Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 began airing on January 16, 2026, so its “new trailer” is now a look back at the season’s promotion—not a preview of an upcoming premiere. Crunchyroll’s January 11 report tied the latest trailer to Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s opening song, “lulu.”, and the casting of Kazuhiko Inoue as the Hero of the South.
Which Frieren Season 2 trailer is this?
Season 2 had several promotional videos, so the date matters. The trailer covered in Crunchyroll’s January 11, 2026 report previewed “lulu.”, performed by Mrs. GREEN APPLE, as the season’s opening song and announced Kazuhiko Inoue as the voice of the Hero of the South. Read Crunchyroll’s report on the January trailer.
It is distinct from the earlier Trailer 2, published by Crunchyroll on December 6, 2025. That video description said, “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 is coming to Crunchyroll January 2026!” That was a dated promotional announcement, not a promise of present-day streaming availability. Watch Crunchyroll’s December 2025 trailer.
What the promotion reveals—and what it does not
The opening song and a newly announced voice actor
“lulu.” gives the January trailer a prominent musical hook, while the Hero of the South casting announcement adds a named voice actor to the season’s promotion. Together, these are its clearest concrete news points; the trailer report does not establish that either announcement was part of the December video.

A striking key visual, without a plot explanation
The official Season 2 key visual places Frieren, Fern, and Stark in a crystal-like environment. It offers an evocative image of the trio, but the visual alone does not explain an arc or confirm specific story events. The official site’s Season 2 announcement and key visual are the primary reference.
Season 2 release dates and where it was announced
The season is no longer upcoming. Japan’s official anime announcement scheduled its broadcast to begin Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11 p.m. JST on Nippon TV’s nationwide 30-station network, in the “FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT” slot. See the official Japanese broadcast announcement.

Season 2’s production and later promotion
Madhouse lists Season 2 among its works with a January 2026 label. In March 2026, Crunchyroll reported on a trailer for the Divine Revolte arc, which began with Season 2 episode 6, broadcast in Japan on February 27. That coverage names Tomoya Kitagawa as director, Tomohiro Suzuki for series composition, and Evan Call for music. See Madhouse’s Season 2 listing and Crunchyroll’s Divine Revolte arc trailer report.
For viewers who want to continue with the manga or collect the series
The anime is based on the manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe. Readers new to the source can start with Volume 1; it is a starting point for the manga, not simply the next chapter after Season 2. Crunchyroll’s franchise and store coverage also documents examples of manga, home video, figures, and other fan merchandise. Treat those as examples, not proof that a particular collectible is currently in stock.
