The first official anime teaser was published on July 21, 2023, previewing episode 1071 and announcing its August 6 Japanese broadcast. The episode has since aired; the teaser was a preview, not the full transformation episode.
What the official Gear Fifth teaser announced
The ONE PIECE Official YouTube Channel published the teaser on July 21, 2023. Its description said, “Luffy will get to his ‘PEAK’ in ANIME chap.1071,” and identified manga chapter 1044 as the source material. It named Tatsuya Nagamine as director and Midori Matsuda and Keita Saito as animation directors. Watch the official teaser.
The announcement set the Japanese air date for August 6, 2023. Crunchyroll’s report at the time also described the video as the first preview of Luffy’s peak and said the episode would stream on Crunchyroll soon after its Japanese broadcast. That was a 2023 announcement, not confirmation of current availability in every region. Read Crunchyroll’s July 2023 report.

The teaser offered a look ahead; episode 1071 is the full episode in which the transformation and fight unfold. Viewers looking for the episode should check the current catalog of a licensed service in their country, since the historical Crunchyroll announcement does not establish where it can be streamed now.
