys.
The film’s historical home was Disney+. Streaming rights and catalog placement can change, so treat that assignment as specific to the May 2024 release window rather than a current availability guarantee.
How to choose from this week’s nine movies

- Want a tense, unsettling night? Try The Seeding for survival horror or Civil War for a media-centered political road thriller.

Before you press play
- Check the date. This guide covers May 21–27, 2024, not a current week.
- Check the business model. Max, Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix, and Disney+ refer to the historical subscription placements; PVOD titles required an additional rental or purchase.
- Check your region. Streaming rights differ by country, and a film can leave a service without notice.
- Check the exact edition. For physical or digital purchases, confirm whether you are selecting 4K UHD, Blu-ray, rental, or purchase.
- Do not assume Prime membership covers PVOD. A title sold through an Amazon video store can still require a separate payment.
