Netflix and Mojang are making an animated series set in the Minecraft universe. It is described as a CG-animated original story with new characters, and Netflix is the announced exclusive debut platform. Netflix currently labels it “Coming Soon,” but no premiere date or release window has been announced in the official pages reviewed.
What is the Minecraft animated series about?
Mojang’s May 30, 2024 announcement says the series will tell “an original story with new characters” and reflect the Minecraft world “in a new light.” Netflix Tudum’s May 31, 2024 announcement also describes an original story with new characters and identifies the series as CG-animated.
That is the confirmed premise. The official announcements do not provide detailed plot points, name characters, or connect the series to a particular game update or existing Minecraft story.
When will the Minecraft series be released?
No release date or release window is stated in the official material reviewed. Netflix’s current animated-programming listing labels the series “Coming Soon” and says it is in development; that wording does not establish a year or a premiere schedule. The announcements also do not give an episode count.

Where will it stream?
The series is announced as debuting exclusively on Netflix. That identifies the intended platform, not current availability: the listing still describes it as coming soon, so there is no basis to say viewers can stream it now.
Which studio is making the series?
The official pages name different studios, and do not explain how their roles relate:

- Mojang’s May 30, 2024 announcement names WildBrain as the development studio.
- Netflix Tudum’s May 31, 2024 article names Flying Bark as the studio involved.
- Netflix’s animated-programming listing later describes Minecraft as in development with WildBrain.
Because the pages do not clarify the distinction, it would be premature to assign either studio a specific production role beyond the wording used by its respective source.
Who is in the cast?
The official pages reviewed do not name any voice actors. No cast should be treated as confirmed unless Netflix or Mojang announces it.

What happened to the series since its announcement?
The project was announced in May 2024. Netflix’s current listing continues to describe it as in development and “Coming Soon,” but provides no dated production update. That leaves the public status limited: the series remains listed by Netflix, while its release timing and further production details have not been established in the cited official material.
