The official material identifies Downey as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom, but it does not establish a connection between Doom and Tony Stark—or explain the full story behind the villain’s arrival.
What the first official look confirms
Disney’s US Avengers: Doomsday film page carries the “Official Trailer,” listed at 2:25, alongside promotional imagery and shorter video assets. Its caption identifies Downey as “Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom.” Disney UK Press announced the new trailer and poster on July 20, 2026, describing a clash among heroes from three distinct universes against an existential threat.
That is the confirmed scope of the reveal: Downey is playing Victor von Doom, and the film brings together heroes facing a major threat. Trailer frames and promotional images are glimpses, not a complete account of Doom’s motivations, the plot, or how the universes collide.
What does Doctor Doom look like in Avengers: Doomsday?
The official trailer and poster provide the first public visual material for Downey as Doom. Disney’s materials identify the character by name, but the official descriptions do not provide a detailed character biography or explain what the images mean for the story. For the clearest view, watch the official trailer and inspect the imagery on Disney’s film page rather than treating any single frame as a full plot revelation.

Who is Victor von Doom?
Disney+ Australia describes Victor von Doom as the mysterious monarch of Latveria and a master of sorcery and technology. That combination gives the character a distinct identity in the official description; it does not, by itself, confirm how the film will portray his history or powers.
Is Doctor Doom Tony Stark?
No connection between Tony Stark and Doctor Doom has been confirmed. Disney+ Australia explicitly says theories linking the characters are speculation. Downey’s return to the MCU in a new role does not establish that Doom is Stark, a Stark variant, or a character with a shared origin.
