During a segment about ABC’s reality series The Golden Bachelor, Whoopi Goldberg looked off-camera and asked why the on-screen text had been changed: “Did he… why did you change it?” The only detailed account available is a secondary video listing from USA Insider, published September 25, 2025. It describes a brief teleprompter mix-up on The View, and it does not name the person involved or explain what caused the change.
What the reporting describes
The listing lays out a short sequence. Goldberg was reading copy for a segment on The Golden Bachelor, the age-related dating discussion that followed the show’s premise. Partway through, the teleprompter text differed from what she expected. She glanced off-camera and asked the question above. Co-hosts Joy Behar and Alyssa Farah Griffin laughed, and the segment then returned to its dating discussion.
That is the full extent of the on-air moment as reported. Readers should treat it as a description of one exchange, not a transcript.

Dating the clip
The September 25, 2025 date is when the USA Insider video listing was published. It is not confirmed as the broadcast date of the episode. The listing does not say which episode aired the exchange, so readers looking for the original broadcast should not rely on that date alone.
Where to watch The View
ABC’s programming information says The View streams on ABC and is available the next day on Disney+ and Hulu. An ABC programming announcement dated September 4, 2026, promoting the Season 30 premiere, carries the same general distribution context. Those statements describe the show’s current distribution, not the availability of any specific episode from 2025. To find the exchange, check the full episode list for the relevant date on Disney+ or Hulu, or on ABC’s own site, and confirm the episode is still offered there.

Why the moment drew attention
Live talk shows depend on prepared text that moderators read while the camera is running. When the text on screen does not match what a host expects, the host has to decide in seconds whether to correct course, ask about it, or move on. Goldberg chose to ask about it, and the co-hosts’ laughter kept the moment light. The clip is best understood as a brief, good-natured interruption rather than a dispute.
- The question was asked on air, in the context of a segment about The Golden Bachelor.
- The segment resumed within the same exchange, according to the listing.
- No further official comment on the change has been identified.
