How to get Saturday Night Live tickets
Choose between the annual lottery and standby. The lottery requires less effort but is random. Standby gives you a way to try for a specific show, but it involves several timed steps and still may not get you inside. Rockefeller Center’s updated September 1, 2026 guide describes both routes as free; tickets are not sold through legitimate resellers. Avoid anyone asking you to pay for admission.
Enter the annual lottery
The 2026 lottery was reported open August 1–31, with entries selected at random and winners receiving two tickets for a randomly assigned show date and time. Those dates are for the 2026 lottery, not a promise about the next season. Check NBC’s ticket page for the next official entry window. No reliable lottery odds are published in the sources available here, so there is no sound basis for estimating your chances.
Try standby for a specific show
The current reported standby process runs from Thursday through Saturday. A digital reservation is only a place in the queue; a standby card is not a ticket. Admission depends on how many seats remain after ticket holders and guests are seated, and no dependable standby success rate or seat count is available.

Seven practical standby tips
1. Treat standby as a three-day commitment
Plan for a Thursday reservation request, Friday evening check-in and a long wait before card distribution around 12:01 a.m. Saturday. You then return Saturday evening at the time printed on your card. Arrange your travel and schedule around all three stages rather than assuming the reservation itself completes the process.
2. Be ready before Thursday at 10 a.m. ET
During a show week, request a digital standby reservation through the SNL listing on NBC’s Tickets and Studio Tour page. The current reported process opens at 10 a.m. ET Thursday. Reservations are ordered by submission time and capacity may fill quickly, so have the page ready in advance. There is no substantiated evidence that a particular device or repeated refreshing improves your odds.

3. Submit one reservation, not several
The venue guide says duplicate reservations are not allowed and that a later duplicate becomes the operative submission. Follow the listed process once rather than trying to hold multiple places.
4. Make Friday check-in on time
If you have a reservation number, check in with an NBC Page on 49th Street near the NBC marquee during the currently reported 6–7 p.m. ET window. Arriving early does not improve your assigned queue position, but arriving after the cutoff risks losing your place. Build in a travel buffer.

5. Bring valid ID and check the age rule
The venue guide lists 16 as the minimum age. A September 2026 standby guide says each person must be present and have government-issued photo ID showing date of birth; standby cards are limited to one per person and cannot be transferred. Confirm the current age and identification instructions with NBC before you go.
6. Choose the show that matches the experience you want
Standby applicants choose either the Saturday dress rehearsal or the live broadcast. The schedule and runtime below are those reported in the current guide, not permanent guarantees.

7. Pack lightly and check item rules
The September 2026 standby guide says standard single-seat folding chairs are permitted, while lounge chairs, mattresses, sleeping bags and pop-up tents are prohibited. Rules can change, so check NBC’s current instructions before bringing anything. The wait is outdoors and can be long; the venue guide says reasonable breaks for food or restroom needs are allowed. Do not assume that any item is permitted just because it is useful.

- Thursday, 10 a.m. ET: Request a digital reservation for either the 8 p.m. dress rehearsal or 11:30 p.m. live broadcast through NBC’s SNL ticket listing. Reservation numbers are emailed later that day, according to the current reported process.
- Friday, 6–7 p.m. ET: If numbered, check in with an NBC Page on 49th Street near the NBC marquee. People without a number may join the back of the line, but that is not a guaranteed route.
- Around 12:01 a.m. Saturday: Standby cards are handed out to those still in line. The guide describes the wait as about five hours. Keep the card and return Saturday evening at its stated time.
- Saturday evening: Staff count the remaining seats as groups progress. You may not know whether you will be admitted until late in the process.
Can you buy tickets or count on getting in?
No legitimate paid shortcut is established: the standard lottery and standby routes are free, and Rockefeller Center says tickets are never sold. A reservation number gets you into the standby process, not the audience; a card also does not guarantee entry. Because no reliable odds or standby seat totals are published, treat the attempt as uncertain and avoid paying third parties who claim they can secure a ticket.

Check the official instructions before you travel
NBC’s Help Center directs readers to its Tickets and Studio Tour page for live-taping tickets. Use that page to verify the next lottery dates and show-week standby instructions, including reservation timing, check-in location and cutoff, age and ID requirements, and permitted items. The times and policies described above reflect reporting updated in September 2026, not a guarantee that NBC will use the same process for a future show.
