1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe Fantastic Four: First Steps makes its case for a fresh corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe through three choices: a 1960s-inspired retro-futurist world, a superhero family that is already formed, and a threat large enough to put Earth at risk. Together, those elements make the trailer campaign feel less like a restart and more like an invitation into a distinct world.
A new MCU entry with its own visual identity
Marvel’s campaign describes the film’s setting as a “1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world.” The first trailer and poster launched on February 4, 2025, at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, with cast appearances and a Marvel livestream. Disney’s later announcement highlighted the same period-inspired look alongside the team, Silver Surfer, and H.E.R.B.I.E; the D23 feature adds that the design draws on 2001: A Space Odyssey and the work of Fantastic Four co-creator Jack Kirby, whose art with Stan Lee helped establish the characters.
That mix gives the campaign a clear visual proposition: familiar superhero figures presented through geometric shapes, vibrant colors, and retro-futurism rather than a generic contemporary setting. Pedro Pascal, who plays Reed Richards, told D23, “I think one of its strengths is its aesthetic.”
Why this is not another origin story
The film begins with the Fantastic Four already established. D23 says it is not an origin story: the action starts four years after Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm were exposed to cosmic rays. The story takes place in the alternate universe Earth-828.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That starting point changes what the trailer can promise. Instead of asking viewers to follow four separate transformations into heroes, it can introduce them as a family with history, habits, and responsibilities already in place. Disney’s campaign calls them Marvel’s “First Family,” making their relationship part of the film’s central appeal rather than background to the action.
The family faces a planetary threat
Disney’s synopsis puts the family’s mission in direct terms: defend Earth from Galactus and his Herald, Silver Surfer. The campaign names Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as Silver Surfer, positioning them as the principal threat behind the film’s cosmic stakes.

The trailer campaign therefore joins two scales: the intimate dynamics of an established family and a danger that could affect the whole planet. Its other featured figures include H.E.R.B.I.E., while the core team is played by Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.
What the trailer campaign is selling
- A distinct setting: a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, with design influences identified by D23 as 2001: A Space Odyssey and Jack Kirby’s work.
- A different starting point: the heroes are already a family and a team, rather than newcomers being introduced through an origin story.
- Big stakes with a personal center: the Four must defend Earth from Galactus and Silver Surfer while the campaign emphasizes their family bond.
These are the ingredients behind the sense of a “new MCU”: not a declared studio promise to remake the wider franchise, but a campaign effect grounded in a separate universe, a strong period aesthetic, and a family whose story is already underway.
