Coverage of the exchange describes it as a conditional comment made during a discussion of economic hardship. It was not a reported resignation, and none of the reviewed reports included a departure date or a formal announcement. The headline wording “admits she’d leave” overstates what she said, so this article uses her actual phrasing throughout.
What Goldberg actually said
According to Salon’s November 12, 2024 report, Goldberg began by acknowledging the economic pressure many viewers were feeling, then made the conditional statement. The reports reproduce the following remarks, which are the wording to use when quoting her:
“I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me, too. I work for a living.”
“If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here, okay? So, I’m a working person, you know?”

“My kid has to feed her family. My great-granddaughter has to be fed by her family. I know it’s hard out there.”
Salon attributes these quotations to the live episode. The reports reviewed here do not include an official transcript from ABC, so minor differences in punctuation or wording are possible in other versions of the clip.

The context around the remark
The comment came during a segment about working-class struggles and voters’ concerns around the 2024 election. Hindustan Times, writing on November 13, 2024, placed the statement in a “Hot Topic” segment about Donald Trump’s second presidency. The Independent’s November 13, 2024 report described the wider discussion, which also touched on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez asking followers about voting tactics and co-host Sara Haines discussing why some voters believed Trump could help working-class people.
Taken together, these accounts frame the remark as part of a conversation about money pressure and who people feel represents them. Goldberg’s point was about her own identity as someone who works for a living, not a plan to leave the program.

Hypothetical remark versus a departure
The distinction matters for accuracy. A conditional statement about what would happen in a different financial situation is not the same as an announcement. The reviewed reports do not describe her giving notice, signing a contract change, or setting a last date on the show.
Use these phrasings when writing about the comment:
Rank #4
- “Said she would not be on the show if she had all the money in the world”
- “Made a hypothetical remark about leaving The View“
Avoid wording such as “announced she is quitting,” “is leaving the show,” or “cannot afford to stop working.” None of those claims is supported by the coverage of the November 2024 episode.
Her tenure and current status
Hindustan Times and The Independent both state that Goldberg joined The View in 2007. Salon described her as having co-hosted the program for nearly 20 years in its November 2024 report. These are descriptions tied to the date of those articles. The sources reviewed for this piece do not confirm her current role, so anyone stating her present status should check a current ABC or The View source before publishing.

Money figures to leave out
Several online outlets publish net-worth and salary estimates for Goldberg. Salon repeats figures attributed to other publications, but the reviewed material does not establish a primary, independently verified number for her salary or wealth. Those estimates should not be presented as fact, and the comment should not be used to infer her personal finances.
Hindustan Times also includes a percentage in its coverage of the discussion, but the reviewed report does not identify a primary source for it, so it should not be repeated as a verified statistic.
