You can run a continuous YouTube Live stream of K-pop instrumental study music with a looping visual and an encoder, but the first requirement is permission for the music—not a particular piece of streaming software. Removing vocals, making a cover, or adding attribution does not clear a track. Secure rights for the sound recording and composition, the visual pairing, live use, territories, monetization, and any archive you plan to keep; then test the whole setup before going public.
Before you stream: clear the music and decide what the broadcast is for
Decide whether the stream will be public, monetized, and archived, and where viewers may access it. Those choices affect which permissions you need. YouTube’s terms make the creator responsible for obtaining the necessary rights to live content, including music rights involving artists, labels, publishers, and other rights participants. The exact requirements can depend on the country and music catalog. YouTube Terms of Service
Instrumental does not mean copyright-free
An instrumental version, cover, recreated arrangement, or track without vocals is not automatically cleared. Confirm permission for both the sound recording and underlying composition, and for synchronizing the music with your visual. Check that the permission covers livestreaming, relevant territories, monetization if applicable, and any on-demand archive you intend to retain. Do not rely on attribution, a “no copyright intended” notice, or a short excerpt as a substitute for permission; YouTube says even short unlicensed uses can be claimed. YouTube Help: Copyright on YouTube
Ask about Content ID before scheduling
YouTube Help says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can cause YouTube to replace the broadcast with a placeholder and warn you; if the matched material continues, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. Even licensed music can trigger a live interruption unless the rights owner has allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Ask the specific rights provider whether allowlisting is needed and get confirmation before a long broadcast. An archive may receive a Content ID claim after the stream ends. YouTube points creators to sources such as its Audio Library, but that alone does not establish that a particular track’s terms cover your territories, live use, monetization, visual synchronization, and archive. Read the terms for each chosen track. For protected catalog music, YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with the label or distributor. YouTube for Artists

Licensed catalog music
Compare the provider’s written grant against your intended use: live performance, visual pairing, available territories, monetization, archive rights, and Content ID handling. A license does not by itself guarantee uninterrupted transmission; confirm whether the owner must allowlist your channel.
Original or commissioned instrumentals
If you own or commission the music, document who controls the recording and composition and obtain written permission for the live and archive uses you want. A commissioned recording is not necessarily a transfer of every relevant right unless the agreement says so.

Looping artwork
Prepare a still image or looping visual that you have permission to use alongside the music. Check both the visual asset’s rights and the music’s synchronization terms. A static visual can keep the setup simpler, but it does not reduce the need to clear the audio.

Verify live-stream access early
YouTube’s live-streaming tips say the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take at least 24 hours, so enable it well before launch. YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test, particularly when you have invested in production. Use an encoder for a designed music-and-visual feed
An encoder lets you combine the audio and visual and gives more control over a designed broadcast than a simple mobile or webcam stream. YouTube describes both software and hardware encoder approaches and says a laptop can be used; the cited guidance does not set minimum computer specifications for a static music stream. Start with a suitable computer you already own rather than assuming you need a new or dedicated machine. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming
Set up and test the broadcast
- Choose the event format. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live event. Set the audience and visibility appropriate to your rights and launch plan.
- Prepare the encoder input. In the event’s Live Control Room, retrieve the YouTube server URL and stream key, then enter them in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio before the next broadcast.
- Configure the audio and visual. Add the cleared music playlist and the visual loop. Set resolution and frame rate to match your source and stable upload capacity; for ordinary static artwork, the cited YouTube guidance does not establish a need for 4K or high frame rates.
- Set encoder output using YouTube’s current guide. Choose the ingest codec and resolution you intend to use, then apply the corresponding bitrate and keyframe settings from YouTube’s current encoding recommendations rather than copying generic settings. YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
- Run an unlisted test. Start the encoder and inspect the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that audio is audible and steady, the visual loops as intended, and stream-health messages show no connection or encoding problem. Check that the stream key points to the event you created.
- Publish only after the test is clean. Make the event public or start the scheduled broadcast only when the preview and rights arrangements are ready.
Keep the stream stable and monitored
Choose quality around reliable upload capacity, not the highest available resolution. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate, allowing 20% upload headroom, and monitoring the stream; a network disruption can break the broadcast. Test the actual connection and encoder under the intended settings before relying on a long run. YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions · YouTube Help: Troubleshoot live streaming
- Watch the Live Control Room for stream-health warnings and confirm that audio and video continue to play.
- Have a person responsible for responding to an encoder failure, internet outage, audio failure, or copyright warning. A 24-hour schedule still needs monitoring and a recovery plan.
- Consider how the encoder and connection behave after a disconnect, and how much manual monitoring your setup requires. YouTube’s guidance does not establish one best encoder product for this static-music use case.
Plan for YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit
YouTube automatically archives live streams under 12 hours, but says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24/7 broadcast is therefore not a dependable way to produce one complete video-on-demand archive. If an archive matters, consider ending and restarting in sessions under 12 hours or recording a local copy and checking that it completed. YouTube recommends a local archive as a backup, but a local recording does not grant rights to retain or publish the music. Make sure your permissions cover archive use. DIY computer setup or cloud operation
What the do-it-yourself route requires
With an encoder on your own computer, the computer, encoder, and internet connection must remain available for the broadcast, and someone should monitor problems and restart or recover the stream as needed. Software versus dedicated hardware depends on the reliability, compatibility, and recovery workflow you need; the available YouTube guidance does not identify a best product or minimum hardware specification for a static music stream.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud loops the uploaded material, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, with one free day per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube. See StreamNeo, then start your free day.

The channel cannot start a live stream
Check that the channel is verified, live streaming is enabled, and there has been no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. If this is your first activation, allow at least 24 hours before the planned start.

The preview is missing or the encoder will not connect
Confirm that you copied the server URL and stream key for the correct event, that the encoder is running, and that the connection has sufficient stable upload capacity for the selected output. Check stream-health messages, reduce output demands if the connection cannot sustain them, and test again while preserving upload headroom.
The stream is interrupted after a copyright match
Review YouTube’s warning and identify the matched content. Do not assume that a license alone prevents interruption: contact the rights provider about Content ID allowlisting, and resolve the rights or match issue before restarting. An archive can also receive a claim after the broadcast.
The archive is missing or incomplete
If the session exceeded 12 hours, YouTube may not have captured it. Use shorter sessions when you need YouTube’s automatic archive, or make and verify a local recording; ensure the music permission covers the copy you intend to keep.
The broadcast is live but audio or visual playback fails
Check the encoder’s audio source, playlist playback, and visual loop in the preview, then continue monitoring after publication. If you replace any track or visual, confirm its rights before returning it to the stream.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

YouTube’s cited setup guidance says a laptop can be used but does not establish a minimum computer specification or prove that a particular machine is suitable for uninterrupted operation. Use existing suitable hardware first, then weigh the cost of keeping a computer and connection available against a cloud service if you prefer not to run the encoder at home.
YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is broad platform context, not a forecast of audience size for a new K-pop study-music channel. YouTube for Artists
