Torrie Wilson’s regular in-ring career ended in 2008 after injuries, including a back injury, forced her to step away. She later shifted her attention toward fitness instruction and helping others get in shape. Wilson did return for two WWE events in 2018 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019, but those appearances did not mark a return to a full-time wrestling schedule.
Why did Torrie Wilson retire from wrestling?
WWE said injuries forced Wilson out of the ring in 2008. ESPNW’s 2019 report identified a back injury as the reason she walked away. The available reporting does not establish a more specific diagnosis or describe the injury’s severity, so it is best understood as an injury-related end to her regular in-ring career rather than a claim about a particular medical condition.
Years later, Wilson also described an emotional reason she kept her distance from wrestling after leaving. In a 2024 interview reported by POST Wrestling, she said she did not want anything to do with wrestling for years because she felt vulnerable on television and judged for a raunchy role that did not feel like her. That is Wilson’s personal account of her experience, distinct from the injury explanation given for her departure.
What did she do after leaving the ring?
Wilson turned toward fitness and helping other people get in shape. WWE’s 2019 Hall of Fame announcement says she developed an interest in helping others through ventures including Torrie Wilson Fit. In a 2016 WWE video, she said that after recovering from back surgery she realized she wanted to teach fitness and launched TorrieWilsonFit.com.

When was Torrie Wilson inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame?
WWE announced Wilson as a member of the Hall of Fame Class of 2019 on March 4, 2019; the ceremony took place on April 6. In her speech, she offered three rules of success: “Realize that permission is for pansies. We don’t need anyone’s permission to be who they are”; “Gotta forget the failure. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t hired based on my wrestling skills. I had none”; and “Summon your swagger. Even if your swagger is dorky as hell, your swagger is the first thing that people see.” WWE’s recap of her speech also quotes her describing the courage to keep coming back, even when she was not the best.
