DC has announced the film as part of its DC Universe slate, but its announcement did not name an actor for the role.
Is the Jensen Ackles Brave and the Bold trailer official?
No. The YouTube listing is titled “BATMAN: The Brave and the Bold – Teaser Trailer Concept | Jensen Ackles, James Gunn” and identifies the video as a “Teaser Trailer Concept.” That label means it should be read as a fan-made interpretation, not footage released by DC Studios. The listing, published September 16, 2023, is available on YouTube.
A concept trailer can imagine a performer in a role, but it does not establish that the studio has hired that performer, approved the video, or adopted its creative choices. Any Batman imagery or story ideas in the fan video should be kept separate from what DC has officially described.
Has Jensen Ackles been cast as DCU Batman?
As of the reviewed reporting dated October 3, 2026, Ackles has not been confirmed as the DCU’s Batman. The reporting characterizes Ackles-related claims as casting speculation; neither a fan trailer nor online fan-casting establishes a studio decision. Because casting news can change, check for a direct announcement from DC before treating a new claim as confirmed. The reporting is at ComicBook.com.

What DC has actually announced about The Brave and the Bold
DC Studios announced The Brave and the Bold on January 31, 2023, as part of its first slate of DCU projects. DC described it as a Batman-and-Robin story inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic series. The Robin in the film’s announced premise is Damian Wayne, Batman’s son. DC’s project overview frames it as an unusual father-son story: Batman does not know Damian exists for the first eight to ten years of the boy’s life.
Those details describe the announced premise, not the Ackles concept trailer’s imagined version of the film. DC’s announcement did not name Ackles or confirm a Batman casting choice. See DC’s overview of the next generation of DC movies and TV and its slate announcement.
